  2. I wouldn't be surprised if the imminent release of the Gameport portable has scared Atari into making something more powerful. For all we know, the Gameport might have been inspired by the Flashback portable discussions that we've had on Atari Age over the past year or so. It might explain why the new Atari product won't be revealed until next year. BTW I think it would be wise of Atari to remove cartridge roms from websites. I know that Atari fans wouldn't be happy about this, but it least it would stop the Gameport people from cashing in on Atari's software.
  3. I haven't played many 800 games (my sister had the 800 and I had a C64). I liked Bruce Lee and Elektraglide
  4. In the UK, some women say ST's as an abbreviation for Sanitary Towels!
  5. What I can't understand is why Atari have been so slow with the developement of the FB portable. You'd think the success of the first Flashbacks would have motivated them to move things up a gear.
  6. It's a shame the Flashback portable has been delayed, but on the bright side, we do have the 800/5200 to look forward to (or maybe a portable 7800?)
  7. I suppose it could happen. An Xbox 360 arcade machine would be a great way of promoting Xbox 360 games. I'd like to see versions of Yar's Revenge, Asteroids and Star Raiders that look like they do in this old Atari commercial. It's the "what will we come up with next?" (a fly, a mutant fly) advert. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEt9ljWOifQ
  8. The 65nm is a smaller chip that uses less power.
  9. There's another Pac Man Championship video here I found this Ms Pac Man video aswell (not xbox 360). I love the song they've added to the video
  10. So who owns the intellectual property for Atari's hardware and software, Atari Inc or Atari Interactive? (and which one lost $70 million)
  11. I was going to get the 20th anniversary version of the DVD but thought I'd wait and see if they bring out a 25th anniversary version.
  12. Can anyone recommend a good sideways shoot'em up for the 2600? I'm thinking about getting Defender II but wasn't sure if there was anything else I should consider. Thanks Matt
  13. Sorry I thought the trakball would have made it more interesting, especially if it could be connected to a PC or Mac and used as a mouse.
  14. This is great news! Two versions will make everyone happy...except people with PAL TV's. Just kidding
  15. It's amazing how the VCS 2600 graphics have improved since these games came out. I'm not sure if that's through the talent of programmers or the versatility of the Stella chip. Probably both.
  16. Fun with numbers (1977) and Hangman (1978) were some of the earliest games.
  17. This is what Frogger looks like. Incidentley, whenever I collect the bonus frog from the moving log, the players green frog turns red so it cant be seen if you jump back to the middle section of the screen. Does anyone know if this is supposed to happen?
  18. This is what Ms Pac Man looks like with my own mod. I could have made the picture a lot brighter by moving one of the wires to another pin but I decided to stick with the darker picture. It's easier on my tired old eyes
  19. Something like those 'plug and play' trakball games would be good.
  20. OK. It would have to be printed on or molded into the plastic
  21. I was hoping that the Flashback portable would come out this spring or summer. I think a lot of people will like the idea of something they could use at the park or beach or anywhere. BTW it might be a good idea to print ATARI on the back of the unit so that other people can see what it is when people use it in public. Free advertising!!!!
  22. I remember playing Star Rider when I was young. I loved those laser disc graphics.
