  1. The cruise ship industry might not be much longer.

The industry will never go away. The quarantine experiments and inconveniences will go away. Especially in this fast-paced world. Everybody has forgotten about the 737max crisis and are going about their business just fine.

I'd really like to do some of the music cruises some day (Keeping the Blues Alive, Monsters of Rock, Jam Cruise, Cruise to the Edge, etc).  Hard to justify the cost but it'd be a blast.  Cruises aren't going away any more than airports or travelling to China.

I took an Alaskan cruise with Norwegian about 10 years ago.  It was really a great experience - quite enjoyable!

  2. Considering its history of scrambling cassette data, I would say so.
  3. My RS-97 has been gathering dust for the past year. 99 times out of 100, it simply won't turn on. Fandangling the battery(take it in/out) or trying a USB power connection, it might fire up. It shouldn't be this bad. I've already ordered a different Dingoo-like handheld console that has analog joysticks, with dingux I believe built in. BTW don't try the Amstrad emulator. There's no way to exit it.
  4. Where do I download the latest version of MAME that has the Windows GUI frontend? It's been a while.

I dunno I just use Mame 64 and it seems to come with a GUI...

  5. So that's what it does. I thought it let classes use weapons normally not available to them, such as a wizard using a sword, etc.
  6. One rabbit hole that's not fun to go down: wrangling BIOS files so Retroarch actually starts & doesn't crash on your favorite console.

  7. Hmm, the modern-style manual looks different than the other modern TOD manual cover I saw. The one I saw was in a 2-color threshold(photocopy) and had stairs & stuff in the background. For the one here, looks like the artist who did Hunt the Wumpus made it.
  8. We'll be right back with more stuff!

  9. So I'm at a loss here. For retroarch for Windows, how do I exit a game, and return to the main menu, and NOT exit out of the emulator entirely? Strange.

I always forget that too. On a controller with a bunch of buttons, it's L+R+Start+Select and there's a keyboard trick as well. I usually just whack ESC until it quits then start it again because it's not intuitive or memorable.

  10. After spending Christmas in Tokyo, I was able to spot several Cassette Visions & Super Cassette Visions. I even played one briefly at a store. But, never pulled the trigger. In retrospect, I perhaps should have bought the Junk one for 80 bucks at Hrad-Off. Now I'm looking at EBay, and the prices are quite a bit higher. First off, moreso the Super Casette Vision intrigues me. Better graphics(on par with the Vic 20?), but WOW the prices. We're talking $200-300 on average, and they don't have a cover. Why are so many missing the cover? With paypal money now in my account, I'm tempted to hit "buy it now" even though it won't be cheap, I'll have to do more buying of games(which aren't cheap), and it might just gather dust in my gaming altar after a few minutes of play.
  11. Internet Explorer is the Sears of web browsers. Just stop failing...

  12. I found Bira Bira and SUMGUY. They run a coffee shop in a small town in Iowa now.

  13. I've been to two club events that were Star Wars themed, and they both failed to play Meco's "Empire Strikes Back" disco song. What a missed opportunity.

Hopefully they at the very least played Ewok Celebration.

When I was a kid I remember roller skating to Meco's Theme from Star Wars,  Did they play that at least?...I never knew they did Empire Strikes Back haha...I'll have to look that one up.

  14. It's weird to think the IBM PC standard did have a cassette port. It took a lot of scrounging to find an actual cassette program for one. I think it was left in the BIOS for years, long after it was discontinued.
  15. The ebay prices for Super Cassette Vision consoles & games make you think these things were made out of uranium or something.

Or...Sometimes people put up Ridiculous Buy-It-Nows that don't really reflect current market prices...Always seems to happen when you're actively looking for something, and you still remember a (much Better) price from earlier...

So far, the prices I saw in stores were better than on Ebay, ranging from 80 to 120 bucks. They are over 200+ on ebay so far.

For the system, or for a particular game? I don't quite recognize $200 for a SCV base console.

  16. Crap deals in Tokyo: A 1up Arcade(Pac man) for $600, or a loose 2600 Surround car for $32!

Damn!  (Hopefully there's also some decent deals?)  I'd say buy some Famicom or PC Engine games and call it a day!

  17. I'll be jonesin' for a cigarette, but Wednesday night I'll be in Tokyo. Aww yeah.

You smoke cigarettes? That's so 20th century. All the cool kids smoke crystal meth these days.

  19. I would like LESS artwork on the cabinets.Plastering artwork from 20 different games makes it look cluttered. I like minimal.
  20. I miss the quick dialog for making status updates. Also, I'm enjoying The Outer Worlds.

THE OUTER WORLDS is great. I'm playing it on PC though the latest patch has made my game stuttery as crap (Core i7-6820HK and GTX1070). It was running silk smooth before this past week. Oh well. ? I hope it's not a sign of my save getting corrupted or something - I'm probably 70% of the way through or more and I don't want to start over.

Yes, that and having my response instanly appear...

Plus Outer Worlds is awesome, whenever I get a chance to play it.

The bug where status replies don't appear right away is fixed in the new version of the software (thankfully).  I'll update the forum software early next week.  Don't want to do it over the weekend in case something goes catastrophically awry, as I won't be able to get support on the weekend.

I buy the tubing and filters off ebay for like half what the co-pay is to go through insurance.  Also have bought masks off ebay, too.

  23. The new Tesla Cybertruck looks like some vehicle you would see in a Playstation 1 game. Low poly count.

It looks like something that you'd tow behind the Damnation Alley Landmaster, if you were going cross-country on a post-apocalyptic vacation, and needed a smaller vehicle to go around town looting for supplies while leaving the Landmaster parked at the RV park.
