  1. Wow, I buzzed by real quick on Moria's survival guide after the mirelurks. Still no luck clearing Paradise falls again. Last time, I made the mistake of not putting on my armor(I was fixing up things). This time, I was real low on health, and apparently didn't hit the pip boy in time, as I died. It seems that during the reload animation on the missile launcher, you can't go into the PIP boy, but people can still hit you. Had some fun seeing if I could drop mines around without everyone getting hostile. Guess what, you can. That is, until someone walks over one, then everyone gets hostile. I sectioned myself off near the preservation chamber, did some shooting, but failed. No point using the flamer when too many enemies are far from you, shooting at you. The stealth boy is useless at this point. I might try the "gun sign route", where I have 3 walls around me, and let them come at me. OR, I lay down bottlecap mines towards the shelter, and let them come at me. Maybe park RL-3 opposite near me(near the mannequins) as he fights when you tell him to stay put. I just want him & me out of the range of the minigun guy. ac
  2. Got the dart gun finally. Odd. I didn't know the Mirelurk area at the Anchorage war memorial was so close to the Ant area("Those"). I thought it was in Core DC that you had to traverse the tunnels, etc through. This is weird. I seem to be going through the easy/beginner locations while I'm at level 16. The Tepid sewers has a bunch of mole rats and a couple raiders. I didn't know you could clear the targeting data which kills all the raiders & mole rats. Heh. The comic book factory was fun, but with animal perk + ghoul mask, there wasn't much resistance. I actually played all the way through the barbarian text adventure. Didn't get anything for winning though. Next up, a quick visit to the easy part of the mirelurk hatchery so Moria will stfu about them.
  3. Can't go on the first day, MNRG bout on Saturday.
  4. Ethernet forever. Really, even though it's 2009, there's ways other than wireless to connect to the InternetWebAOL.
  5. I'll be glad to see a new podcast fill Shane's shoes. I quite miss RGR. I would like to request that the new podcast try to cut down the length from three hours to something a little more concise though. Will it be available to subscribe to in iTunes? Indeed. 3 hours is overkill. IMO, 1 hour is perfect. If you have 3 hours, you can space 'er out to three episodes. Definitely an RSS feed for EZ Itunes sub.
  6. Retrogamer magazine comes straight from the UK, and I read every page of it. I could see James May doing some sort of tv special about classic 'putas(ZX, etc). Heck I'd watch that.
  7. It's because I have the "Silent Running" perk. Now the question is when's the Gridcycle gang podcast coming to reality?
  8. Sounds good. I highly recommend reading the "gaming related podcasts?" topic I made a short while back. Plenty of sage advice there. What we need is another Twitch Asylum, and not another Retrocore.
  9. No luck clearing out Paradise Falls. What's the strategy? There's a TON of baddies there. I try doing an all-out assault from the "no guns" sign, only to die in a few minutes. They have good guns & manage to get shots on me. Even with the fat man & missle launcher + stealthboy + RL-3 buddy, I died..twice. Despite having silent running + high sneak, I still get seen with the stealth boy. Perhaps I assume too much by thinking I'll be 100% invisible with it. Maybe take a covert ops route? I saw a guy clear out PF with a hunting rifle, at night. I raided in the day, when apparently it's really busy. Also, I can't find the dart gun blueprint ANYWHERE. I went to some place north of paradise falls, cracked a safe, nothing. Can't seem to find it for sale(I have good karma) at tenpenny towers. Maybe i'll hit tenpenny again & look around.
  10. You could play through a whole game each day(except duplicates) and still not have enough time.
  11. Foiund my first graphics glitch. Near the UFO crash, part of the area was projecting brown into the sky, and a straight laser beam shot out of the area(not infinite). The area it projected from had all these colorful textures around it. Real psychadelic, and thankfully non-crashing. I then ventured onward towards GNR and all sorts of fun blastalarity ensued. Killed the caged Behemoth, and then later the game decided to punish me by bringing out another behemoth that promptly swatted away my RL-3 and myself with no effort. The helpful yao gai didn't last a minute WOW is it nice to have the ghoul mask & animal friend perk. The ghouls attack raiders & super mutants, so I watch them soften each other up & I go in for the effort. Wow are the underground tunnels linear. And now I have a halfway-repaired power suit I can't use yet!
  12. You could call them both bad. The side fire-buttons were too flush with the casing. The promised 32 position d-pad didn't promise. The d-pad was Xbox 360 controller d-pad bad.
  13. After the patch, Confessor Cromwell & the water guy are still MIA. So I went to Evergreen Mills and ended up staying awake until 12:30 adventuring. Amazed to find yet ANOTHER Fat Man. The slaves would NOT escape, regardless of the fact I killed all the baddies except for the Super Mutant. Quite a bit to loot to steal here. My karma rating is now "jesus". Also found 7 alien power cells.
  14. Hey, PODCASTERS! Life is not like The Simpsons. Does every episode have to be "A special episode dedicated to 3+ hour podcasts!"? No, seriously. What ever happened to a normal episode? Any shred of a 'dedication', or "tribute" or "nod" to, ends up having to be way longer than anyone cares to listen to.
  15. I love MAME. MAME is beautiful. MAME is immersion into early 1980s nostalgia. It is a trip to the arcade of the mind's eye. The unseen, almost mytholigical copyright violation ghosts & other demons shall be kept away. For fear of your door being busted down for enjoying "Chiller" is the only manifestation of these "enforcers". Play well!
  16. I actually like that Xbox 360 controller with the keyboard on it. I could talk to my bff Jill. Maybe if I was more social on Xbox Live, it would be useful to me. Better yet, why can't we surf the web with a 360, yet Sega consoles can? Why?
  17. I had a Jaguar, and did not like the big "cylinders" on the side to hold it. So I'm going to go against the atariage grain here and put my vote in for disliking it.
  18. Click on the "More Search Options" link after clicking "Search" and you should see the advanced search options page. Thanks for the tip. What with the dark color scheme and my monitor settings, I completely missed that! Wow, are they convoluted. I just tried that. It popped up a new window that only give me the option of selecting which forum to search in and a check box option to select most relevant or most recent. There was yet another button for more options that you had to click to pull up the full search window. To that end, yes, they default to search posts, not titles. WHAT? You want to be able to search for information on forums EASILY? You speak in riddles, flying car future man! So I finished the Big Town mission. Did it straightforward with sniper rifles, missile launchers & mines. You can shoot a super mutant from behind with rebar, etc in the way, and it barely touches him, nor will he take notice of you. Pretty good haul coming back, especially the Fat Man. After getting back to Big Town was funny. My skill of "sneak" came up to train the town residents, all looking at me. So I crouch, and all(but 1) crouch in front of me. Funny. I now have 8 stealthboys for my Mirelurk quest(or anything). I just keep finding 'em and hoarding. Like the fact I now know how to remove dud passwords, and can usually get really lucky finding the right password on the first getgo.
  19. It seems one lesson learned before the crash, but not by Atari was that a telephone-like numeric keypad has no place on a video game controller. Too much real estate taken up. Atari with the 2600 & 7800 had too few buttons, now they go as far as too many buttons on the 5200 & Jag. Move the buttons around a bit, don't make 'em so uncomfortable in a 3x4 grid. Explore around!
  20. I always got frustrated by this game since the green pit on the left seems to be the only way out. You only get one shot to escape that way(enroute to your saucer) and if you overshoot the ceiling hole, you fall in the green pit. Ugh.
  21. Will we ever learn from history? Actually, this doesn't look as uncomfortable as the Jag controller. The company website says nothing. The Grippity!
  22. I really gotta tell Mr Gutsy to hold back once in a while. He accidentally fired on a car, it blew up REAL good & I got hurt pretty dang bad. But we worked together & killed that ant queen.
  23. It's amazing how much can happen in ONE instance of this game. I fast travel to the B&B, expecting no raiders. Yep, there were raiders. In addition to that, there was one of the traders coming by, AND there were Talon Mercs looking for me in the wrong direction(away from the action). Funny. Got done with the Dunwich building, but without killing Jamie just yet. Just wanted some items & left. Now I'm in vault 106. The Gutsy robot is getting more kills than I am down there.
  24. Wow, that Mr. Gutsy I bought sure can't stand up to 3 measly raiders. 1000 caps down the drain, so I couldn't save it. Weird thing happened when I was doing a screwoff session(ie don't save) last night. I walk into a building with a buncha ghouls in it. I open a door & see a glowing one. For a brief amount of time, the building flashes before me in perfectly good condition & I see a regular guy just standing there. Some sort of quick flashback to when things were better? Wow is that ghoul mask handy. And I'm back to good karma after giving that guy some water. Confessor Cromwell is nowhere to be found. That guy that works at the water treatment plant who will take scrap metal: gone. ugh.
