  1. Enjoying the new XEGS episode. Like the fact they also cover general Atari 8-bit games, not just the games released to the XEGS. The Twin Galaxies podcast, with live episodes where the host will answer questions in a chat room, however, is not a good format. Lots of dead air. Chat room people will type a question to him, and he answers it on the air, but has to rehash the question first. It's literally listening to 1 half of a conversation. There's another co-host on the 'cast, but it's not helping. There's great 'cast formats(game-by-game, for example), and then there's this. Just lots of silence. The root topic of rules surrounding Twin Galaxies record scoring + politics around it doesn't prove to be very interesting.
  2. I've got backups of the music 3x over. There's no duplicate files on any system, iTunes just thinks my moved over tunes are new ones, so it thinks also there's 3000 missing tunes. Thankfully, no damage to the 9000+ strong library. If I reformat the iPod, I might lose some star ratings, but should put it back on track. Might just go to the tablet & cell phone for podcast listening. Just now feel spoiled with the track info on my new car.
  3. What's a good bench power supply that's not too expensive? The one I'm borrowing from the 80s, is, well, borrowed(Heathkit) and runs super hot.

I have an Astron RS-12A, got it from a HAM Radio shop for well, HAM Radio stuff. There's higher end models, but, it works well enough for me.

  4. So I ended up upgrading back to the latest version. I see brand new podcasts to listen to in iTunes, but of course it doesn't show up in the iPod. Of course not. Then in the middle of it, I decided it was a nice time to reorganize my folders, and now I have 3000 more tracks than I actually have. It's all messed up.
  5. Did anyone else go out of their way to outfit their settlers with really good armor & weapons? Since I was collecting all this loot from dead gunners/raiders/etc, I might as well give it to good people.
  6. I only took the plunge since I wanted to play Fallout 4. I have some buyers' remorse. Still have my 360, but there seems to be zero games that I can run on the Xbox One. Nothing's listed for backward compatability. Really missing the background music option, especially for time-heavy games like Fallout & Skyrim. While there's a few nice features to it, I'm wondering if I should have bought a PS4. But, this is what I have. Now I'm just waiting for cheap games to show up that I would be interested in. Still funny to get an error dialog on the XB1 that mentions using the Windows key on your keyboard to get past it. Uh, I can't.
  7. I've always been soured by "fight & go right" games, since it seems like no matter what you do, the mechanics of the game are stacked against you. I played in 6-player X-Men with all players being used, and still there were some enemies that would be guaranteed to knock health off of you. Just seemed like I was going through the motions, where superior skill in said game would make zero difference. Not really anything to record for Twin Galaxies. Compare this with Gauntlet, where your health runs down so fast, you won't find enough health power ups to keep perpetually playing. It's a nice coincidence that adding more money gives you a boost of 500 health. heh.
  8. That reminds me, I should try to find a copy of K-Razy Shootout for the 5200. Like I'll ever find that in the wild.
  9. 1. Installed older version of iTunes 2. iTunes wouldn't even start saying my .itl file was a later version 3. renamed the .ITL file so it goes away 4. my copyTrans(back syncs an iPod back to iTunes) expired, so no go on that 5. Had to re-import ALL my music 6. Had to re-subscribe to all my podcasts, but I could do it quickly via gamebygamepodcast.com & clicking on related podcasts in iTunes to re-sub. All of the 'casts we talk about on here seem to be connected in iTunes eyes. So now I have to re-star 1600+ tracks for my 3-5 star collection, but I got my "new fresh podcasts" playlists back. Also, I noticed on my car(just bought a Honda Fit), the entertainment system voice sounds 90% like the robot voice on Inverse ATASCII.
  10. I think there's other software that's hacked into the iTunes XML data & uses it like its own. I wonder if WinAmp has something similar to it, that duplicates all the functionality(scoops up new podcast + sync device). Proof ITunes software is getting worse: I wanted to change the ID tag info on one song(i knew the name), and the confusing interface wouldn't let me do it after I searched for it. Ugh.
  11. That's what always got to me about collecting stuff. 1. Buy item CIB. Don't open it. You have "collected it" 2. don't play with/use it. several years later, sell it 3. GOTO 1 Then the cycle repeats forever for said collectible.
  12. Looks like I have some hope in downloading an older version of iTunes. https://support.apple.com/en_US/downloads/itunes Hopefully that won't shake up the library too much(I can back-sync it if need be) or even touch the library whilst I downgrade.
  13. Well, I'm pretty upset at the un-needed iTunes update. I had a playlist called "new fresh podcasts", where if the play count is zero + podcast genre, it's all unplayed podcasts. I can't find this playlist anymore. It's there in iTunes, but filtered out on the iPod. This sucks.

  16. Podcast Meme alert: any time nurmix's name is mentioned, a certain song made popular on The Muppet Show clip is to be played.
  17. Indeed. And Toronto had a great 80s new wave scene. I'm seeing the Barenaked Ladies(who love pinball), OMD & Howard Jones tonight, in fact.
  18. The RSS feed: htttp://www.themancavecinema.ca/site/feed/podcast I couldn't use the iTunes store link since it said I had to switch stores. Tried that & it froze iTunes. Why iTunes needs a separate Canadian store(for what? Bieber & William Shatner tracks?) is beyond me.
  19. Wouldn't it be funny if this compilation had frequent updates? Essential hotfixes for 30+ year old games...
  20. 2016 cheap hack comedian: "What's the deal with these printers? Why don't we just have 3D printers make more 3D printers?"

    1. CPUWIZ

      CPUWIZ

Some of them do make a lot of parts for more 3D printers.

  21. There's a new podcast! Man Cave Cinema Fist episode is about the Atari 2600 vs Intellivision. Don't have an RSS feed yet. Im playing directly from Google Play.
  22. Now I felt like I should have tried out B&B at Midwest Gaming Classic, just to say I tried it.
  23. The new Top Gear series is just terrible. They took what made the show work away.

      Reaperman

oh it's out now? I may have to find a way to check it out. IIRC, the old 'new' top gear was a bit rough for the first season, as was the usa one.

Nevermind me, I'm out of the loop.

DVR'ing the first new episode right now. Can't say I'm terribly enthusiastic about watching it.

The USA series has gotten better in the last couple of seasons. Sure - it's all fake, but once you accept that *all* TV is fake, it's easier to just watch and enjoy it for what it is.

  24. I binged last night on Far Harbor. The radiation is EVERYWHERE, and leaded armor won't do a darn thing. However, I'm impressed by the amount of content is in the game. There's more people with original names at the beginning spot, more than you expect for NPCs in a typical town. On average, I'm hitting 2-3 hours a night on it, and enjoying it.
