  1. The Retro Gamer - Reminds me of Retro Game Squad, without the teenager cohost. Episodes are nice & bite-sized(under an hour)and have actual retro content. I think this was the one that firmly said no about the Nintendo Switch talk, since it's a new console. B+
  2. Is there an Ed Roth-like pic of Rat Fink holding a giant Atari 2600 controller like it was a stick shift?

  3. The Retro Roundtable - a 2+ hour talk about SCART cables & Skype problems! With a general name like that, don't you want to hear about impedance values?
  4. So I thought I would sleep in this morning, and a weird dream happened. I was at my usual coffee spot(Caribou), and for some reason there was a neighborhood electronics recycling event going on. There was only a few people there, and just some tables of stuff. I look closer and see some 2600 & 5200 loose carts. Nothing exciting. See a few boxed TI games in the distance. I look under the table, and see storage tubs full of stuff. I spot a Vectrex! I put 2 controllers in my hoodie's pockets. I pick up what I thought was a Vectrex, but it was some toy robot with a small CRT display in the neck/head area. I put that down and look for the actual Vectrex. I put down my hoodie & cell phone for some reason. Another table has a bunch of boxed 2600 games, with a plastic sleeve around them(like comic books have). Feels like I hit the jackpot! I go back to my hoodie & pick up my phone. The case for my phone is there, but no phone. Someone replaced my cell phone with cardboard filling from one of the Atari game boxes. And then I woke up(slept only 1 hour). Strange dream. I need a new hobby.
  5. Okay, listening further, one of the hosts on Retro East Podcast is the Wario to Phil. Every 3rd word he's dropping is an f-bomb. He won't be guest hosting on the Atari 7800 Game By Game podcast any time soon. The Trailer Park Boys don't swear this often. Revised grade: D-
  6. Retro East Podcast - Thought the Apple //e was the "online" edition. Lots of cussing, and not very well researched. C- The Legend of Retro Podcast - ever do an unfunny joke and stretch it out for the whole course of an episode? That's what they did with the "old guy" voice. That was the only bad thing about it. C- Retro Junkies Minis - familiar voices and a nice short length make for a great bite-sized episde. A Expect more podcast reviews with the word "retro" in them. Some of them are already discontinued.
  7. Was it around 1982? I'm referring to the packaging & manuals with hand-drawn art for the game manuals. No more white box with a mosaic fake screenshot.
  8. Wasn't there an Amstrad computer that had a console version that did well, badly?
  9. Interesting. Doing a podcast search in MusicBee for the word "retro" has netted me quite a few(to me) podcasts. Also 2 new pinball podcasts popped up. I think we're up to a hundred right now. Still waiting on the Neo Geo game by game podcast.

  11. "Wizards of the Lost Kingdom" looks like a laserdisc game..made into a movie.

I actually like "Space Raiders"; it's very derivative, but it has a lot of low-budget charm. (And yes, it was another of those Corman movies which reused the Horner score.)

haha, you're right! I knew there was a reason I avoid them like the plague and print out my own postage now. Another place where you should only be doing one of two things: picking something up or dropping something off. Yet, people have to turn something so simple into such a debacle. ugh

  13. has anyone gotten a parallel port printer from the 1980s to work on Windows or Linux?

I sometimes use a Panasonic KX-P1124 dot matrix printer on a Windows XP machine with a parallel port. Works great.

  14. If I made a youTube series on Thrift store finds, I would call it "Goodwill Hunting". ha

  15. I think the SMB merchandising & hype in the late 80s seemed to go even further than the Pac Man craze BITD.

As a Pac-Man collectibles collector, I'm tempted to agree!

  16. Since when did "youtube" be a topic be a video game podcasts? It's...not.

  17. Prediction: Pat will be doing a lot of talking, and then after that, do some more talking. And after all the dust has settled, Pat will talk about the talking.
  18. The one time I went there, the change machine was out of order. Of all the machines to go out of order. So I only got to play one game, and that was Bally's Rapid Fire. I can see why that game & Hyperball didn't get more made. CCW's concept is great. I hope they keep on the up & up about pinball, having the machines work properly, not charging too much(EM games should top out at .25) and having as many amusment devices as room allows. Also, they need to serve name brand cola. Their homemade cola is awful.

LOL...Lemme just add - Protip for game commercials: Show as many cut scenes as possible because nobody wants to see gameplay...And have a new version of an old rock song ready to go with cool, emotional female vocals, because with good music, who cares if the game is any good?

Yes, and have a chat window, and a huge video of your face. It's not like I'm trying to watch your video to get past a part I'm stuck on, or to see your take on a mission.

  22. I remember buying one for $150 in '96(loose console). Later sold it to Crazy Climber. That's still cheaper than the 2 Japanese Vectrex units I saw in Japan. CIB: $1700 a piece.
  23. That 2-player networked Vectrex game was nuts. Real cool to play.
  24. Was this the Little Samson that was 6500 or so?
  25. Saturn. That's gotta be it. Maybe my memory was clouded a bit for the fact the SNES had shoulder buttons.
