I really like this theme can't wait for it to come to fruition. -Legend

Any Progress? -Legend

can the joystick and paddle be combined? Kinda like the ms. pac man plug $ play where the joystick was turned to control pole position, but used as a regular joystick for the other games.

Awesome. Glad to hear. I know the theme is only superficial, but it's my favorite part. You don't see many fantasy themed shooters. Not that I know of anyways. Can't wait. -Legend

Is there going to be a rom/bin release so it can be played offline?

Any progress on this one lately? I'd really love to see it developed more. I love the theme. -Legend

Any improved versions of Donkey ever made?
Legend replied to ComputerSpaceFan's topic in Atari 2600 Hacks
I've seen one with graphic replacements that make it look like a night jumping over fireballs from a dragon. It's pretty cool. I just wish that the hammer would have been replaced with a sword, mace, or axe. SOmething a little more fitting than the original hammer would have fit the new theme a little better. I think it's called dragon knight. I forget where I found it originally. It's pretty cool though. -Legend -
Any new progress on this one? I hope so, it looks cool. I'd love to see an adventure/ fantasy themed shooter. -Legend

The Minotaur game mentioned as one of your favorites in the article above the games doesn't seem to be in the list of games. Where is it? What's it like? Do you have a zip files with all the games? -Legend

Played the new version a couple times tonight. still a good game, but it is pretty easy. I noticed that when the bats got down close to the player, they couldn't be shot. I don't know if it's a bug or meant to be that way. More challenging play would be cool. The bat death sequence could be spruced up a bit too to look cooler. Just a few thoughts. Keep up the good work. -Legend

Cool game. I think I found a bug though. It seems that when the ball goes off the screen, the player who's side it was on gets a point instead of the player who shot the ball. It doesn't make sense to me. Maybe it should either bounce back off the side of the screen or the player who made the shot should get the point. Having the ball bounce off the side might make for some interesting gameplay. -Legend

Ever think about supporting paddle control. The game is great. It seems like it would be a cool as a paddle game. Every time I kinda wish I was playing with a paddle. Something about it just gives off that vibe to me. Anyways, just putting it out there. Again, Great game. -Legend

I think the game is looking good. I like the idea. What other enemies do you plan on putting in the game? I would kinda like to see another game screen like a vertical scrolling shooter. Maybe as a bonus level or every couple of levels. I like the adventure themed shooter idea and I think a vertical scrolling level would be cool to go with the one you already have. I haven't tried the latest bin yet but will surely leave some feedback when I do. I like the previous bins I tried so far. -Legend

Do we need an Atari plug & play arcade TV game?
Legend replied to Math You's topic in Dedicated Systems
I'd love to see another paddle plug and play unit. Tempest would be great with the paddle. Or maybe even put warlords on again and include an option to hook up two two-player versions so you could play arcade warlords with 4 players. -Legend -
Will there be a bin/rom released for the new version? I'd love to try the new version. I like the old one I got from another post. I don't have real hardware or the money to get a real 2600 and games anytime too soon. Would love to see a rom/bin to try it out on stella. Later. -Legend

New Activision and Intellivision plug+play units coming
Legend replied to Flojomojo's topic in Dedicated Systems
I got the Activision one on a whim before I read this. It is indeed pretty bad. It cost about $10. The games are pretty bad ports. It's much like the FB1. Atari games ported to an nes. You can especially tell by the sound. Does not sound like atari sound fx at all. The control is pretty crap. Of course Kaboom is the worst with very bad sound and no paddle control. The controller is pretty akward to hold. Pretty much all the games are bad. From reading this I guess I don't really have to warn anyone to stay away from this one. -Legend -
Can anyone help point me in the right direction with this? I figure I'll try using Batari Basic to program the game. I actually tried making a qbasic version of the game a long time ago, but can't find the disk that it was on and can barely remember how I made the random dungeons. It's been years since I tried programing and didn't get very far. I need to figure out how to populate a random 6x6 grid. I want to add random walls between rooms, not take up a whole room. Make a turn based combat system. Check to see if an enemy, hazard, or item is in the room. Make the bats place the player in a random room when encountered. Check to see what items the player has. How to keep track of life. Scoring system. Player control. Combat system. Combat will some variation of one of the three different types of combat in the board game. (See the download link on the first post.) I may change the name of the game. If anyone would like to help with graphics, it would be appreciated. I need a little advice and a point in the right direction to get started. I'd still like to try and make this game whether there is much interest in it or not from the community. Thanks to anyone who helps. Please check the link on the first post for the full version of the board game that I made that I'm basing this 2600 game on. Thanks again. -Legend

Has anyone here dumped the fb2 games to roms or bins yet? Like Adventure II, Haunted House II, and Yars return? Could someone pm me if they have? I own an FB2 but would like to play them on my laptop on an emulator as well. Thanks. -Legend

Is this still being worked on? I'd like to see it continued. Gotta change the title screen to say Doom 2600. It still says Dark Chambers. I like the idea. Please keep working on it to make it a full blown hack like Haunted Adventure or Wolfenstein 2600. -Legend

This is looking really cool. I love Telengard and DND. Two of my favorites. Do you plan on making it real time like Telengard was? So the player can't take too long thinking about what to do next? I noticed that the monsters don't seem to be doing much damage. Keep up the work. -Legend

Although it's not here on AA the ROM for Merlin's Walls (Standard Edition) is available, i have it in my ROMs folder but i can't remember where i downloaded it.I just wonder if this "standard edition"-ROM is different from the Cartridge-Version? It's a shame that the other Ebivision-ROMs are not available, i might buy Power Off! some day but I'd prefer to test it before i buy it.... Nothing seems to be labeled. Which one is it? -Legend

I actually named the game Damnit Dungeons because I spent a long time trying to come up with a good name for it that didn't sound too cliche for the usual dungeon crawl type of game. After much failure, I decided to call the game Damnit Dungeons because of my frustration with trying to come up with a good name for it. Under my game notes and to do list, I wrote " Give it a name DAMNIT!!!". I originally called it that only as a place holder until I though of a better name. After a while it kinda grew on me so I stuck with it. I kinda like the light hearted and slightly comical feel it has. The game isn't a serious dungeon crawl game bogged down in stats and tons of cards and characters and such. It's a rather simple game that has a lite dungeon crawl theme to it. Has anyone downloaded the game and looked at it yet? -Legend

I'm not a programmer but I do make card and board games. I made a game called Damnit Dungeons that I think would be great as 2600 game. The board game version plays similar to battle ship, but I made a solo expansion for it that is more like a random dungeon romp like rogue. I'm thinking the single player version would be best for a 2600 version. Here are some points of the game. The object of the game is to go through a random maze, find the treasure, then find the exit and get out alive. In order to find the exit, the player must find the treasure first. There are goblins, bats, a dragon, a thief, and pits in the maze. The player starts with nothing. In order to fight the goblins, the player needs to find a sword first. In order to fight the dragon which is tougher, the player needs to find a sword AND a shield first. The bats pick up the player and places them in a random room of the dungeon. (ala hunt the wumpus) The player must find the rope in order to get past the pit traps. (again, ala hunt the wumpus) If the player encounters the thief, he will steal your items. When a player encounters a goblin, pit, or dragon, and does not have the required item, the player takes damage and must return to the starting room. The dungeon is a 6x6 grid that wraps around. If the player goes all the way to the right, they re appear on the left side. There is also a scoring system. The idea is to get the lowest score possible. Like golf. The player gets bonus points subtracted from the final score for doing certain things like not using the healing potion, or killing the dragon, or killing all of the goblins. Here is a link to download the original board game. It also has the solo rules. It is a print and play game. All you need is to print out two sheets and the rules to play. There are other things like combat explained in the rules. There are two types of combat. The original and and alternate combat. I'm not sure which one would work better for a 2600 game. Please check it out and let me know what you think of the game and if you think it could make a cool atari 2600 game. Please let me know if anyone might be interested in programming it. Thanks.
