We live in hope. There's more chance of it happening now that Atari has a new boss
So would it actually being built but that ain't happening either...lol...A HDMI socket would be a good idea.

I had this idea that Scarlett could throw a dragons egg into the playfield that would hatch into a baby dragon. The baby dragon would then damage one of the the players walls with it's firey breath.
The players would have to hit the egg towards the other players before it hatched, to prevent the baby dragon from damaging their own wall..

I'd probably give everything to the grandchildren or maybe a friends children.

Someone was selling a PAL version on eBay (I didn't think they made a PAL version???).
-
I'd like to see an arcade accurate version of Sega's Daytona USA. I think it was the most profitable arcade machine in the world?
-
True. The only computer systems that have survived are the ones that began life as business computers with the added bonus of being able to play games.I think the perception of the two 16-bit machines as games machines that also ran some applications, was in part the doom of them both. I agree that children will opt for a machine due to the games. But children have a really limited purchasing power. Or at least they used to have... lol. -
I don't this the ST's low resolution, green and white desktop looked very professional compared to the Amiga's medium resolution 'workbench'.
I know it's kind of trivial, but a computers desktop does play a part in creating its public image. Just take a look at the Apple Macintosh.
-
If Atari had spent a few more months improving the graphics chip they could have added years onto the ST's lifespan.
They should have also considered putting a 12.5mhz cpu under the hood aswell (a 16mhz cpu wasn't available at the time). I know it would have meant more expense, but a 12.5mhz ST have still been cheaper than an Amiga or Apple Macintosh.
Atari didn't need to make a cheap computer, only a computer that was cheaper than the competition.

True. The games would sell just as well if they were sold under the Infogrames name.Infogrames has no need any further for Atari, IncThere is the possibility that the Atari name has such a strong connection with 1980's gaming that it might actually be having a negative effect on game sales.
Don't get me wrong, I love the Atari image, but it belongs on retro products.

No problem

The new boss sounds very motivated. Atari needs someone like that.

The treasure room in Dragonfire looked good. Medievel Mayhem and Cannonfire have great graphics too.
-
I know what you mean, but even Coldfire can only manage 300mhz:
-
Sounds like it's more to do with marketing than technical limitations. They're slow because there's no real demand for machines using that architecture to be faster. -
It was earlier this month. What is this talk about atari getting a new president? when did this happen?http://www.mcvuk.com/news/29803/Harrison-lands-at-Atari

They should have made a portable version called the Atari XTC/Exstacy (EXpanded STacy)The Falcon 030 should of been called the Atari TS. lol (Thirty Two Sixteen)
-
I was just reading how Motorola's 68XXX family of processors only manage a top speed of 75mhz, when Intel processors have evolved into much fasters processors running at several Gigahertz? Is there some kind of design flaw in Motorola cpu's that stops them running faster?
-
Sorry, I meant 16bit bus Falcon

-
It sounds like the 16bit Falcon had more in common with the ST than the TT?
-
I thought I'd revive this old thread now that Atari has a new boss.
Yes, we want an FB3, please

-
Anybody heard anything?

For some reason I thought this was about John F Kennedy (JFK)

I think the problem with the 5200 (apart from the lack of 2600 compatibility) was that it didn't really offer anything more than the Atari 800 did. Obviously, the 5200 was cheaper, but the low price of the console was offset by the higher cost of cartridges.
If the 5200 had been compatible with the 800 (and had an optional keyboard and data recorder) then it would have been a great way of expanding the growing Atari 800 user base.
In the long term, some 5200 owners might have upgraded to a 800 so they could add disk drives and printers, creating a second hand market for the 5200 and a new generation of 800/5200 owners
