  1. I think the CV homebrew situation/scene/etc is doing a lot better than that other console. There, I said it.
  2. I still someday want to make a standard PC case out of a TI-99/4A's Peripheral Expansion box, and recycle as many parts as possible.
  3. I have HDMI out, but the port next to it is so darn close(and covers over a bit), a regular HDMI cable won't fit. You either have to buy MS's proprietary cable, or shave down your 360's audio cable to do it.
  4. After seeing other people's Vault 101 costumes on the web, I don't feel so bad about mine, with the central stripe being off-center(due to the flap covering the zipper being the "left") and not going down all the way. Other costumes were just blue jumpsuits with 2 or so yellow stripes & that's it. Heck, someone made a Pip Boy 2000(Fallout 2), which resembles a high tech Bento box.
  5. I am completely lost on what is being discussed in this thread. More paragraph breaks, less crack pipe.
  6. And the finished product. A grand total of 8 people got it last night. There was only one other video game-related costume. She was Morrigan Aensland from Puzzle Fighters, but dates back to Darkstalkers. I had to look that one up. Used parts of an umbrella for bat wings.
  7. There's probably a section on Mobygames too, but there aren't many reviews on it. Moreso just a reference.
  8. There's also a handful of Jag reviews on http://www.videogamecritic.net/. Just click Jaguar on the left.
  9. I do component with my 360, for alas I don't have MS's proprietary HDMI cable thingy. The nice thing is that my cable TV is also component, and the mechanical switchbox handles component. With the press of a button, my audio & video are switched to/from cable to the 360.
  10. I don't use Opera, so I don't have the context menu you show.
  11. Automatically opening links in new windows/tabs is quickly going out of style on the web. Most big link-driven sites I visit on any regular basis (Digg, Reddit, Slashdot, etc.) all open links in the same window. The developers of this forum software made a conscious decision to stop forcing links to open in another window and let the user decide. One issue is if you force a link to open in another window, the user cannot prevent that from happening. However, if you avoid doing this, then the user can open the link in the same window or another window/tab--it's his or her choice. ..Al That I can understand. There was a point where it seems every link on the internet was opening to a new window. This was noticeable back in the days of IE.....8. No really, why does IE spawn new windows when I want them to spawn in TABS? Stop it. You're already late to the tabbed browsing party, Microsoft. There's still a part of me that wants a context menu option of "open in same window". That way, we have all 3 options available.
  12. A few weeks ago, I thought I would try to play some CV games in MESS. Set up all the appropriate file paths & such, but rotten luck. I swear less than half the games actually worked. This was with the latest version of MESS. Any idea? The CV bios file checked out alright. Should I just give up & try ColEm yet? I would prefer a one size fits all emulator, than 20-30 single-console emulators of varying quality.
  13. Links no longer open in a new tab(er, window) like they used to. I missed that. Sure, I can hit Ctrl, but I have become so used to sites automatigically specifying a new tabbie mc-tabtab.
  14. I played a bit last night. I miss the Fallout-ish RPG elements. Not sure if this is a $50 title. Seems more like $30.
  15. Homer, if you're not buying it, I'm starting to think you're going to earn a commission on this sale somehow, some way.
  16. Well, our economy's still in the crapper, then if you are a reseller, you have to jump through all the hoops to sell those games again. Plus, there's the issue of shipping. Honestly, if you are buying classic video games just to "flip them" like real estate, the hobby loses all fun. If I had $350 burning a hole in my pocket, I would be buying a modern console.
  17. Five Hundred? I had one of these, almost. Kinda. I used to work for Blockbuster video, and when they throw stuff out, we get dibs. I remember having access to one of these, but only taking the virtual boy guts out of it.
  18. I remember talking to The Space Boss about moving over to atariage for discussions, and he couldn't understand what I was talking about. IIRC he asked if that was on usenet. Maybe it was a blessing.

    MAME

Plain MAMEUI(or is it called MAME32) will do that? The plainest of the plain MAME will support it. Just get the ROMs(ie games) off of bittorrent or Soulseek.
  20. I also remember there was some character named SSSSSPACEWALK that wasn't well-liked on there. Maybe it would have been best to just killfile anyone with "boss" in their name. Sorry Aaron J. Bossig.
  21. So who used to be on this newsgroup? When comcast ditched usenet altogether(I'm not payin' for it), that's when I stopped bothering with the newsgroup. It was not a bad ng, back in the day. My first musings on the Interwebs drew me to it where there were no forums like these or anywhere else. Sadly, the ratio of video game discussion to people peddling video game stuff got out of hand. It was like 70% postings of people hocking stuff on EBay and focus was lost. There were some good, smart people on there. Then there was The Space Boss. That guy is a complete wackjob, and oh so entertaining. You would see his posts at 3am going "COULD ATARI HAVE MADE IT IN 1997 IF THEY SO AND SO..." and "WHAT WERE THE BEST ATARI GAMES WITH THE LETTER Q?!?". That man lived for video games. He even had a web page up with some songs he made that were just downright hilarious("defradies defradies defradies"). Sadly, the trolls & spam started to take over as expected, and it seemed like 20% of the posts was just spam from that guy selling Atari goods from his house(Bravo Sierra). Ahh, good ol rgvc.
  22. Plumbers Don't Wear Ties isn't actually Full Motion Video. It's a series of still shots. You can actually see that the images were taken with a cheap 35mm camera(digicams weren't available then). I think it would actually be fun to make some crappy homebrew sequel due to the sheer strangeness of the game content. Heck, you could remake it easily in Flash, or make it playable via DVD menus.
  23. Costume came in today. Real tight on the crotch for just an auto mechanic jumpsuit. But, it will do. Not exactly centered on the stripes, but again, it'll do.
  24. No offense to UK Mike, but his comedy segments have nothing to do with video games(most of the time), and is moreso just playing with sound bytes. Oddly enough, one copy of ITunes I have lists all audio track lengths in Hour:minute, but my copy at work is just minute(for almost easy fast-forwarding).
  25. The one video where they showed off their acquired Atari 2600 + cartridges was missing one very important thing: actual gameplay footage. They do it later, but a video where they just show the hardware & push the carts towards the camera on its own doesn't do anything. I guess I prefer more original coverage of video games, not things that have already been covered hundreds of times by other YouTubers.
