Question - FB2 Portable?
Math You replied to Curt Vendel's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
...and is the TV output PAL compatible? -
I'm surprised that nobody has bothered to mass produce a 2600 portable. According to this article, the 2600 used off the shelf components so I don't think there would be any legal issues: http://www.intellivisionlives.com/bluesky/...anger_tech.html

"Animal Crossing is Tragic" video... get your kleenex

This is very moving. Some people think that video games are a bad influence on people but it's things like this that let us see the best in someone. -
Atari classic to the XBLA this week...Asteroids
Math You replied to Lord Helmet's topic in Microsoft Xbox 360
This says that Tempest, Battlezone and Warlords will be available soon. http://blog.wired.com/games/2007/11/asteroids-crash.html -
I think they would have chosen the first design.

Hi. I've just been reading about the history of the Amiga and was wondering what the Atari 1850XLD version would have looked like? Some articles suggest that it might look like the 1600XL? http://www.atarimuseum.com/computers/8BITS...0xl/1600xl.html

Poor sales of Space Giraffe make Jeff Minter sad (joystiq.com)
Math You replied to 8th lutz's topic in Microsoft Xbox 360
I don't think Jeff Minter should feel too bad about Space Giraffe losing out to Frogger. Retro games like Frogger seem to be in fashion at the moment, even if they're naff! Personnally, I think Space Giraffe would have attracted a lot more interest from retro gamers if it was called something like Tempest Extreme. I bet the cost of licensing the Tempest name would have worked out too expensive. Space Giraffe review (Score 10/10): http://braid-game.com/news/?p=100 -
what do you want the FB3 to be?
Math You replied to gamer1682's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
There's been some speculation in another thread that another company might want an Atari product designed for them, in the same way that the Atari 10 in 1 joystick and Atari paddle games were designed for Jakks Pacific and not Atari. Licencing the Atari name wouldn't make Atari as much money, but it would allow them to avoid the expense of designing and tooling up for a new product. http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?s...13827&st=25 -
Maybe Jakk's Pacific?

Does anyone know if the 8 bit hardware is public domain aswell? -
I think Curts post in the topic below suggests that it's been shelved again. http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?s...=116116&hl=

Just out of curiosity, has Atari, Hasbro or Infogrames put any of the Atari hardware in the public domain or was it just the game roms?
-
A console that used the 6502 cpu to play all 8bit Atari games would be good. I think Atari were planning something like this called the 'Omni' computer?

Collecting for consoles you don't own.
Math You replied to Atari5200's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I bought a sealed Atari Klax game for the Lynx and some new 800 accessories, even though I don't own a Lynx or an 800. I just like the idea of owning something that looks the way it did 10 or 20 years ago. Must be nostalgia. -

Flashback Portable VS GamePort ?
Math You replied to netmoe's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
Perhaps the FB portable will be more than just a 2600 compatible... -
The seller has agreed to take the cartridge back and exchange it if he's got another one. I'll let you all know what happens.

I just received this Jaguar cartridge from an ebay seller that I bought for £12.50/$25. It was supposed to be new and sealed but it's arrived opened and with dust in the grooves at the front of the cartridge and dust in the ATARI wording at the back. Should I complain to eBay or Pay Pal or just put it down to bad experience?
-
Just wondering, if the Jaguar had a resolution of 480 pixels x 240 that was displayed on a standard TV then would the jagged edges be smoothed out by the TV or would it just look naff? The Daytona USA arcade machine had a resolution of 496 pixels that looked quite smooth on an ntsc arcade monitor.

Thanks mimo. I wasn't sure if 800 hardware & software used a different TV standard in different parts of the world, kind of like the 2600 did. -
Do we need an Atari plug & play arcade TV game?

Maybe all of Atari's vector games could be built into the same controller. http://andysarcade.de/vec_atari.html Lunar Lander - http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=8465 Battlezone - http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=7059 Asteroids - http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=6939 Red Baron - http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=9289 Asteroids Deluxe - http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=6940 Tempest - http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=10065 Space Duel - http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=9647 Gravitar - http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=8000 Black Widow - http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=7139 Quantum - http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=9189 Star Wars - http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=9773 Major Havoc - http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=8601 The Empire Strikes Back - http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=7708
