Poking around at some 4k alternate versions. * There are two versions of Apollo's Lost Luggage. The [a] version is Lost Luggage with Intro - this is the Blue Label as described on AtariMania. http://www.atarimania.com/detail_soft.php?...VERSION_ID=8133 The standard Lost Luggage is the Original - fewer points, fire button restart, no intro. I guess this came first. I don't know much about Apollo label variations. * Mr. Postman - O Cartiero (1983) (CCE) (C-801) [a] - has extra lines in front of your score, as though the height counter was one too large. Mr. Postman - O Cartiero (1983) (CCE) (C-801) does not have this problem and looks right * No Escape [a] - has some problems when trying to fire towards the right, and often the left as well. What was the source for this broken image? No Escape works fine. * Spinning Fireball - has copyright notice Spinning Fireball [a] - copyright notice has been removed. And there is another change too, but I can't tell what it does. Can anyone help me figure out what the differences are in the original vs alternate releases of... ATARI FB2 REJECTS ( FOR TINKERINGS)
Hornpipe2 replied to igg1na's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
Do these damaged ones still run games through an added cart port, or are the boards completely useless? -
Does this work with the SIO2PC?

I use ArcadeOS but I run FreeDOS. There are better Windows frontends.

Rom Hunter's V3.0 Old Era Collection Now Online
Hornpipe2 replied to Rom Hunter's topic in Atari 2600
What the heck is John K. Harvey's Equalizer (John K. Harvey).bin ? I think this is a homebrew, or at least not pre-1993. -
Lovely. I'm working on my vertical cocktail table as well - almost got the PC done. The tool I used to generate lists is called RomLister - it can be a pain to get working, but it can limit to vertical oriented, number of buttons and joystick controls (and filter out mature games too). The more I think about it, the more I think it must have been Blasteroids. I think I remember the changing-ships mechanic and the energy crystals thing. Thanks for the help!

I was about to say: "I saw Munch Mobile on Starcade once!" And then I clicked the link. LOL. There is another version of the game called "Joyful Road". I believe one came out in the US and the other in Japan.

No, I don't think that's it... I'm pretty sure it was a raster game. If it helps: I think the point was more to fend off waves of aliens, not asteroids...
-
I'm looking for a game that I saw in an arcade in ~1991 that was similar to Blasteroids. It supported at least 2 players simultaneous on a top-down space shooter, and in between levels you'd choose the next planet to visit. It was a raster game with horizontal monitor. Ideas?
-
Used to be Rampart, now it's Galaga [when I am feeling old-school] or Outrun [when I feel middle-school].

That makes me want to barf. That is my hometown arcade. It is the only real arcade I ever remember in the area. Mine too! I used to tear it up on the DDR here, but the machine was expensive IIRC. Lokomotion is still in operation just down the street, though, if you're okay with 1995-2005 games and go-karts. They had a DDRMax 2 last time I checked.
-
Totally off topic: you promised pictures of your arcade setup in the "Do Your Kids Play Video Games" poll - did they ever get posted?

Here's an old classic. You play from an isometric view as the Paperboy and you have to deliver the newspapers to your customers' houses while dodging weird obstacles on the street. NES: SMS: Amiga: C64: Thoughts? The whole game scrolls diagonally, but your paperboy could just sit in the (vertical) center while everything moves at a variable speed around him. No idea if convincing houses could be made from playfield pixels, though. What if you had multiple kernels (one for each house) and only one would be on the screen at a time?

Does anyone care about SECAM support?
Hornpipe2 replied to Propane13's topic in Atari 2600 Programming
I would like this question answered too. -
Thanks for the tip. We'll play anywhere that will cover travel expenses, and the drive from Fayetteville, AR to Tulsa, OK is so short that it could be a great one-day trip. I'll get in touch and see.

The three guys on the left side of this photo are in my band: http://www.robohara.com/albums/vgxpo/target4.html Hardly anyone watched us play, so I was pretty shocked to find that there was a video with some of the performance - and when I saw there was a Mason involved, I had to ask : )

Completely off-topic: did you record this?

Off topic a bit, but my FB2 compatibility list says Space Shuttle won't run. Can someone try the FE and F8 versions on their modded FB2 and see if maybe the original tester had used one or the other?
-
what do you want the FB3 to be?
Hornpipe2 replied to gamer1682's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
Typical annoying fanboy shit... What? This was a real commercial for the PS2, aired for some time when the system was first released. A lot of people (myself included) thought it was pretty lame. -

You can do work in that portion, but don't do anything that would touch the TIA. EDIT: http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?s...t&p=1374673

Well you see, the space shuttle is actually designed to run on two solid fuel tanks, and one liquid fuel. 7800 just isn't that combustible, so it makes poor fuel. I hope this helps. AX LOL
