Thanks, I'll give it a try. Does this mean PAL TV's use a different colour frequency to Secam TV's?

Atari Flashback Portable?
Math You replied to AtariFan#1's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
I still live in hope that there will be an Atari 2600/7800 portable. Compilations and handheld emulators are OK, though I find the idea of using a genuine Atari product with a huge library of legally available games far more attractive than buying a compilation cartridge or an expensive emulator using illegal software. I think the general public would feel the same way. A lot of people still have fond memories of Atari, while the simplicity of the products makes them particularly appealing to families with young children. I doubt that many members of the public would be attracted to handheld emulators in quite the same way, in fact, many stores wouldn't even sell a product that relied on illegally downloaded software. Genuine hardware has much more appeal both to retro gaming fans and collectors. It's fun, it's cool and the games could be sold as cheap as chips -
Sounds good. I guess a Windows machine would have much more commercial success than a Linux/Ubuntu machine. Any chance of a black, brown, orange and woodgrain desktop theme, Alex Varanese style (remember this article anyone ) http://www.alexvaranese.com/work/alt1977

I tested two french 7800 with scart output, with four different TVs.First TV has only one composite scart (no rgb), the second has one rgb scart and one composite scart, the third has one rgb scart, the fourth has two rgb scarts. These 7800s work fine on each TV and on each scart. The difference between composite quality and rgb quality is small (visible but small). I don't suppose you've tried connecting the 7800 to a PAL TV or a Secam TV in PAL mode? I bought a French 7800 a while ago and found that 7800 games only appear in grey and light green???

I'd like to see an A400 or A800 to start with followed by more versions in the future. Any chance it could have the Ubuntu operating system that Dell have been using? It looks a bit more "mainstream" than Linux. There's also a lot of built in software like Open Office (Microsoft Office compatible), Firefox, Ubuntu Music Store, Photo processing etc. http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/features#professional http://www.dell.com/content/topics/segtopic.aspx/ubuntu?c=us&l=en&cs=19 http://www.ubuntu.com/dell

Something like an iPad using Jaguar II hardware would appeal to both video game players aswell as PC owners wanting armchair computing. Nolan talked about using an iPad as a kind of electronic board game in another thread: http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/162342-discuss-atari-history-with-nolan-bushnell/page__p__2002451#entry2002451

iPod, PSP and cellphone re-imagined as '70s gadgets

This is amazing. Atari should take note. BTW More woodgrain...I've got a fever, and the only prescription is more woodgrain http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4royOLtvmQ -
Can you be more specific about what is different? It's a PAL RGB signal so I'm not sure why it would need a special TV. As long as the TV has an RGB SCART socket it should work. Mitch Some of the colours in 7800 games don't appear correctly on my TV or appear in grey-scale. Maybe my TV is only detectng a composite signal??? Does your TV have an RGB SCART socket? Could be a failing 7800 as well, you might try it on another TV and see if it has the same issues. Mitch Just tried the 7800 with an RGB TV. Looks like I've bought a bad 7800. All of the 2600 games look fine except Crackpots which seems to have the wrong colours (maybe it's an NTSC version). All the 7800 games are in greyscale and cyan????

The 5200 controller should be made into a phone

I bought one last year and the picture looks great. The French 7800 needs a multi standard TV as the RGB signal isn't the same as UK RGB. The French 2 pin/24-volt power supply can be plugged into a UK 2 pin shaving adapter. If you're looking for one on eBay try including the word "peritel" (french name for scart) when searching and select "Include title and description".

Sounds like a good idea Is there any chance that the arcade games could be stand-alone versions? Arcade Warlords on the 10 in 1 TV paddle games is pretty good.

Just wondering if anybody has tried using an NTSC version of Activisions Crackpots & Cosmic Commuter on a PAL 2600 or 7800? I don't think Activision made a PAL version so it's NTSC or nothing Thanks

I had one of these for a few weeks when they first came out. Does anyone know if they work OK with stuff like YouTube?

I love this Atari history stuff! Thanksyou, Curt!

It's a draw! Let's all be friends, OK Seriously though, both had strengths and weaknesses. The A800 was fast and colourful, the C64 had a more versiltile sound chip and the ability to mix hi-res sprites with low-res background images.

I voted for the 5200 controller. I know, the original one was naff!, but this might be the perfect opportunity to make things right. Maybe it could work as both a joystick or a paddle, or turn sideways like a joypad?

Love the new look forum There are a few problems with the search box and watch this topic button not being displayed correctly in 800 x 600 mode. I also found that the emoticon box sometimes appears over the right hand side of the text editing box when writing a post (the text box doesn't shrink to the left?).

Xbox 360 becomes my favorite (Monkey Island?)
Math You replied to cimerians's topic in Microsoft Xbox 360
I love it when the re-make old games in hi-def. Makes me want to buy an Xbox 360. There's some screenshots here: http://e3.gamespot.com/image_viewer/621060..._below;thumb;17 -
A French filmaker developed an unusual colour film system that involved alternating between cyan and amber. Maybe a similar technique could be used on 8 bit Atari's?

Will Sega release a new console?
Math You replied to GOTHCLAWZ's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Sega's arcade image wouldn't appeal to everyone. They probably make more money writing games for other peoples consoles anyway. -
Would it be possible to make an online Java version that could be used via the Wii's internet channel?

The Atari Flashback 3 Petition
Math You replied to gamer1682's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
The FB3 threads seem to have been around for years I can't even remember if it was going to be an 800 computer or a 5200 console?
