I got 2 TI consoles in my last purchase. One of them has a missing = key. Wonder if I could just graft on another = key from a regular 101-key keyboard.

I remember trying to play one stinking mission in SOE(one of the early missions) which involves having to run somewhere to meet up some guy. No matter how many times I tried, I ran out of time & failed the mission. Not even the cheat code to "pass the mission" worked.

I'm almost all the way through the 2nd movie. It's not bad. I bought that game(new) and 2 used PS2 games at a going-out-of-business sale at a game store for 11 bucks.

Many moons ago I was at a video game store, and was surprised to see "State of Emergency 2". I bought SoE 1 and was quite disappointed with the game. How the heck did a sequel get made? Has anyone else found sequels, whether classic or new that seemed to be released to zero audience or hype?

What chance of a 'Tomb Raider'type game on the Jaggie
S1500 replied to carmel_andrews's topic in Atari Jaguar
Open source & the free software movement = anti-Jaguar. -
Come for the sci-fi B-movie, stay for the Vectrex footage. If you have comcast cable, you can watch it. Just found it now.

Just saw the youtube video, WOW is the voice acting terrible.

Life's too short to worry! Code onward!

Yeah, freeware... that's the ticket. Just add $30 for shipping, processing and handling I meant as in downloadable, not putting it to a physical cart form. Let people do that themselves. That would not help you in court if Midway was serious about it and from the talks I had with them they are still VERY serious about any and all their IP's. They could claim that a free distribution is indeed hurting them froma version they 'may' have in the works meant for profit. I would not be barking up that tree if I were you guys. I dont think you have much to worry about but I would not get cocky about it either. So if I take some shoot em up construction kit & make a Gorf for freely distributing, they send their goons after me? I dunno, that seems like a stretch for a video game company, over an almost 30-year old title. You should stick it to the man and distribute your Gorf source code like DeCSS!

Didn't want to disrespect homebrew scene... There's a lot of great homebrews in my SD. Anyway, I was looking again my PCB and if I rotate the board 180o, the SD slot will be right in the front panel. So, just need to cut a hole for SD and it's done... You didn't disrespect the homebrew scene at all. If anything, you gave it, on the Atari 2600 side, a swift kick in the ass.

If you are going to port someone else's work, whether it's Gorf or whatever, the best route is the freeware route. Any profit-driven motive, whether it's porting it to a current console or dead console, is just killing your creation with red tape & disappointment. Let's all remember that talented wackjob who wanted Nintendo to release his RPG for the Nintendo DS. He provided more entertainment value with his attention whoring than the game he was trying to make.

What's the oldest printer you can go?
S1500 replied to S1500's topic in Classic Computing Discussion
I have a laserjet 4p, running off of Ethernet. Friend moved away, so he gave it to me. I haven't even refilled the toner. -
I remember seeing the "generic/text only printer" driver listed in Windows 3.1 many moons ago. You could hook up an old printer from the 80s and it would print away. Can you do that on Windows XP with a parallel connection? That would be fun to try out. Or, if you have a lot of free time & programming skill, have it print out graphics. Sure, it would only be monochrome, but it would be so beautifully retro. Wonder if it would be easy to use an old printer in Linux. Heck, probably easier.

Borderlands - Playthrough 1

Doesn't MESS have some basic debugging features? Probably not dev-friendly, but it might give another angle.

Now THIS is an Atari Flashback unit! It's a freakin' Christmas miracle! Let's pin this thread and un-pin the other one!

I'm watching the 2nd half of this. This is awkward to watch. Some athelete trying to read awards is just rambling on like an idiot. You could even hear the director tell him to hurry it up & get on with things. Mike Tyson & the cast of Jersey Shore show up. Mike was dressed rather down(like he wasn't scheduled to show) and you could tell he's been hit in the head a few times in his life. Stevie Wonder is ranting on about how video games should be more accessible to people with disabilities. They are really letting the celebrity presents say just about anything they want. The award winners that come up might be skilled at making games, but not public speaking, that's for sure. Yep, it's live. It's a live trainwreck.

What's that one funky, low-res video mode that's available in assembly? maybe that would be a good candidate for low-rez games, that would get a speed boost.

I still cannot find the SNK collection anywhere in brick & mortar retailers. Did they only make 400 copies of it or something? You would think with Xbox Live Arcade, PSN & Virtual Console releases, it.ohhh wait..

Yo dawg, I heard you like Atari....

I remember doing the second gladiator arena, with the psychos & the shipping containers. WOW was that freakin' tough. Imagine those tall badass dudes that take a ton of hits to kill. Yep. I never seen so many turrets deployed at once.

I just finished it last night. Not bad. I died numerous times at the very end. Thankfully, I had 3 good level players helping me. One of the other players gave me an alien weapon. But where did HE find it?
