  1. This seems to comfirm it's just software: http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/17/nintend...-japan-for-now/
  2. Good point, not unless they become incredibly rare.
  3. Here's the press release from Sonic Solutions: http://www.sonic.com/about/press/news/2006/11/nintendo.aspx
  4. Thanks gambler172 I've just had a look but they only had complete systems. I'll keep looking though.
  5. It might be worth taking a look inside the FB2 to see if you can follow the composite video output back to the video chip. If it goes to 1 pin then chroma and luma are mixed together. If it leads to 2 pins then chroma and luma will be separate. There is the possibility that separating the two signals will weaken the signal strength and reduce the brightness of the picture.
  6. i actually think this is a good idea. all that leapfrog crap sells like crazy ...and I don't think any of them have the quality that Atari 800 software is supposed to have. Atari would get a new generation of 'kiddy' customers every year, forever. It would be a great long term investment for them.
  7. Yep, it seems strange that they never bothered with a PAL version for Europe. You'd think there would be a big enough market for it over here. Maybe I'm wrong. I hope we get a PAL version of Flashback 3 and maybe even the Falcon based Flashback 4 Internet computer aka Atari F.B.I. with single tasking operating system for virus and spyware free surfing
  8. Nobody seems to be too impressed with the original Flashback though it might be worth buying one as an investment and keeping it sealed in it's box. The same goes for the 10 in 1 joystick. They'll all be collectible one day and probably hold some kind of historical value aswell. In 20 years time you'll read about them on the internet as "Two more mistakes that Atari made before they finally had the sense to listen to Curt Vendel and the designers at Legacy Engineering!" Matt
  9. Does anyone sell brand new casework/bodies for the 7800? I've seen some old 7800 consoles on ebay that look a bit rough and thought I could smarten one up with a new case
  10. They make it look so easy! It looks as if there are a few jumper wires in there. I wouldn't be surprised if this Irish 2600 was actually made in China and re-badged as "Made in Ireland" after the composite mod was added. From a legal point of view, a product that was 'completed' in Ireland would have been "Made in Ireland".
  11. Here's a picture from the website.
  12. Looks better than I thought it would.
  13. Silly.question this, but has anybody got a screenshot that demonstrates the 7800's graphics capabilities at it's very best? I've seen some screenshots of games on the Atari Age website, but nothing that's really 'clever' or with the 'WOW' factor you sometimes get with the Atari 800 demo's.
  14. I gave up playing games after selling my ST computer many years ago. I then got back into it after buying a PC and playing on some of the Atari and Commodore emulators. I have to admit, that when I first played some of the Atari 2600 games, I didn't really understand what all the fuss was about, though I found myself coming back to them and eventually bought a 2600 console. I only play on it for an hour or two a week as the 'never ending' gameplay on some games (Yar's Revenge?) can get repetitive, but who cares when you're only paying £2 or £3 for a used game on eBay
  15. Good idea. The one I've seen is being sold as untested. I think I'll keep looking for something I know will work.
  16. Ah, I see. I'll try and find a cheap cartridge then post a picture of it. Matt
  17. The graphics chip might be different aswell?
  18. Maybe they stopped making the Flashback 2 because they're about to announce..... The Flashback 2 Portable!
  19. Yeah, it's that perfect RGB picture that I'm after Did the UK version have a 13 pin din socket aswell?
  20. Hi. Just wondering if anybody has a picture of the 7800 scart socket that was used on the secam version of the console. I've found a console with an odd looking grey socket on the back right hand side but it doesn't look like a conventional scart socket Thanks Matt
