This would look great on a handheld 800XL (hope you're reading this Atari, hint, hint)

I just felt like reviving it

I'd like to see an A8 replica with an SD card slot that has MP3 and JPEG compatibility.
Photo quality background images with A8 sprites, aswell as MP3 music with A8 sound effects would be an interesting combination of old and new.

I hope not. Y'know, Atari should consider a limited edition Sears version. It might appeal to Atari collectors who want something a bit special. Are we gonna have to camp out every night outside of Sears -
I knew there had to be a catchAlso, I'm sure several patents are held, in regards, to the Jaguar Hardware

This is the mod I did on my 2600 Jr. I connected two cables to the circuit board for twin mono sound!

Is this true? So in theory anyone could make a Jaguar without Atari's permission....mmm, very interestingDidn't Hasbro when they owned Atari release all Atari rights to the Jaguar in '99
-
That was a great video!

I once read that the expansion module was actually a self contained 2600 that only used the Colecovision for it's tv tuner and power supply. Does this mean that the expansion module could be used without a Colecovision if some kind of power adapter and video cable was made for it?

Looks like a great utility, lightman

Any chance it could evolve into some kind of game construction set? I think it would be very popular, especially if the A8 Flashback gets the green light.

True. It would make more sense for Infogrames to use their own name on PC and console software and save the Atari name for retro products.I still don't think they (suits) have any idea what they (should) have been doing with AtariThe Atari name has such a powerful '1980's' image that using it with modern software just doesn't seem appropriate.

It looks that way. What Atari needs is a new owner who has a real sense of pride about how great Atari once was and how great it could be again. Legacy Engineering would be an excellent candidate. But I have a feeling that this Atari company is about at an end, like the rest, and the Atari name, at best, will be shuffled around again for a while. -
I think that all of the newer Atari hardware whether it's a Jag, Lynx or ST would be difficult to sell as they don't really have the same feeling of nostaligia that the older consoles had.It seems that some people don't think a Jag flashback would sellI know I've mentioned this before, but a built in DVD player is one way of selling the Jaguar. If kids want a DVD player for their bedroom then why not buy a Jag so they can play games aswell? It might even be possible to play Blu-ray discs using the right software.
A built in modem for online games and surfing the internet might appeal to people who want the internet on their TV's.

They've done a great job with the graphics. Excellent
BTW Can games downloaded from Xbox Live Arcade be saved onto a memory card or cd-rom, or do they have to stay on the hard drive?
-
I think a faster version of the Jaguar (1.3295gHz!!) would be a good, especially if it had a DVD or Blu-Ray player that allowed dvd graphics and the Jags own graphics to be displayed at the same time. Some people might buy it just for the DVD/Blu-Ray player.

Sounds like it's going to be even better than the original FB portable! With the additional time, the product features have expanded and it will see release in Spring/Summer 08'Curt

I owned a 520STFM and my first game was International Karate. A friend of mine had an Amiga 500 and liked to talk about its superiority. The strange thing was that I used to like the Amiga aswell but his constant bragging and arrogance kind of put me off it.
Something that surprises me is why Atari never gave the first generation ST's better graphics or sound. They knew what the Amiga was going to be because Atari paid for it's development, but instead of creating something better, say 64 on-screen colours and 8 channel sound, they chose to make something slightly inferior.
It's rare for a manufacturer such as Atari to have this kind of inside information about a competitors product. Failing to make something better was a hugh mistake.

I apologise if you already know about this, but I just heard this Atari 2600 song by Little Brother on You Tube. Great song!
BTW Not work safe! There's a lot of swearing and other remarks that some might find offensive.
This version has a bit more bass:

Sounds good. The Java format option is a great idea.
