Maybe the files could be read from a memory card?

Looks good. TT quality on an XL!

Just a hypothetical question to satisfy my curiosity.
Could the 8 bit pokey sound chip in the Atari 400/800/1200 computer be programmed to play MP3 music if someone wrote the appropriate software?
Some other 8 bit computers such as the Commodore 64, only had 4 bit sound, though the Ataris' 8 bit chip seems to give it some potential as a music player. I expect a shortage of memory would be a problem

I recently bought:
Atari 2600 Jr (new)
Atari 800 Keypad (new)
Trak Ball (new & sealed))
Defender & Star Raiders (new & still sealed)
I love my new old Atari stuff. It's new, but it's old. Y'know what I mean

Probably the ZX Spectrum or Commodore 64 in the UK. Atari computers were more successful in Germany.
I remember a friend of mine showing me a German demo comparing the fast and colourful Atari 800XL to a hare and the slow Commodore 64 to a tortoise. I owned a Commodore 64

Curt is asking questions about FB2 compatibility issues on cart modded systems, so that is a GREAT sign...
Sounds like things are starting to happen.....

That looks really good. Let's hope Atari is following this thread
You know what else would be good? A joystick with an integrated paddle. The Flashback 2 really needed a paddle controller.

I hope not. I'm here everyday aswell

They didn't mention a price. Sorry.

Buy my RGB 7800 and find out

I am soooooo tempted! No, I must be strong and start saving money instead of spending it (for the first time in my life!)

Perhaps this is a stupid question, but do you think this is a harmless mistake by the Flashback 2PnP FAQ or a deliberate attempt to cash in on Legacy Engineerings work?
-
I think a 7800 with RGB would be the best.
I've read that the 2600 Jr is good if you're stuck with the televisions RF lead.

Sorry Curt. Just playing detective

I've just received a reply from Best who tell me they don't have any cases for the 7800, only have the silver strip that goes along the top of the case.

I notice that Awesome Arcades is closing down for the summer and that the website has gone.
Has this got something to do with the developement of new Flashback consoles?
-
I think there are subtle differences between the different 2600 Jr's. The 2600 Jr that I'm using doesn't have as many resistors on the circuit board as some other 2600 Jr's.

I've just sent Best an email. I'll let you know what they say

Can 8 Bits Play MP3 ?
in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Posted
Looks like external hardware would be necessary.
To be honest, the reason I was asking is because of the new VBXE video board that's being talked about on another thread. I thought that MP3 + VBXE would equal F.A.B XL !
