  1. ANNOUNCEWMENT: I stand with Ukraine by not playing Chelnov Atomic Runner in MAME, or Crisis in the Kremlin.

  2. Looking at this Amico launch/proposal is like trying to sell a horse & buggy in modern times.

    1. Reaperman

The horse-and-buggy niche is probably way larger. I do kind of want to play that moon patrol, but that's about as positive as I can be for now. I hope that at least gets released somewhere even if the console doesn't.

    2. BydoEmpire

I really want to play Cloudy Mountain... maybe the new Night Stalker and Shark Shark if the over-the-top graphics don't ruin it.  I'd totally buy these games for a few bucks on Steam or GOG. Hard to justify $300 for them, though.  I wished the Amico all the best and I was keeping my eye on it for sure.  You never know, maybe they'll find a way to pull through and I hope they do.

  3. Watching Airwolf season 4, they love using Centipede's spider sound effects for computer noises.

    1. BrianC

That reminds me of those episodes of Wonder Woman where they used a sound effect from Road Runner cartoons.

I guess they moved up from the usual 2600 Pac-Man and Donkey Kong effects that are used in most movies and shows.

    3. thanatos

Hah, had the TV in the other room and heard the Centipede sounds - it was a Knight Rider episode, and KITT was scanning something.

  4. You need to watch "Saturday Morning All Star Hits!" - It is one of THE most bizarre shows Netflix has ever made. Very Adult Swim-like.

    1. GoldLeader

WOOOHOO!   I will be checking this out!

  5. After much waiting, I finally picked up a signal on the CB I set up in the house. It's like a blast from the past. The CB chatter hasn't changed in forever!

    1. Rogerpoco

My Family were deer hunters in North Florida, running deer thru the woods with dogs, CB's were a necessity-

I was too young, but my Grandpa was 23, my Dad was 23-2, so I guess I'd be 23-3, if I needed a handle.

      (I'm a "the third").

  6. A podcast I listen to: "WHo Are these Podcasts?" is going to review the Amico All Access podcast. When 2 hobbies collide.

  7. Remember that one obscure TV show that nobody remembers? There's a discord for that.

      Hard Time on Planet Earth?

    3. GoldLeader

      Square Pegs fan club?

    4. doctorclu

Square Pegs was a great show.   Totally Head!

  8. Welp, officially going to Classic Gaming Fest in 2 months.

  9. Watching the Nintendo doc on Crackle. Damn that 80s synth soundtrack is good. Sounds like Tangerine Dream(or is it?)

  10. trying out & streaming to twitch with Atari 2600 games for fun: https://www.twitch.tv/the_s1500

  11. Have you worked a job? You may be entitled to compensation!

  12. Backing up my Playstation 2 games to hard drive. Wow, some of these are only 2 gigs. And a GIF for no reason.

    1. wongojack

and some of them are even on CD

  13. Randomly decided to play Ikari Warriors 2 via Amazon Games, and it works great on an Xbox controller. Was kicking ass without a rotary controller!

    1. Wally1

      Go for it, it's 1985

    2. _The Doctor__

      _The Doctor__

It's been available for NES and PC forever... why would you bother with amazon for it.

    3. S1500

_The Doctor_ The NES version isn't that good, and the Amazon(SNK classics package) version integrates the controller just right.

  14. Watching the awful movie "Moving Violations" and they are playing Pole Position.

    1. GoldLeader

Been a long time.   That's the one where he holds up his license and it's Indiana Jones (the Indy  music plays) and then he tells the cop "I photograph better than I look", right?  haha ... Good stuff...

    2. x=usr(1536)

Think I've seen that one - any idea if it was renamed to 'Dangerous Curves' in some markets?

  15. Okay, just gonna say it, Windows POwerSHell blows the doors off of PuTTY.

Headless Windows server sounds to me like a headless chicken.

    3. masseo1

Actually back when I was stuck with a windows laptop at work I used to use CygWin. I  welcome all to take the step to Linux. :)

Indeed  Powershell is much better than putty for ssh control. Im not sure how it handles profiles and ssh keys, bash is better than that, then the next step would be a linux virtual machine (as windows user at my place do), then get rid of windows altogether and transition to Linux.

    4. CPUWIZ

Using PS 7.1.0 and CygWin for work all the time.  PUTTY is different, long abandoned.

  16. The "Fast Times at Ridgemount High" text adventure for the TI-99/4A is frustrating. I need a walkthru.

      high voltage

      Just think of Phoebe Cates

    3. Tempest

      That's a thing?  Seriously?

    4. S1500

      It's a thing. Seriously. A text adventure.

  17. Are the angels on the Angel Soft packages dead kids?

    1. retrorussell

They bled to death out the ass from rough toilet paper.

    2. eddhell

are they related to the cherub on Van Halen's "1984" album?

    3. frankodragon

They do form a gang and beat the stuffing out of those Charmin bears.

  18. Why hasn't Bonzi Buddy released an official statement on their stance on COVID 19? What saftey measures are they going to take?

    1. thanatos

Didn't see one on the X10.com pop-ups either.  Or anything from Angelfire.

  19. If 2020 was a console, it would be the Atari VCS!

I would have said CD-I myself.

    3. CPUWIZ

Wouldn't you have to set fire to it first?

    4. cedropoole

SouljaGame Console because 2020 was a poser of a year

  20. 3 minutes into Wonder Woman 1984 and I spot an anachronism in the arcade.

Be prepared for much more nonsense.

    3. Shawn

If you like the first one, don't expect anything close out of this second one. Half decent movie but a terrible ending, IMO.

    4. Stephen

      But - Gal Gadot!

  21. What voltage do the Coleco & Intelly flashbacks take? I can't find the power supplies anywhere.

    1. GoldLeader

      They're 5V 500mA  Center Positive

  22. I only now discovered the free retro games that came with Amazon Prime. NOICE.

    1. Rick Dangerous
    2. Mikebloke

Twitch Prime, presumably Amazon will just get rid of the Twitch name one day. Its now called "Prime Gaming".

It includes various B rated games, some of which might be ones you thought "oh, I wouldn't mind trying this sometime".

I've been "saving" each game that comes out since they started doing it, and I'll be honest I don't think I've actually booted one of them up, but if you haven't got anything to play - it might be worth a shot.

    3. jgkspsx

      Wait, which?

  23. Somehow, some way I found an .EXE that actually runs Super Cassette Vision games. The libretro dlls in Retroarch boot up the system, but won't boot up the game.

  24. On the TV show "Eerie, Indiana" you can hear Atari 2600 asteroids, and a kid is playing Stargate arcade in the attract mode.

    1. Hydro Thunder

      Hydro Thunder

I think I've seen at least three shows (cartoons mostly) where there are people playing Donkey Kong or Space Invaders but the sound is from 2600 Pac-Man :D

    2. GoldLeader

      I remember that show.

    3. S1500

Also spotted; 2 Gemsticks worn on the ears.

  25. Just as a reminder, everything in the universe will be discontinued, and then re-released with an HDMI port added to it.

The mind reels at the possibilities.  Box of Kleenex? HDMI Port!  Hostess Fruit pie?  HDMI Port!  How 'bout an HDMI Port?  2 HDMI Ports!!!

    3. john_q_atari

Closest thing to a Laserdisc player with an HDMI port I ever saw was a > $1000 Pioneer LD-S9, 2nd or 3rd best player in existence. It digitized everything internally it seems. I suppose if you were a super awesome uber-hacker you could tap into the digital stream and re-encode into HDMI. That said I know the comment was made in jest.

    4. save2600

HDMI... with a million baby-step revisions afterwards. Gotta be the worst consumer electronics "standard" that way yet.
