  1. I have an '08 model purchased in April, never got an overheat or any ring of death. Am I lucky, or did I just get the later, no-overheat model?
  2. Reminds me of how self-important BBS operators thought of their own BBS. Total ego trip.
  3. That movie freaked me out. I was 32 when I saw it.
  4. There's a certain Brazil-like beauty in the "sidecar" expansions for the TI. Nice & bulky, but not as practical as the PEB that was built like a sherman tank. I still want to gut one to make the ultimate retro casemod.
  5. I remember playing it back in the day, and ran into bug #1. I was doing real well and got stuck at that point. I bought it at an Atari users group meeting.
  6. You have to admit it is surreal to see this setup that's 20 years before Xbox Live & PSN. To joke with kids about "well they didn't have xbox live for the Atari 2600", well. yeah, they did, sorta.
  7. While I don't have HDMI, component's just great for my 360 + cable TV also on component: I make ONE switch with my switchbox and I can go between cable & xbox.
  8. As a TI-99/4A owner, I was jealous of all the other 8 bits for one reason: SUPPORT.
  9. It goes too fast to be enjoyable after about 5 minutes of playing.
  10. I only posted general gameplay videos to demonstrate what comes on the console or cartridge. Fun stuff. Don't use a camcorder to record the TV screen. it's redundant. Use a TV capture card which is a lot cheaper & directly records the video.
  11. I love the low-resolution pixel guy, and the fact the next level "zooms in". very innovative.
  12. I had off and on luck with my video ipod(60 gig) + my 360. Sometimes it took forever to "load" the tunes library to see it. I moved over to fuppes.
  13. I just got the violin for the Agatha's song misison. Wow is vault 92 a looter's heaven. I brought as much as I could with Charon to take back to make weapons. Thankfully, didn't hit any Deathclaws on the way out.
  14. Wasn't there Copy 2 Plus? Forgot if it was for DOS or Apple.
  15. Just saw this... A tribal guy goes to another guy and says there's going to be a Donkey Kong kill screen in the tent. WTF? My Name is Earl has done video game references several times before, but to reference that annoying dork from King of Kong? Quite a reach there. I'm impressed. Only 12 people would have gotten that. I'm convinced one of the writers on My Name is Earl is on here. Show yourself! This goes beyond the Missile Command episode of Chuck.
  16. Takoma park at the beginning was not fun since you are surrounded by cars & the super mutants quickly shoot you, blowing them up. You get more damage from cars than from their guns. Thankfully Charon survived & the Talon mercenaries were no biggie. Never went inside the building. I still am perplexed how I'm going to take care of the last behemoth in the wide-open area west of Megaton. I was thinking of laying a network of bottlecap mines & getting a shot off with a fat man. Wonder if I can hide inside the teddy bear area out of his reach. All other behemoth encounters involved safe cover: 1. GNR plaza has plenty of safe vantage points + backup 2. Takoma, while wide open, lets you stand on that trailer + the mortars soften him & his mutant entourage up 3. capitol building has him inside a big room he can't get out(but how did he get in?). 4. Raiders have the 4th behemoth in a cage and you can safely let him out by standing on a train car & snipe. Hmm....
  17. I'm still playing. I took a wrong turn and ended up sniping the Behemoth at Takoma park. I just used my gauss rifle(from anchorage) and it can even knock him down. So while he was down, I just kept taking more & more shots. Wanted to use the fat man, but this did the job just fine. He was so far away, he didn't even see us.Even in line of sight there must be a distance limit to his perception, ie less than a sniper rifle's range.
  18. The phone with the alligator clips was always referred to as a "beige box" to me & my friends. Black box was something else entirely. Though a friend's tinkering, him & I had nicely decked out beige boxes made from these Conair phones. It had an earphone jack, mic jack, a line tester button(+led), a mute switch, and a phone line I called the "trifoce" cable, which contained a standard RJ-11 connector, alligator clips & the telephone interface box "plug" thingy. Sadly, I can no longer find my "nairpho"(since the letters around Conairphone were cut off) beige box. My alternate "beige box" was a "clueless" phone that featured a voice changer, and if someone on an extension picks up, it says in the phone "someone is listening". Great if you don't wan't to get caught.
  19. Fun factoid: I used to know Ed Johnson who created Legends for the TI-99/4A 20-something years ago. His house is a couple miles from mine.
  20. With these constant re-releases of the same games, they are at risk of pulling a 7800 against themselves here.
  21. If they could make MESS with a better interface without the disclaimer screens......
  22. Just bought it & played a few games. How can you get the game audio & the MP3s to play together? I can't find a way to un-mute the game audio. Other games can do it. I also realized that Gain Ground is a rather dull game. In all of its mystique obscurity, it's a slowed down Gauntlet to some extent.
  23. The graphics didn't stack up too terribly well. Yes, the 8x8 pixel graphics per character & sprites(up to 16x16) were nice, but still, you had limitations in how much free character space you had to do the graphics with. It was more limited in Extended basic than in regular basic. No fancy scrolling routines, sadly.
  24. This seems like a better compilation than the Sega Classics collection I have(PS2)
