  1. I love all this new retro wave music on YouTube.

its pretty much my soundtrack at work

There's a lot of good synthwave/etc. out there on youtube now - nice genre anyways. Got a few albums on my phone and a couple ones on records and CDs anyways.

  2. I was referencing good 'ol AtariAge entirely. SD&R, some constructive criticism on your YouTube vids: I would tighten them up on length. One video I saw(about some gaming hardware) in the middle went off on a long tangent that didn't contribute anything to the video. There's no minimum length for a good video.
  3. Fascinating. What does a graphics rip of Munch Man look like? N/M I found the thread for it, started by me. Heh
  4. I remember my ex kept asking me to find that game, despite me buying her the diablo box set that she can easily run on her laptop for weekend grind sessions.
  5. Isn't Diablo rare, and I'm assuming, stupid expensive?
  6. I have a feeling if this thread dies out, Stop Drop & Retro will start to disappear into non-existence like Marty McFly was doing near the end of Back to the Future..
  7. TRACKING |-------|------|

Wow - You just took me back... That was cool when VCRs had automatic tracking...

  8. Should I renew my subscription to GRIT magazine?

Was that the one in the back of comic books telling us kids to earn cash and prizes? LOL :)

  9. It's from the UK where they drive on the left, and computer games were a bit more popular than console games. And wow do they like their tea.
  10. RGDS had a great 2+ hour episode on the best games in 1983. Thumbs up Totally Uncessary podcast's episode had no retro gaming topics. Skipped.
  11. I like this. I check engadget, gizmodo, and a handful of news aggregator sites for general tech news, but there never was really one for retro gaming. There should be. There's tons for modern gaming(all pulling from the same video game news sources), why not retro? Surely there's more news than once every 2.5 months.
  12. Atari, why you no embraced RPGs or composite video output BITD? Huh?

Back in the day, just having a portible TV that had "color" was high tech enough for playing Atari games. Had to use a B&W one for a while and was blown away when I first played Cosmic Ark with color.

      GoldLeader

^Exactly MrMaddog! My first months of playing Combat and Space War were in Black and White...Then "color" was so cool! But that said, my Ataris now are modded with A/V and S-Video!

And, maybe not Atari per se, but I always thought of DragonStomper as my first real RPG! :^)

  13. I love all this newly made retro 80s music on YouTube. I could listen to it all day, like Toxxify's "Cyborg Chase"

  14. New podcast drinking game: Have a drink each time you hear about the NES Mini being discontinued.
  15. Caller, you're on the air

      save2600

I performed an A/V mod on my 2600 and now it:

      Only displays in b/w.

      Shows a dark picture.

      Shows no picture at all.

      Has jailbars.

      Has wrong colors.

      Outputs no sound.

      Has color bleed.

      Shows ghosting.

Displays a different set of wavy lines now.

Doesn't work with my LCD screen.

...can u tell me wat's wrong?

@NE146: Those are called pixels. Increase your bits and they will gradually get smaller.

Am I the 5th caller? Did I win the Deep Purple Tickets? Oh well, Can U play "This is England" by The Clash?

  16. 1. We live in the age of virtual hosting through the use of soundbytes: We have now virtual SoCalMike & Rick Reynolds. 2. Simon Butler doesn't sound like he's transmitting from an AM radio any more. So now we can hear his grouchiness loud & clear.
  17. Checking WishBookWeb, can't find any stirrup pants references.

      save2600

      how about parachute pants?

  18. That happens to me quite often. Casts are dropped in the morning, and not the night before when I'm doing my daily/weekly 'cast sync. Thankfully I have PodCatcher on both the tablet & phone to fill in the gaps. MusicBee's still a bit iffy with podcasts. Episodes that are listened to are still showing up as new.
  19. I dunno, there's a BBS we could talk about it on though, as we've seen advertised numerous times. It seems usenet has been left to the spammers & wackos. I'll never forget THE SPACE BOSS and his absolutely fascinating insights into video games, often posted at 3 in the morning.
  20. Retrogaming Roundup, Intellivisionaries & Atari 2600 GBG all have new episodes as of today. The second quarter of 2017 is looking good for podcasts.
  21. This was an arcade, now it's covered in redemption machines...

    1. GoldLeader

      GoldLeader

I looked at WalMart's Game Room and laughed the other day. the cashier asked and I said, "It's an 'arcade' with no video games and no pinballs!"

    2. GoldLeader

      GoldLeader

I went on to say it was a place where divorced fathers can talk on their cell phones, undisturbed and how WalMart must hate children. The other people in line agreed, smiled, and told me to have a nice day! ;)

  22. Wow, the Bravo Sierra spam is still being posted there on a regular basis to this day. He will probably post that for all eternity.
  23. Is that where Sum Guy shops at, a few feet from the bira bira statue?
  24. It's 2017. I can't get nostalgic for the early 2000s. Ooh playstation 2!

      And now, old and grumpy.

    2. BydoEmpire

      BydoEmpire

I used my ps2 as a DVD player a couple of weeks ago. 1st controller port is dead, though. It was a model from about 1 year after launch and it's been chugging along since then. Not nostalgic for it, though, it isn't in my top 5 or maybe even top 10 consoles.
