  To be fair, though it IS hard to avoid. It takes active culling. People you wouldn't expect are sources of frustration by sharing/liking things that end up in your feed. I had to just stop using the FB feed entirely or end up blocking basically everyone. Now FB for me is just an address book with some groups and local events to follow.
