My 2600 is currently in the middle of my living room floor. I've been playing homebrews all week.

Article comparing the Wii shovelware to the 2600 crash of 1983
Mindcircus replied to ComputerSpaceFan's topic in Atari 2600
Agreed. Worse yet, all you see on the PC gaming shelves these days are sequels. -
Atari? No. Everquest? No comment!

PONG slot machines in Vegas
Mindcircus replied to MrRetroGamer's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Yeah I read about these back in August when they were still waiting for approval from the gaming commission (apparently, they're the first skill-based slot machines ever). I'll be there this summer, can't wait to check them out! -
Has the Atari 2600 dropped to 4th most collectible system?
Mindcircus replied to homerwannabee's topic in Atari 2600
It has to do with who has the disposable income. Kids that grew up playing NES and SNES most likely have their college degrees and have good jobs now, but many are single with no kids. The Atari age is in their 30s+ and have more financial responsibilites. Look at the value of boys' toys and games from the '80s. It's crazy, that stuff is worth more than toys 40 years older. It's all about who's buying it. (as a 30 year-old male, I'm a tweener... and buy everything ) -
Got Your Holiday Order? Your Thoughts On Your Games

Oh you all tease me! Mine's in the mail. Cooommmee quicklyyyyyy! -
I love Surround as a two-player game, but I have to admit that Intellivision's SNAFU is far superior.

Flashback city! I had a silver NASA jacket just like that in the 2nd grade. And YES, I would wear one of those Atari jackets today.

Does anyone use this Sniping service?
Mindcircus replied to SpendTooMuchOnAtari's topic in Auction Central
Ya, that is an ingenius theory. Rock solid. It's true. Can't argue with the results I get. Maybe you just don't know how to ebay. -
I have to admit, I haven't even looked at atari ebay listings this summer. It's just too nice outside, and I've had a few vacations which required saving for (including Vegas). I assume alot of folks are the same way, and I'll echo the belief that it'll pick up once again. However, I'll also echo the belief that retro gaming's new king is definitely NES. It's a generational thing. Kids that grew up playing Atari have families to provide for now, whereas kids that grew up playing NES are barely out of college and have all sorts of money to blow.

There are 3rd party sniping programs?!? Hmm, never knew that. I win every auction I really want to win. I guess this means they don't work. Go figure! -
Snafu is worth the price of an Inty alone!

Classic Gaming = I was hip before it was hip!
Mindcircus replied to superjudge3's topic in Classic Console Discussion
For my 19th birthday (10 years ago), all I asked my parents for was an Atari and some games. People thought I was odd (sorry... just nostalgic) and it was extremely easy to find what I was looking for in the flea markets. It was still just old junk then. Even a few years later I had to search high and low for an Atari t-shirt, those really didn't become popular until that kid wore one in Road Trip. Now I have a lot of 'cool stuff,' as my friends call my Atari collection. -
Are there other collectors in your area?
Mindcircus replied to lance_miller's topic in Classic Console Discussion
In just 14 replies, I'm already Detroiter #3! You see what we all have to put up with??? And actually, as dry as the flea markets may be... thrift stores are even a bigger waste of time. It's been YEARS since I've found anything remotely interesting in one of them. I don't look anymore either, it's all about Ebay! -
What is your favorite game, then and now?
Mindcircus replied to accousticguitar's topic in Atari 2600
Then: Pitfall! by myself, and with my dad it was Missile Command and Warlords Now: Ms. Pac-Man -
I'm shattered! I was sooooo looking forward to this game.

10-0 Surround is amusing staggering drunk, though!
-
I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did. The thing had over 100 views and still for sale last I saw.
-
Finally, a score I'm not ashamed of.
-
This had been on my watch list all along and I was just about to put a bid on it when it jumped to about $90 with 26 seconds left. Already too rich for my blood, so I passed. Crazy I tell ya. Someone wanted it badly lol.

After dealing with customers at CompUSA for 7 years, and after selling about 40 items on ebay this year... I really don't have much hope for humanity.
-
Shame on you! Basically, this is the game I grew up with. I remember my dad coming home from work everyday and unwinding with a lil' Missile Command. And I'm not nearly as good, he was the master (might still be lol). As far as missing commons go... it happens. How I found a Mr. Do's Castle and a Waterworld in the wild before Slot Machine, I'll never know.
-
Really sharp!
-
Sky Diver was one of my favorites as a kid, no doubt due to the splattering. Nice finds there! I actually snagged a Mr. Do's Castle last night for $2.00, which was really my first rare game found in the wild in years.
