  1. I remember trying to play either 3,4, or 5(I forgot) and quickly dying in the first few minutes of the game. Reason: I got near some diseased person and couldn't shake the sickness off.
  2. It's too bad T-Mek, an Atari coin-op game wasn't released for the Jag. Oddly enough, it was ported for the Sega CD. I enjoyed that crazy game in the arcades. Weird that Atari coin-op games didn't get ported to the Jag. Sure, separate companies, but hey, you'd think they would be on each other's speed dial.
  3. When I played the Gennie version of Virtua Racing, I realized the graphics weren't TOO much better than Checkered Flag, but I looked past that. I actually enjoyed going through the races & such on Virtua Racing. Checkered Flag? It's like it's saying "uh, yeah, ok, here's like the game, go have fun and leave me alone.". Good thing they didn't call it Pole Position 3. That would have been an insult to the PP series.
  4. The game just doesn't get the player involved.
  5. I enjoy RetroGamer and think it's the best, most professionally-done mag out there for such a niche audience. It doesn't bother me that it's Uk centric. It just exposes me to stuff I have never heard of before, ie the ZX Spectrum games, etc. You can only talk about the same old USA-flavored retro gaming topics so many times before being sick of it. Wow, ANOTHER article about ET cartridges buried in the desert? I have a stack of about 12 of them, almost completing the RG logo on the spine. Even gave away some issues before that.
  6. So this is why backwards compatibility was dropped for the later PS3 models. A page straight out of the Nintendo playbook?
  7. What podcast is in this relation to? And also.. pics or it didn't happen.
  8. The thing is with "gamer communities", there are more video game websites(such as the ones you mentioned) then there are video games. A lot of "me too" video game sites. It's diluted, and often one news story will be copied to all the other sites.
  9. Man Chris, you really like your CCE games, doncha?
  10. I have a Nintendo CD that has all the mid-80s classics(SMB, etc) I bought in Japan.
  11. Neat you met the guy behind Not Polyoptics. I bought some Japanese wargame by them from a computer store. Think it was priated since it didn't contain a black, unlabeled cassette. The manual seemed quite a bit photocopied more than expected. Remember playing the cassette in my mom's '88 Isuzu Trooper 2.
  12. Senario 101-in-1 has a mushy controller, but 101 games for 10 bucks. That's a good game/cent ratio!
  13. How do you do this? I'm trying to use my "mouse x" as a paddle for Atari 2600 games, set it to what I think is right, but no go. Has to be an easy way to do this in MAME and MESS.
  14. I saw a used FB2 at a mom & pop game store for $50. This was a few months before Target was selling new ones for $20.
  15. I also would like to see a paddle-based Invaders. It would be an interesting hybrid of Space Invaders + what is it, astrosmash? More paddle games, dangit.
  16. It would have been nice to have ALL of Atari's paddle titles included in the paddle sub-menu. There's plenty of paddle games made by Atari that doesn't need any worries or such about 3rd party licenses.
  17. Sad that Solaris is not on there. That is one of the best 2600 games IMO.
  18. I think it's great. It's a welcome change from the usual plug & play systems with just a handful of games.
  19. I can understand why TI would want to lock out un-licensed 3rd party carts($), but the side effect is that it really can kill the popularity of the console or computer. Sure, it didn't hurt Nintendo for the NES, but....
  20. Can't you have some Game Genie-like thing in the middle? Ooh that could be fun.
  21. A little bit disappointed in the game refresh + shifting. Was hoping to have the same games as my existing FB2, + more games + more homebews. I can live without Wizard since it truly was a terrible game. But I, as well as others on here are a bit of a niche audience, where we want the rarer & more obscure games.
  22. The hardest part for me is to lug around the whole system, PEB & television to get it next to a computer. That is, UNLESS I have a laptop with serial port laying around. Hmmm...
