  1. The hardware quality is not bad. The on-off switch is a bit tiny, but usable. The D-Pad actually fares better than most other d-pads where the input gets mushy. The d-pad's raised a bit from the chassis so you have a bit of room to travel with. Buttons are small, but not too small. A nice feature is added-in turbo buttons, not unlike my "TV Game console" system.
  2. Does it sound like that in real life, or is all that hissing in the background and screechy sounds the way it really plays?? btw, 5/5 for good coverage, we all had to know. Does 1942 really sound like that?? Also, does anyone else remember the prototype controllers that Sony was trying out for the PS3? It reminds me of what they looked like. The noise was my fault. I turned off "microphone boost" in the other vids, and that solved the problem. Never had much luck recording audio in general with my system.
  3. I like how the TI-99/4A version of Donkey Kong has the 4th level and some others don't. C'mon, the TI, the red-headed stepchild of home computers, and thus, arcade ports.
  4. I decided to add the Senario 101-in-1 collection Friday since it was 10 bucks. I also have the POP Station(PSP lookalike, LCD game), 2 Famiclones, a Chintendo Vii and 2 xxx-in-1 pirate carts I bought in Taiwan.
  5. I'll have to decipher the screenshot a bit. The jiggly font they decided to use for the opening screen is a bit hard to read. Funny, *Billy Mays voice* you don't get one, but TWO snake games in this system. The d-pad is a bit better than others, as it's raised a bit from the controller, not unlike analog thumbsticks. This made games like F1 Racer(ie Pole Position) not as frustrating to play.
  6. I played some games last night. Strange... 1. The paper list of games don't exactly match the list of games on the interactive menu. 2. The name of the game on the interactive menu mare different than the game's title screen. 3. There's a few games that apparently were listed as public domain, complete with a website address for more info. I like this one so far. I haven't encountered any repeats yet. Some have level selects. Did see some misspellings through, which is a rite of passage for these types of systems.
  7. I just bought one of these at Walgreens, so I'll have the verdict, and probably YouTube playthrough videos later on..
  8. I mean really, the NERVE of these Mall employees not having intricate knowledge of the copyrights of almost 30 year old video games! If they are too lazy to put these through a disassembler & checking against known good ROMs, why do they even show up to work? Paul Blart: Mall Copyright Enforcement Cop
  9. As someone who has like 20 copies of Star Force due to pirate Famicom carts + Famiclones, I'm not surprised at all. Walgreens, Target, etc don't have the intricate videogame knowledge we know to detect an illegally copied famicom game that's almost 30 years old. Mind you, you step in a major department store like CarreFour in Taiwan, and they have no shortage of Famiclones with built-in games available with playable display units. DON'T get the Dreamgear game systems whatsoever. There's almost nothing for Famicom games there. Most of them are originals, and quite boring. It is the Action 52 of the modern days. I might have to stop by Walgreens to pick this up & make YouTube videos of this, especially for 10 bucks. You do see the same titles over and over and over again. It's always the early Famicom titles, which are typically arcade ports, some common(Galaga, etc) and some not so common(where you could find on MAME). There's still one xxx-in-1 Famicom pirate cart I still want that has quite a few good games on it.
  10. There was also an episode of Mr. Wizard's world featuring a Vectrex + light pen. The guest draws an airplane.
  11. I trust all my computer news & computer purchasing decisions from a website called ethiopianreview.com I get all my investment advice from Nigerian Financial Times as well.
  12. Someone took my idea. But they did it beautuflly. Wish I could find a bigger pic of it. Anyways, back to me doing volunteer work for Brawl of America northern regionals in 2 hours.
  13. In the twin cities, the mall kiosk classic game traders have premium prices. The highest I saw was a Flashback 2 console(in a store, not a kiosk) used for 50 clams. Loose carts were like 7 bucks, but only up to Atari 2600. Meh. I will stick to Discland. Oddly they have boxed Odyssey 2 games, but zero Vectrex games, and I bought all of their CV(both) games.
  14. I always wanted to write an Onion-like article about releasing a brand new Atari console. The console would just have 1 button joysticks, still use cartridges & offer no online gameplay, in the name of simplicity, all done in a satirical manner.
  15. I lived a mile form the creator of Legends. Real great guy who knew his TI stuff, front to back. Good to hear this project is still going on.
  16. Here's a better page outlining the NES version of Death Race. http://www.nesplayer.com/features/grandtheftwhat/index.htm
  17. This is true. That's my only gripe with DealExtreme. When I bought my OneStation, I had to have a coworker buy it for me and I just gave him the cash. They have a lot of wonderful goods at rock bottom prices over there at DE.
  18. I have more than my share of early 80s video game books, and this is the first I have heard of it. Looks like an interesting read.
  19. To me, video podcasts are a bit overrated while audio ones do just great for general roundtable discussion. Maybe an occasional bonus video podcast here & there. There seems to be no shortage of homebrews popping up to discuss. The key is not to have a 4 hour interview with just one person 'bout it. And don't feel pressured to have the "token British guy" on it.
  20. There should be an AtariAge podcast. Requirement: Have the podcast not suck. Yes, one should be made, and I promise I won't give it a harsh review n stuff.
  21. Interesting.. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.28970~r.37968431 Even a rapidshare download link for games!
  22. I saw a clan already on the default channel called KoP - Killers of PLayers. I was only able to play with 1 guy for a while. Not really much initiative to join games(not me, others), but yet they stay on the channel.
  23. I was surprised last night when I fired up Diablo, that the battle.net online function still works. Sadly, not much action on joining games nor getting people to join when you host. And sadly, one game was hampered by one player killing me over & over again.
