Heh. Beginning of episode of this one guy. You can clearly see a N64, a Genesis, and a SNES on the floor. It's easy to spot as it's not one of the 3 million wine bottles. 20 minutes later, he's holding on to a Star Ocean CD. Lolz.

Oddly enough, I found a still sealed box of 5.25 disks in a thrift store. I bought 'em for my TI.
-
And there's no more sob story about being a gangsta & 5 kids in one sentence. Yeah, it's "rare" as in there aren't millions of SMB2 carts + controllers in a case around, but still not $500 rare.

Isn't this what the next gen Amiga was going to be, or was that Commodore? Ie a regular PC with the Commodore or Amiga named slapped onto it. Seems more like a re-badge. Here's my take. Instead of doing an uber-specced out system that will be obsolete in a year(there's nostalgia for you!), how about a USB interface that can read all Atari cartridges from 2600-the Jaguar, a 5.25 floppy drive that can read the 8-bit series, & a 3.5 inch drive that can read Atari ST images. Then another USB interface that can read all Atari joysticks, from the 2600 all the way up to the Jaguar. Get some good(ie bug-free) software emulation that can read said cartridges & disks & enjoy. Is it an entire standalone system? No. But put 'er as a neat package, and you could have some classic fun.

I guess I'm just not understanding the need for person A to put their watermark on someone else's work.

Since when does a vasectomy cost 100K? If you look at his other auctions, they seem rather normal, except for the fact that almost everything he owns is 'RARE'. You see, if you put things into the perspective of the universe scale, everything is "Rare". That Atari combat cart? It's rare. It would not be rare if there were millions of combat cars spread evenly across the galaxy. But this is ebay. If an item is not produced in infinite amounts(ie nothing), it is thus "rare" and "LQQK". Yep, you have tons of video game merch to sell on eBay, but suddenly you need 100 large to turn you & your 5 kids(again, 5 kids)' lives around.

I can't take credit for finding this one. The Retro League found it, and oh boy is it a doozy. http://cgi.ebay.com/SUPER-MARIO-BROTHERS-2-IN-GLASS-FRAME-ECCENTRIC-RARE_W0QQitemZ280416278891QQcmdZViewItemQQptZVideo_Games_Games?hash=item414a1cd96b $100K for a controller & SMB2 in a glass frame. Only $100K. If you can decipher the world's longest run-on sentence, it goes to show you it is for a good cause. You read on a bit further, and you see this poverty and bad-luck stricken seller has 5 kids. Love the amount collected so far.

IIRC the remake of Battlezone was quoted by my friend as being moreso a better racing game than a tank combat game.

I had this game sitting on my shelf for years. I finally got down to playing it. What a freaking horrible game. I was expecting something next-genish like a first-person version of the game, or something like that. No, it's just Asteroids with jazzed-up graphics. The self-replicating crystal asteroids are a pain in the ass. There's also enemies that will kill you rather easily right after you teleport. This game is no Blasteroids. This game seems like a Jaguar title. Fancy sounds & graphics, but no depth. Sad, really.

Anyone have a FB2 power supply pic?
S1500 replied to S1500's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
How do you mean, the wrong one? To make sure, you need the correct fitting tip, 9vdc (and I think it can regulate it down from about 12vdc) and at least 200mA, tip POSITIVE. Was the one you were about to use tip negative? That would have messed things up, or going over 12vdc. Does it work? I meant I had a power supply that looked quite a bit like the FB2 supply, but it wasn't. It had a different output voltage, etc. The power supply I bought from Unique Thrift was for some telephony device. It works perfectly with the Flashback 2. -

Managed to snag one at a thrift store. It's not an Atari one, but the specs match. -
I love all things early 80s: especially women in 80s leotard/workout gear.

There have been countless racing games where the AI drivers are perfect motorists. They never screw up on corners, bump into each other, etc. At least with Gran Turismo 4 the cars get into accidents, but won't dodge you if you leave your car just standing there.

After drifting around in classic arcade coinops & modern puzzle games, I can see a lot of these easily ported to the TI-99/4A. The TI's tile graphic system seems to be begging for tile puzzle games. A Columns port? No problem. That one Taito coin-op that I can't think of that's a puzzle game? Tetris? okay, that's been done. Heck, there was one even done in Extended Basic. Bejeweled? Sure. I just never figured out an algo to determine if there's no more possible moves left. And then there's the non-puzzle games. Space Zap. Why not? Dream Shopper. Maybe? It's tile-ish.

What were the hardest arcade coin-op games?

Pole Position, at least the NES version of it, is possible to play & enjoy. Even though it's not analog control for the steering, I managed quite well. I just played the Xbox 360 port, and was hitting the rumble strips non stop. Make Trax. Yep, only half the # of enemies, but they are faster than you. They will kill you. -
It's $110 for that new Tony Hawk game.

Funny you should mention that. I found that issue at Mall of America's Barnes & Noble just last Sunday. I normally hit MicroCenter for my RetroGamer fix, but decided to stop in. Walked out with that issue, another RG issue(Final Fantasy) and volume 3 of RG's compilations. Set me back $42. I'm keepin' it though for I have had no time to read it. You call MicrocCenter or any of the other B&N's in the area? Some stores seem to carry 'em, some don't.

The curse of Atari lives on.

I bought a N64 controller at Goodwill, and just this morning sold my other N64 controller to a coworker for his son for $10.

Finally kiled the mothrakk. I hid behind the arena entrance wall. The sucky part was I got him to an inch of his health, then died on one of his double attacks. He attacks more frequently when he's almost dead(as per video game rules). 2nd time wasn't so bad. Just lots of hits with the elephant gun & dodging his fireballs. Thankfully you can buy ammo in the arena foyer.

I was the leech from last night, and I'm still not finished. I saw about 4 people at 100% and 2 downloading, not including me.

Which assembly learn-how book was the tan colored one? I had that book, but sadly, it got real confusing after the first 5 pages. -

There is a famiclone that looks like a squished NES. Is it that one? -

Mirocenter sells the new in box RetroDuo etc and Famiclone friends, but no (pirated) games. Maybe those? As for Wally World not carrying pirated famicom games, you probably are right. However, CarreFour, a WalMart-like place in other countries, at least in Taiwan, sells xxx-in-1 pirated Famicom sytems and even has in-store demo units. -
Fifty frickin' dollars for Connect Four for the TI? Wow. Guess $60 for an AAA title nowadays isn't so bad. omg, remember COMPUTERLAND?
