  1. Very interesting. Nice to see some occasional prototypes for the TI-99/4A. I woulda shrunk down the sprites for some low-rez fun.
  2. Well, this is my last day of being in Krakow, Poland. Sadly, there wasn't much classic gaming-related shopping to do. Not that it was the optimal place to do it(compared to Japan or Taiwan). I however did score one thing I could never find in US stores: a PS2-USB adaptor. I can now use up to 2 ps2 controllers on my main system. Great, since my main gaming pad's analog stick knob broke off and won't glue back on. The oddest game I saw for sale was some game where you play as the Nazis...in Polish. A game that I doubt would be available in Germany. And that was just about it for video-game related shopping,ie none. Mind you, I don't know where any good 80s antiques could be found here.
  3. You might as well focus one's energy into some sort of homebrew-made FB3 instead of begging some company to do it, for you'll get a better return on investment.
  4. I guess it's only appropriate for a company that bought Atari's coin-op division to get the "Atari disease". Heh. Great, now we'll NEVER see that Gorf port for the jagar!
  5. It's definitely in-game Radio. Yeah, too much straight talk. If you miss the first 30 seconds of it, you have zero idea of what they are talking about. I'm listening to these casually while vacationing in Poland, and I am just not picking up on it. Can't we get Retrogaming Radio back? Ugh.
  6. This, sadly, is true. I even made a "ti-994a websites that don't suck?" thread a while back that addressed this. Heck, even the emulators(save for MESS) for the TI are antiquated. I wouldn't be surprised you need an emulator to run some of the older emulators.
  7. It routes me to In-Game chat radio. Is that what you are referring to?
  8. Would there be a way to use off-the-shelf IDE CD-ROM drives to make this new console? Those things are a dime a dozen, & easy to replace if it breaks.
  9. I just never saw the point of paying for a magazine on one view of what some items are worth. You might as well market a magazine titled "What I had for breakfast quarterly". Feature story: waffles.
  10. And most YouTube users would praise you for how great your video is, especially if you add some techno or cookie monster background music. You'd have to add comments that spell out what you're doing in detail. Oh yeah, I forgot. You have to have death metal playing in the video for no reason. No way can you have the original game audio. Heck, I even saw the footage of the severely damaged head of Nick Bolea's(hulk hogan's son) former friend, and he just HAD to put music to it.
  11. I'm almost tempted to make a parody video using ALL the bad aspects of these videos(shaky cam, cam in front of TV, cliched ms movie maker titles, & pretending to be AVGN) just to illustrate problems.
  12. Holy farking crap. His framerate can be measured on a calendar. Talk about a slideshow, and the time it takes to put a game into the camera's view. I'm gonna watch more! I've seen plenty of bad video game youtube vids, I thought THIS one was the absolute worst YouTube vid for video game footage. It has all the elements: 1) pointing the camera at the TV 2) hyperactive brother holding the camera. 3) evidence of lead poisoning
  13. Fallout 3: Tons of 1950s nostalgia, despite being set in the future GTA: Vice City: mid-1980s nostalgia Bioshock: Set in 1960s, but more nostalgic for late 1940s. Vigilante 8: 1970s Surely there's more. I won't count the WW2 games, as well, it's pretty much obvious what the setting is.
  14. Weird. 2 nights ago I go venturing off with Dogmeat, and suddenly everyone hated me. I ran into Talon mercs, the 2 robots guarding a truck, and even saw about 5-6 raiders attacking some well-armed good guy. Dogmeat sadly died at the hands of the droids. So I go out & venture like a crazy man. Ran as far as Independence Point(whatever that is) to find that splinter group. Since I'm a drug addict, I don't bother saving. With everyone I've killed, I level up quickly. I go the same route again WITHOUT dogmeat, and no droids, no huge bands of raiders, etc. It's like the game ups the difficutly level when you travel with a pal. I instead run into a friendly trader & do some more looting, with only a few critters & raiders to deal with.

I have a March '08 built 360, and I sometimes put my hand up to it to see if it gets hot. It has never even once warmed up my hands. My Thinkpad creates more heat, which is good for those cold, clammy hands in winter. I also give it plenty of space around it, not burying it in the entertainment center.
  16. I love the cigarette & used dinner plate in the backgrounds!
  17. I like how the last 2 games, + the NXE allow you to make digital versions of yourself(fallout 3, saints row 2). As for the new interface, meh. I'd rather have the focus of stuff in the center, not the left.
  18. I noticed that too. It almost discourages fast travel in a way if you haven't cleared out all the baddies(or kept 'em at bay). At the elementary school, I cleared out all the raiders but the ants(locked away), so I'm safe to go there. Super duper mart? Always guaranteed to have talon mercs. Thankfully, they show up as green initially, so you can teleport out, or give 'em a grenade. Found out why. There's the Talon compound right there, and it looks like they left a dumpster trap(controller vibrated & it grew), so I backed off. The 2 corpses near it shoulda clued me off. So I left a few surprises at the Talon compound door. I am STILL clearing up ants. It's basically "enemy at the gates"(never saw the movie) where I basically camp up on a perch & snipe them when they aren't noticing. Just Lee Harvey Oswald 'em over and over. Only one got close to me, and wow do they hurt. Not even the 2 mines I left to guiard me helped. Please tell me they don't respawn completely over, as I had 3 left to kill, and not a clue where to find daddy. I strayed too far and 3 ghouls came after me. Now I'm at the situation(again) where I'm really low on ammo and can't find any good sellers. The trading caravans outside of Megaton city are nowhere, and they had good stuff for sale. How much range can I get on that laser pistol?
  19. I like how I ran into the talon raiders no less than 3 times. I go to the sewer station, and we "throw down". I assume I'm safe from them for the next couple of days. Nope, I fast travel to the super duper mart, there's 3 more of 'em. Now I just want to get the "Them!" mission done. I was sniping the ants, and left Dogmeat at home. Dogmeat before bravely ran off and tried to get a fire ant worker, who was way out my range, and perished. I had more fun sniping them, keeping that random runner guy(that kids dad?) safe. Now I gotta go in.
  20. Okay, found a few new podcasts here & there. Here's a quick review of all of them so far: Twitch Asylum - By far the best retro-gaming related podcast to listen to. While the episodes are 1+hours, they are the only podcast that's worthy of that length. They even talk about classic computer games in addition to early console games. Download & enjoy. Retrogaming Radio - While the episodes are long, the content is quite in-depth. Can get kind of preachy at times. Has on-field reports at classic video game conventions and plenty more. There's a bit of egotisim I get from the 'casts, giving off a vibe they are the only retrogaming-themed podcast in town. World 1 Stage 1 - Retro Video Gaming Token British guy? Yes(two) So-so, single person podcast(?). Nothing really to write home about. Poor audio quality. Sounds like they are in a (water) closet. IGN RetroCity - One of the few podcasts that doesn't go over an hour. No 3-hour specials dedicated to Megaman 3 thankfully. Professional and nostalgic. Does a lot of focus on video game music(SID tunes, etc). Has a penalty of only one person talking. Drunken Gamers - Hey, a local podcast! While heavy on the swearing, it's pretty decent with the video game coverage. That's about all I can say about it. They should probably have me on as a guest. Retronauts - Sadly, their idea of "retro" is nothing earlier than post-crash. Mention Vectrex to them and they would give you blank stares. Controller1 Gaming - Lasted a very short time on its episode run. Just hosted by one person. Couldn't keep my interest. If one person is hosting, there's no room for conversation, and it sounds like you are just reading off a teleprompter. RetroforceGO! - Don't waste your time & bandwidth on this one. Chad's maniacal laughter every 20 seconds essentially ruins this show. He's at a 15 where they need him at a 6. Topher seems to suffer from the opposite problem. They frequently go off-topic where they fawn over each other & chat about what went on last weekend. It gets to the point where they just converse amongst themselves, forgetting they are recording a podcast. Retrocore - By far, the absolute worst podcast ever. The audio quality is abysmal. Chris' delivery is mostly stammering(or general disinterest) , and Colin sounds like a fast food drive-thru speaker. The loudest audio are his sound notifications in Skype which should be muted in the first place. He's not doing anybody any favors by having special 3 hour episodes, mostly of him going "uhh", and getting distracted by his cat. Somewhere buried in the mess is something about video game discussion, but I'm too annoyed to care. Additional guests sound like they are transmitting from Apollo 13. They shouldn't even call themselves Retrocore, as the name was already used for a video series that was interesting and informative, which this has no resemblance to. In short: best: Twitch Asylum worst: Rerocore.
  21. Videogaming & Computergaming illustrated pulled no punches reviewing good or bad Atari 2600 games.
  22. How do you "grab" a slave to give to a slaver? I found a slaver(friendly, but won't converse) and a fleeing slave in the scrapyard, but how do I do the evil deed? How do I unite them to get cash/whatever?
  23. Okay, I have a dumb question. I never seem to be able to get a VATS shot. "Accept" is always grayed out. I only got to do it a few times. Any reason why for this? Even when I haven't been hit, or I'm sneaking up on someone(they don't notice me), I still can't do it. Ugh. Sooo, what do I do? Bad & good news today. Cleared the minefield. Those mines are a pain to get rid of/steal. At one point dogmeat died after disappearing for awhile. Reload a saved game. I kill some mole rats, and go back to megaton, and lo and behold, Dogmeat returns after being gone for like 20 minutes. Strange. I decide to fast travel back to Bethesda Ruins, thinking it was the way I left it(inside untouched, just 1 sniper). Nope, I'm ambushed and there's mines around me. I die in less than a minute. WTF. Oh well.
  24. How the heck did you get to level 5 in 2 hours of gameplay? Did you play at the hardest level, which gives you more xp per kill? I've been playing for 12 hours(first time), and now I'm at level 5. Felt bad I didn't properly take the opportunity to use the protector robot to raise hell on the raiders in the supermarket.
  25. If your explosives skill is high, just walk up to the mine and disarm it. Not only will you get experience (This is great in areas where there are like 20 mines laying around) but you get to keep the mine!! Just how do you safely walk up to a mine? I got a quick beep when I was snoopin' around, and bam, arm disabled.
