  1. I have to provide the controls, and have them already. Even the thicker-plastic-base joysticks I bought fit just fine in the recessed hole.
  2. So I splurged and bought this: https://www.microcenter.com/product/611668/micro-center-3-4-size-arcade-cabinet-27---unassembled I wanted to replace my aging Defender cabinet that never was finished, and things were flimsy with it. For $300, I figured what the heck. Barely fit in the car, and was heavy. It's available locally. So far, so good. I haven't put it all together yet, but it is coming along nice. It goes together like anything IKEA ever made. The material is thick, and strong. Better than I would have expected. Some engineering work needs to be done to mount my controller boards, but doesn't look impossible. It even fits in where my old Defender cab was. If it was any higher(the 32 inch monitor model), it would have not fit.
  3. Tempted to get a "psycho" Borderlands facemask. Seems fitting.

Atari should be releasing their own official facemasks. Heck, solid income.

I've been wearing a Jason halloween mask

Given the speed that Atari is operating at, the pandemic will be long over before they have produced any masks.

  4. I'm gonna start my own streaming service of video of me walking around the house, and all seasons of Falcon Crest. And all the Matrix movies.

    1. GoldLeader

      GoldLeader

Sounds good!  Could I be a part of it?  I'll add video of me falling down the stairs, all episodes of Red Dwarf and Breaking Bad, plus movies or series which star anyone who was in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia,  and that 30 seconds or so of Family Guy when Stewie is trying to get Brian to guess the theme song to Dynasty.

  5. Just logged into Peacock, and wow: it's a streaming service consisting of shows I have zero interest watching.

      jaybird3rd

That's been my experience with just about all streaming services.  The few shows/movies I wanted to see, I already had on disc.

same here, what were they thinking? or did they give any thought to it at all?

Also, quite a few of the movies & TV shows are already available on other services(or at least was).

  6. Superman III: A movie entirely made out of boring scenes you fast-forward through.

Same for me @jaybird3rd , I remember that freaking me out a bit.  But then, I was also annoyed by the canned Atari Pac-Man sound effects during the video game looking scene when Superman was being chased by the missiles.

The Vera being turned into a robot freaked me out as well. That shocked look on her face as she's being covered in junk.

Luckily, Black Scarab FilmZ and Fix the Flick are working on how they would fix that.

  7. Watching Ninja 3: The Domination, and the main character has a "Bouncer" arcade cab. Wow that's rare.

  8. Watching Robot Chicken: Was amazed to see a sketch spoofing Micronauts and a Nintendo Game & Watch game.

      I LOVED Micronauts!!!!

  9. I bought a USB floppy drive a short while back. Wouldn't work on any Windows system. So I hooked it up to the linux box. Went through about 30 old 3.5 disks. Only one was able to be read. I couldn't even format it. These disks were nearly 30+ years old, looks like their time has come to toss 'em. My very first box of 5.25 disks were of the BONUS brand. ALL of them failed.
  10. I started taking Zoloft Tuesday, and not a moment too soon!

If your eyes get blurry, invest in eyedrops/artifical tears. That's a common side effect and it sucks.

  11. Places that were closed due to Covid 19 are now closed again due to rioting. Dammit.

I understand why they protest,...But looting and rioting?  Not helpful...(OK I know I'm being way too obvious here...hahaa)

  12. 10 years from now on eBay: Retro Covid 19 "6 feet apart signs!" Relive the covid nostalgia!

Me: Nope. Not interested. We don't need covidage.com. There will be no nostalgia.

      can't wait for Covid-20 and Covid-21 ...

  13. I had an idea for a sitcom that would take place at a user group meeting, but long after the computer is considered obsolete. It would be be some quirky characters, still going to meetings until the end of time. It would be dystopian, but still entertaining. Or maybe it would be a better SNL sketch, not unlike the Mr. Belvedere Fan Club.
  14. TI-99/4A emulation shouldn't be this much of a pain. All the dual-file cartridge dumps I have are useless. Nothing supports them.

    1. jaybird3rd

      jaybird3rd

I believe that the 99/4A emulator in MESS can support them; as I recall, you must attach each individual file as a separate cartridge image.

    2. S1500

      S1500

I am using MESS. It also won't accept .ctg files.

I have no idea what I'm doing.

  15. Trying to stream one tv show has been a bumpy experience.

Just one show in particular?  Or streaming in general?

    2. S1500

      S1500

Snowpiercer; I eventually just streamed it on tnt's website, and it screwed up the last 3 minutes. THe "other ways" I found to watch it resulted in stopping at 10 minutes, or not playing at all.

  16. I'm so glad the "what's on your mind?" text window is back.

Also, this epic games store seems 100% unnecessary.

    1. MrMaddog

EGS is only good for Fortnite and free games.  Personally though I wouldn't support that company with their sleezy business tactics, and this is coming from someone who loved the Unreal Tournament series...

  17. Okay class, let's recite years shall we?   2017,2018,2019,2021,2022. Correct!

      No, in future 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2021 will be written 3BCV (Before Coronavirus), 2BCV, 1BCV and 1ACV(After Coronavirus). Let's practice now. I was born in 43BCV! :o

  18. Dumb design: The PS/2 ports that are the same, but don't work if one's plugged into the other(mouse/keyboard). Because when you're fiddling with things in the back of the PC, there's no way you'd mess it up.

they put signs in Braille everywhere else in this world - I've even saw one at the AUTO DEALERSHIP!!! (think about that one), why not put it on the back of electronic equipment?  don't have to be 'Braille' but at least some geometric shapes we can decipher...

  19. I really don't like subtitles grafted onto videos. It's not necessary. Give us a choice.

If softsubs are an option, I prefer them to hardsubs.  I switched away from burning subs into videos 10 years ago.

  20. I just realized the ending of the stupid Jay Leno movie was similar to the ending of Black Rain. They were both made in the same year, and the stories are about the same.

  21. Remember, no matter how bad covid-19 will get, we must NOT do another corny "We Are the World"-type charity song by a bunch of musicians....and Dan Ackroyd.

it can't be much worse than the 'reunion' of the Goonies cast re-enacting scenes via webcams...that was utterly horrible...

We could do Bon Jovi's Social-Distancing Disease.

      that would be Bad Medicine.

  22. I remember going to user group meetings back in the mid to late 80s, but when did they start fading away? When owning a computer was no longer considered a hobby?
  23. Listening to In the Vertical Blank, with Curt Vendel. 1/3rd of the 'cast is cuss bleeping. Heh.
  24. Okay, here me out. We reboot Noah's Ark, but this time, it's a huge battle carrier with guns and stuff. It will be a biblical Captain Harlock. But he has to battle bad guys to rescue the animals before the big flood.

Noah feels so outdated. Shouldn't it be Coronah's Ark, a cruise ship full of infected animals, two of each?

    4. Magmavision2000

      Magmavision2000

Instead of a water flood, it's a lava flood and the Ark is built out of titanium and the Flex Seal family of products. It's directed by 7 different directors and the editor credits is longer than the Constitution.
