  1. I seems ironic that Atari spend millions developing software but won't spend the relatively small sum needed to make Flashback consoles. The Flashback portable should have been this summers big thing and the 800/5200 could have been a hugh success this christmas. Next year they could have done it all again with a 7800 portable for summer and kids 800 laptop for christmas 2008 followed by a Mini Lynx for summer 2009 and a 7800 console for christmas 2009. 6 products in 3 years = big profit. So why the delay? Things must be really bad.
  2. Joystick/Lightgun design removed for copyright reasons.
  3. I suppose it does look like a me-too product (or is that wii-too). Joystick/Lightgun design removed for copyright reasons.
  4. True, in fact it looks a real mess! I was just thinking that it would add a new dimension to games, something that's more 'virtual reality' and less 'move joystick and press fire'. I suppose the i.r sender could be removed as the tilt mechanism could be used to detect movement. I kind of like the trakball though. It would make a good knife in games like trauma centre, or you could use it in other games to write messages on walls to remind you if you've been somewhere before.....or draw crucifixes if you're in the house of the dead!
  5. A faster version of the Jaguar would be good, particularly since it would be difficult for other companies to emulate without using expensive hardware. If the Jaguar was to be re-released as a modern console (not a flashback console) then it would benefit from an innovative controller. I once had an idea for a Swiss army joystick (no, it doesn't have a knife built into it!) with extra buttons and dials that would emulate real life objects. Joystick/Lightgun is a registered design.
  6. Hi. Just wondering if the Dreamcast controller/joypad is compatible with any other games consoles (old or new). Thanks
  7. Petition for Daytona USA to be made for the Nintendo Wii virtual console and Xbox 360 live arcade. All those in favor say 'AYE'
  8. I think Curt said that the Flashback portable project has been replaced by a more advanced system, hence the possibility of the prototype Flashback portable being sold on ebay. It's replacement could still be a portable though.
  9. I would send a letter to Atari saying " I am from the future. You must give the Atari ST at least 256 on screen colours, a 16mhz chip and anything but the yamaha sound chip...or you will be doomed, doomed forever!!!!" or just pay the asking price for the Amiga chip set, cheapskate.
  10. Does anybody know how Dreamcast Daytona USA compares to the arcade version?
  11. I bet he's busy wiring up the 'bread boards' etc.
  12. You're right Christos, i use my Falcon in 800*592 GT Does this require special hardware (or computer trickery!)
  13. A couple of online games: Apple IIGS games http://www.virtualapple.org/zanygolfdisk.html Activision Kaboom! http://www.groovz.com/play/kaboom/ You might need to download a file before the Apple games will run.
  14. Just out of curiosity, could the Jaguars resolution be altered to display at 720 x 480 (NTSC DVD Quality) ? Perhaps it could be modified to work as a DVD laserdisc console.
  15. I think the Jaguar has a resolution of 800 x 600 compared to the Falcons 640 x 480.
  16. Hi. Has anybody tried the Sega Megadrive/Genesis 6 in 1 joypad? Is it any good and is there a 2 joypad version? Thanks Matt
  17. I'm surprised that eBay are allowed to stop people mentioning Google Checkout. It didn't think that kind of thing was legal.
  18. I can relate to that. The thing to remember about Atari, and in particular the 2600, is that people moved on to bigger and better things such as the 800XL and 5200 or 7800 consoles. Even retro gamers need to move foward, though it's only matter of time until fashion turns full circle and everyone returns to the really old games. I've only been into the 2600 retro scene for about a year and the novelty is already starting to wear off. I'd never sell it though. You never know when the nostalgia bug is going to bite.
  19. They'd call themselves Commotari Sorry, couldn't resist. I think they would have had a few options: 1. Move over to PC production. 2. Licence the Amiga/ST hardware to other companies in the same way that the MSX standard was. 3. Pay Microsoft to write a version of Windows for the Amiga/ST.
