The only chance of us seeing another Atari computer is if somebody makes another Flashback product.
I remember reading how the old Atari company were designing an Omni Computer that could run 2600/5200/7800 and 800 programs.
Something like this could be a hugh success, the Flashback 2 sold over 800,000 units and that was only in the U.S.
It could also be made in many different variations such as a console, handheld, educational computer or mini laptop.

Hi Sean. I find that all TV's and computer monitors can be pretty tiring to look at.I can't read to long on LCD screen Computers because they give me bad headachesLets hope the new generation of LED-LCD monitors can provide us all with something more natural.

Asteroids has a 2 player mode, not sure if you'd call it cooperative though.
Does Joust have a 2 player option?

I like it

It doesn't work on my computer
It just says Applet jstella notinited. -
Tried connecting it to another PAL TV and this time it was black, white and light green!
I thought about adjusting some of the components in the 7800 but I don't want to mess things up. Reckon I'll just stick with the 2600 cartridges (that's all I bought it for really).

Good advice guys. Perhaps the TV is only receiving a Secam composite video signal?
-
I finally got a Secam 7800 with a scart cable (hooray!) but all the 7800 games are in black and white (boo!). Does anyone know what the problem might be? The 2600 games are all in colour.
BTW I'm using it with a PAL TV.
Thanks

If Apple does make a console, then it could also be based on the iPhones ARM chip.
-
The 8 game limit would have limited its appeal.
Shame it didn't have a built in clock. It would have given it a more practical use.

Happy Birthday Atari.
36 years young, eh!

Does anyone know which DOS was used in the original 800? And are any of them better or more compatible than others? Thanks

I'm clutching at straws here. If the Cosmos has 8 games then would it need to have 3 buttons pressed down simutaneously, like using a 3 bit sequence to create a number from 0-7.It was a very cool system, I've gotten Space Invaders, Superman, Asteroids, Destroyer and Road Runner to work. I have not been able to find the key sequences to football, basketball, or outlaw to get those games to work.Does anybody have any videos of the Cosmos in action?
Found a couple here:
The holograms look much larger than I thought they would be.
-
The thing that puzzles me is how the games worked at all? Did the hologram slides contain rom data or was there a separate cartridge containing the game data?
-
It certainly looks that wayI don't think Consumer Electronics is high on Atari's priorities right now
It's a real shame though. I find hardware products much more interesting than software. They probably cost a lot less to develop aswell.
-
Ah, nostaligia! I'm gonna have to watch this movie.
-
Robot Tank and Space Shuttle don't work on my 7800.compatibility issues are only on about 5 carts IIRC, and it is a bit hit and miss as to if a particular 7800 will have a problem. As for carts not fitting it is a very easy fixCompatibility

Perhaps Atari would be interested in 'un-earthing' the mystery. It could be good publicity?
-
Quick question! Do Gamecube games look better when played on a Wii console? Is there any upscaling etc? I've just been watching a demo of The Legend of Zelda-The Wind Waker for the Gamecube and it looks pretty good.

Did you know that the Atari 7800 is the choice of the experts
