I'm enjoying my new AtariBox I just bought at Toys R Us after renting a few games at Blockbuster!

Bed, Bath & Beyond aka "The Atari Store"

I'm on a computer! Anyone else out there on a computer?

Wii U is a flop, here's hoping for another video game crash. A father/son shared experience!

Deactivated my Twitter account. It's nothing but male bashing, hair splitting and saying the N word 300 times a day.

I try to be selective in who I follow, but it always ends up with mudslinging on my feed(even if I'm on their side). Then you get twitter users who like some of the dumbest posts ever, and you can't filter likes. You can filter retweets, but not likes. So it shows tweets I wouldn't be interested in seeing anyway.
The Ben & Jerry's twitter feed is awfully political for ice cream.

So with google's gaming platform, I expect a thread on AtariAge about it with no less than 300 pages of non-information. Tacos!

With OnLive, they spying was sold as a feature. It was fun to broadcast (Twitch style) and comment on other people's games, which were presented as a big moving gallery. You could turn it off but sometimes it was neat to be a part of a big video gaming hive mind.
Anything delivered digitally is going to have usage analytics. In the case of video games, at least it's going to be much less sensitive than text communication.

Why is the Nintendo Switch so talked about in retro gaming circles? It's not retro, it's a new console!

I know I play retro games to get something unique, as opposed to the Sgt. McShootaman games that have dominated for so long. Switch is inherently different & unique despite its newness.
Plus Nintendo has a rep for long-term playability & value, so it's a way to buy in cheap before nostalgia jacks up prices in 20 years (maybe).

For those in the USA who want to buy a new car with a manual transmission: good luck

Atari's official FB has an interesting entry today.

Thanks. Scary and disappointing. You want to pay honor to something you loved in the past only to have that cause bite you later. I remember this happening with Combat 2, and people using the Atari symbol years ago. But as many say not the old Atari. But then... the old Atari was sue happy too (Sega, Amiga, I think there was one with Apple somewhere along the way...)

I'm on the Internet, now what?

We laugh at the disaster of the Chameleon, yet the NES Classic just outsold the modern consoles. Hmm..

Except the NES was massively popular. The ColecoVision wasn't.
Nintendo became synonymous with video games. Coleco never did.
The NES sold about 62 millions consoles. The ColecoVision sold just north of 2 million.
Nintendo had a massive game library. Coleco didn't - it was all licensed from others.
Even if the Chameleon had come to market, they had no name recognition that would sell it.
-
Supposedly Nintendo had sold at least 2.3 million NES Mini by April 2017 (possibly excluding the Famicom Mini), and about 4 million SNES Mini by spring 2018. Let's say at least 7-10 million units together.
In comparison, 50000 units of respective Atari Flashback is within the error margin, from a global perspective. And no, I can't imagine the Chameleon would have sold even 1 million units if it had come to market.

What are you doing in my status update, AtariAge user?
-
I upgraded to a new PC yesterday, and have now ran into every single problem along the way; defective power supply, wrong fans sold to me, old video card didn't work, new video card in wrong slot, Win10 wouldn't install. Just let me win this one battle.

@DS, exactly. Not sure how it is today, but years ago if you tried to upgrade a store bought PeeCee, could look forward to their special version of Windoze not liking the new card or processor. Conflicts galore, drivers not found, download a driver only to find it still doesn't work or makes matters worse. Before long your HD and config is so screwed up, that you decide to format, remove your upgrades and reinstall all the crappy bloated software. Temporarily "happy" that your system appears to work again. Until the next "upgrade" attempt.

Ataribox Taco: A joke now more tired than William Shatner

Getting merch rung up at Sketchers. Lady just automatically tries to enroll me in the rewards program. I say "I'm opting out". Consent, it's what's for dinner.
-
Bought The Outer Worlds. I should have bought this first and skipped Borderlands 3 entirely. It's Fallout in space.

Does Yahoo have anything?

I have a great idea. A video game magazine ABOUT video game magazines!

The Tim Hortons are leaving the twin cities. I only went once and didn't like the customer service, doing things their way. No, I don't know what a dang "double double" is or whatever.

I want the new Picard show just to be Patrick Stewart sitting in a chair, reading from a book.
-
And now a Playstation Classic is announced. What year is it?
-
Am I crazy for only wanting to drop money on something that's already been made, and not a year from now?

Should I have a Sierra Myst or Mountain Dew? So Mist or Dew?

Oh JaguarVision, what whimsical post will you come up with next?

Saw Ghost in the Shell tonight: theater was really crowded; 6 whole people showed up!
