New podcast in the Spirit of RetroGamingRadio
S1500 replied to Parrothead's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Allow me some constructive criticism: 5 and a half hours is much too long for a podcast. I would have split it up into 3 episodes or the like. -
So I bought the Diablo 1 and 2 pack(with the add-ons). What's the easiest way of playing this on my Acer Aspire One without the obvious CDs? I'm considering mounting them as ISO images to satisfy the game's needs, and/or the DiabloSaver. just wondering if anyone else has done this before on a netbook. They give you a LOT of stuff with this Diablo pack!

I just find it odd they would make an Atari 2600 game after a teen sex comedy. Then again, they made all those "adult" titles for the 2600 as well, but this game wasn't as billed as so. How can it be a Porky's game where if you press the fire button, your player instantly strips off his clothes(even in public) thinking he's gonna get laid?

Any game that involves an "escort mission" is usually dread for me. It's up to you, the one with the firepower, to safely escort a person/vehicle/whatever that has no firepower, from point A to B while antagonists try to attack what you are escorting. So what are the best/worst escort missions in games? All I know is that I usually fail no matter what the game, etc is. Usually it's multiple attackers going after your target, and you have to pick one, than the others to save the day. Thankfully in Fallout 3, escorts seem to be optional. For fun I followed the kids from Paradise Falls to Little Lamplight for fun. We had quite a few random encounters, including 2 Super Mutants. The kids are immortal,so no risk. I also escorted my dad across the wasteland to Rivet City, and he took some oddball routes. I accidentally killed a wasteland medic caught in the crossfire, which netted me a whopping 27 stimpaks!

Secret new Atari console project
S1500 replied to Fort Apocalypse's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
I am reminded of an article on The Onion where this guy has plans to make his own car, to take on the big 3. -
I got a TI in '82, and used it WAY longer than I should have. Up until '90.

I remember Targets carrying cheap-ass C64 games in gold cardboard boxes for MANY years after the C64 fell out of the mainstream. Can't pinpoint the year though. Funny to see such relics still for sale.

I think I only found 7.

IIRC Xonox's former headquarters is somewhere in the twin cities. Tempted to take a picture of what it is now to show you all.

Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection
S1500 replied to PressureCooker2600's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I would buy it for the high # of games. Typically classic game comps don't put on as much as they could stuff on a DVD. Mind you, Sega made quite a few coin-op games in the early 1980s, and they could easily stuff em on there. -
How to get past the "key" icon with fb 2
S1500 replied to drewsky6's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
Not to threadjack, but I love the FB2 mod here. It's a spot-on mod complete with the retro switches! Oh you must tell us more. -
A D-pad would have been too good to use with the 7800. They have a reputation to keep.

I can live without the reference to ET in the book. The history around it has been covered a thousand times.

No skills are gained for using the skills, just experience. It doesn't seem to matter too much what your initial skills are chosen to boost in the game, as there's several ways to boost skills later on in the game. 1. bobble heads(10 points each) 2. books(1 point each, 2 for using some perk?) 3. miscellaneous items. There's a charm bear that gives you 10 permanent speech inc points in Oasis, that somehow wasn't available to me. 4. oddball perks earned thru quests 5. regular perks you choose. I might forego the "stat booster perks" in favor of ones that you can't get otherwise, like the animal friend perk. Animal friend is ONLY available through perks. I'm at level 20 and most of my skills are in a pretty respectable high position, except for explosives and melee. I don't see much of a point for melee(or is it unarmed?) as most of the enemies here have guns. For all repairs I do, I switch to the vault 101 utility jumpsuit(which boosts repair), do my repairs, then switch back to my regular armor all in the pip boy. Before all transactions, I switch to the roving trader suit + hat for a quick 10 point boost for trade, and so forth.

BAHAHHA Did you ever have an incredibly appropriate song on your MP3 player play during a game? I go around in Vault 108 with all the Gary clones. Guess which track of all tracks decides to play? "Clones" by Alice Cooper. Hi-frickin-larious. Could not have picked a better song. FUPPES didn't even abruptly end it either!

Can I buy this expansion pack and still safely play the original without it screwing up my original game? I'm at repair 100. It's nice to have long-lasting, heavy-hitting weapons. I now have Charion on my side, and gave him the power armor I can't use. From the YouTube vids, I thought he was some Brotherhood buddy, but nope, just wearin' the armor. He's good. He sneaks when you sneaks, and even chucked a grenade at a supermutant. I felt bad though when I forgot to take my ghoul mask off during some outside fights, as it has a tiny bit of damage. I have to remember to take that off when I'm outside in a ghoul-free zone.

1. When I did a bulk upload, it sent me to a blank page. Not knowing the images DID get uploaded, I uploaded them a second time. Oops. 2. No way to delete individual pictures from an album I can find. What's the way to do it?

So I'm listening to some old KROQ airchecks that have now answered a question in the back of my mind. Did video game RADIO(not just television) commercials exist? Yep. I just heard an Atari commercial with the familiar jingle(dew dew dew du deww dewdew). Surprised it's not on DigitalPress' audio library if not already. On my todo list: extract the audio & attach it here. If I still had a pirate radio station show or a shoutcast stream up, I would put it on in a heartbeat.

I like how individual games now tell you how much your life is wasted away on it. Lego Star wars: 25 hrs(on each version). Fallout 3: approaching 100.

Fallout 3 - good/bad karma meter True Crime: New York City - good cop/bad cop meter There has to be many more.

Anybody have or had video game watches?
S1500 replied to KIWASABI's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Yep, I too had the Nelsonic Pac Man watch. On the bottom the strap-holder part partially broke, so it's now a pocket watch. I gotta go find it again & get a new battery put in to see if it works. -
Did it. Easier than I thought. I stood near "the box", laid some bottlecap mines between me & them, parked RL-3 near the mannequins, and was almost ready. Nope, Forty steps on a mine, so it's go time. Whipped out the Alien blaster & took care of them all. For some bizarre reason(miss?) I accidentally killed RL-3. He was a pile of ashes, so it was me. Oh well. Let's pour a Nuka-Cola on the pavement for a dead home. Eh, I can just reload & try again. I freed the slaves(at least the willing ones) and yet it shows zero as "people captured". Eh, who cares. Looted the place & left. Got my Quantums I wanted.

Wii is really starting to burst with crap (games)
S1500 replied to cimerians's topic in Nintendo Wii / Wii U
Look at a Wii game section at target, and it's 50% white, 50% pink. The article is right, but I see most of the titles as "happy kitty rainbow flyer II" and other boring child-friendly titles. I would rather look through the titles for the 360, 99% of them being "Big guy with 15-foot gun that's impossibly light shooter II". Eh, I'll take the latter. -
1. I did all the "optional" extra bits in the survival guide except for bring a mine back from Minefield. Eh, it's okay. That includes getting REALLY crippled(ie body parts), not hurting mirelurks, & getting 600 rads. Okay, I skipped the extra # of mole rats, but oh well. 2. I'm at level 17(i know, embarassing). I was using I think the combat shotgun for the first go, and the flamer for the last time + missile launcher to get the party started. Looking at the youtube video, looks like the key is to NOT be spotted in the "center" area since EVERYBODY notices you(minigun guy, bar patrons, guys around the campfire). They all just mob you. Eulogy's balcony looks like way too much of a noticeable vantage point, where everyone could get an easy shot on you. Perhaps I should skip the missile launcher & shoot with faster-loading weapons so I can use the pip boy + stimpaks in between reloads. I will just try again near the preservation chamber as I can just hide out of sight there, and use lots of sneaking around.
