  1. Well, do you have a laptop with an S-video out port? I have one, just never got around to hooking it up to my HDTV. Or do you have a video card on your PC that has a DVI out port? Have an HDTV? Cable 'em together & you can play it on the tele.
  2. So I'm going through my youtube videos, and a commenter said one of my Famiclones was made by Advance Bright Limited. So I go to their website, and find THIS. It's like my system, but it runs famiclone games off of a CD. I instantly recognize one of the games on the pic(Fun Click). Yet it runs on CDs? I wonder how hackable is it to put Nintendo ROMs on a disk & play them. Found no way to purchase it yet. Hmm... EDIT: False alarm. Another web search shows "fake" disks, according to this manufacturer website. I love the fact you can order these Famiclones from the manufacturer in batches & sell 'em at mall kiosks until you get shut down.
  3. If it makes people feel any better. I paid too much for my 26 inch store demo HDTV for $800. It only goes up to 720. Now I see bigger HDTV sets that do 1080 for significantly less. But I figure it's early adopter prices.
  4. Actually I breezed right through the podracing segment. All you have to do is hit a handful of boostpads, and you pass sebulba. I even got all 10 minikit parts with little effort, as well as "true jedi". Had a heullva time getting a visible, but impossibly high minikit in "The judland wastes". You have to steer off course to find a cluster of junk(detonated by a thermaler), go past that, do some puzzles, and then you can fly off a nearby ledge(with R2) and then you get it. You can't jump with Jar jar to get it.
  5. Does anybody know the phone number of those Famiclone knockoff makers in Asia? They can probably make a FB2 faster than Atari could pronounce "Flashback". Sure, it wouldn't be legal, but at this point, who cares?
  6. Ugh. So Saturday I bought Lego Star Wars: the Complete saga for Xbox 360 since I'm so dang addicted to the game. Sadly, Episodes 1-3 isn't as fun as episodes 4-6. (spoilers) But what got me was the last chapter in Episode 3. There's a running sequence where you have to follow Anakin TO THE PIXEL, jumping across gaps & having floor tiles fall behind you & ahead of you. It took me 20 tries to get past this. It's not unlike that one sequence in Battletoads that people have gotten frustrated over. Other than that, I'm having fun with the game. Wish I could have ported my Lego SW: the original trilogy save over, for I got pretty dang far in that(over 70%).
  7. Probably since it's for such a niche audience. Thus, we bittorrent it. Same goes for the BBS Documentary.
  8. King of Kong was in theaters(in Minneapolis) for a very brief amount of time. It was also on Comcast on Demand ,but the description once didn't mention video games.
  9. I always loved that quip(about MAME). It made me laugh.
  10. It's being shown on Showtime a bunch recently. I really liked it but I think King of Kong is a better "movie" especially for people that are not super in to video games. Lots of crossover in the characters between the two movies. Did the version you saw show Robert's art collection? I've heard that's cut out in the Showtime version. y-bot I saw Robert's saucy art collection. Why am I not surprised? I almost feel kinda sorry for the guy. It looks like he hasn't slept since the Carter Administration.
  11. Just torrented it & watching it right now. This is a lot better than the over-focused King of Kong. Highly recommended.
  12. I still, with some effort, can get MESSUI(Win32) can get this near infinite loop of error dialogs to show up. The GUI to mount & unmount cartridges/disks/etc is still awkward. You set everything up right to work, and it still doesn't. There's no paragraph breaks in the help docs. Some of the keyboard/joystick config dialogs are cheap. There are build forks(at least for MAME) as there are days in the year. Yep, definitely an open source project. But still fun to play with, when it works.
  13. And that's how you are given an opportunity to screw up a franchise.
  14. So guys, should I have taken that mission or not?
  15. *sigh* Will Namco release any OTHER games on a dedicated stick and not just Pac Man, etc over and over again? There is way too much overlap on these dedicated consoles.
  16. Idea: Emulate NES Advantage-like functionality by adding some sort of interrupt to the pin of a game controller port to a rheostat + whatever to give rapid fire functionality to any system. Obviously, this won't work on modern consoles, but surely on any older consoles that have a dedicated port pin to the fire button(s). So, like, add some sort of plug-in that goes between the console & game controller and clip on/whatever hacked fire button, and you have rapid-fire. Questions: 1 .What consoles would this easily work on? 2. What's the schematics for an easy rapid fire controller? I'm not up-to-date on my electronics knowledge to know how to make one. 3. What games could you easily test it with? 4. What crazy side effects could you get from games? It would be interesting to see how games would react to a fire button pressing/depressing faster than a human can do, while staying within the clock cycles(?) that the button could be sampled from. Having a wire harness that coils around your game controller cord & crudely clips on to the controller itself would look pretty neat, like something out of Max Headroom.
  17. Gotta question. I'm done with the ant exterminator mission, so I decided to go to that church acessible from the subway station. I talked to some BoS member "Hoss", and turned down his Initiate mission(since I was low on ammo), and him & his buddy ran off. Should I go back a save & do that mission? Is it worth doing that one? Or can I re-do that mission later?
  18. I couldn't even make it to the end of the demo without dying a gruesome death.
  19. 1986: My first box of floppy disks was bought. It was made by a company called Bonus. ALL of them failed. I played with some 3.5 inch disks from less than 10 years ago, and many of them just simply didn't work at all.
  20. I'm by no means an RPGer(I've been playing just GTA-like games for years), and I'm hooked on fallout 3.
  21. I finally got around to playing last night after a 2 week hiatus. I'm right now in the subway station, so far so good, picking off ants one by one. Frenzied one of the "guardian" ants. Just now low on ammo. Just gotta sell off all the goodies I found in the station since I blew it all on the shishkebab plans(bad investment). I swear items disappear once you drop them. I dropped a few sellable items(to come back later) and can't find them whatsoever on the floor, save for the gas tank. Not much TV on tonight, so more journeying I go.
  22. My Wii knockoff, the Chintendo Vii, has a cartridge port, but only one cartridge for it. No homebrews.
  23. I still update Classic99 semi-regularly.. what makes it antiquated? I didn't know you were still updating classic 99. After awhile with all the emulators, I just gave up & used MESS with hit & miss emulation for the TI. Sadly, a lot of self-made formats popped up for things like cartridges, and sometimes it's a challenge to get running. I'll give your emulator another try.
