  1. What about less featured games? Like Batman Batman: Return of the Joker Kick Master Holy Diver To name a few that are fun, challenging, and not mentioned or played all that often.
  2. Last version is very cool. I miss the really nice animations from earlier versions though.
  3. Legend

    Star Castle RC1

ok. That did it. Thanks. Really nice work on the game Cd-W. Star Castle was always one of my favorites. Any chance for a Fortress of Narzod port?
  4. Legend

    Star Castle RC1

I just tried this with the latest version of Stella. It plays fine, but the graphics are very flickery to the point of being blurry and the text hard to read. Am I missing a specific setting or something I need to set?
  5. I remember playing Phantasie 1 and 3. Never beat either though. I also remember Oubliette. Reminded me a lot of Wizardry only even harder.
  6. Just kidding. Actually, it was Sword of Vermillion for Sega Genesis.
  7. maybe pinball physics would work?
  8. Not nearly enough in my opinion.
  9. I thought it was funny how everyone was japanese, it was a famicom cartridge, box, and system, but they kept refering to it as for the nes.
  10. I believe the rom is floating around out there somewhere. My understanding is that the game came pre-installed on the wii hard drive but was played as though it were a vc download.
  11. What about the Nintendo 25th anniversary edition version that came with the special edition Red Wii that came out the other year? It was the nes version of Donkey Kong, but with the pie factory level added back in.
  12. Looks like E.T. has a Tinky "winky". Very cool. Thanks for the effort. Would be cool if all the clues/answers were Atari/vcs related. I know it can be quite hard to make puzzles though so I can see how making every single one atari/vcs related could be pretty difficult. I would definitely purchase a crossword book that was full of all crosswords like this. Some Nes themed ones could be cool too.
  13. I thought Crypts of Chaos was pretty interesting and ambitious fir it's time. Pretty fun too. If only the ad&d games made it over to the 2600 or the protos were released. Those looked cool. I find Venture and it's hacks very fun too. Would Superman count as an adventure game? It plays kinda like a side scrolling Adventure, I believe it was the basis of Haunted Adventure III as well.
  14. Crusader of Centy is really not a shameless rip off of ALTTP. It has a similar art style and semi similar mechanics, But it has a whole other depth of game play that ALTTP doesn't have. It's definitely worth checking out. Is there anything else you can say about mystery game #4? Was the skeleten the main player character or an enemy? What did the background look like? Was it side scrolling?
  15. You couldn't handle that stuff on strong acid maaan.
  16. Couple I forgot. Super Star Force is interesting. Kinda like a shmup with time travel and zelda elements. Not like Guardian Legend though. Gekitotsu Yonku Battle is a very fun game similar to Rally x in some ways.
  17. Wow! I didn't even realize how old this was and that it was a bump when I saw it. p.s. Mighty Final Fight is another one that rocks!
  18. Holy Diver is definitely fun. Chronicles of Radia War/Tower of Radia is a great action rpg. Fire Emblem is really cool. Especially if you like Famicom Wars. Gettsu Fuuma Den is a great action adventure game. Sugoro quest is a pretty fun quirky rpg/board game Definitely Sweet Home for survival horror rpg. Valkyrie's Adventure is pretty fun. Wings of Madoola is a good one I hardly ever hear anyone mention. Tough though. Motocross Champion is like an upgraded Excite Bike. Just Breed is an interesting strategy rpg. Joy Mech figh is actually a good fighter on nes. Ike Ike! Nekketsu Hockey Bu is just plain awesome! Both Konami Wai Wai orld games are cool and let you play as several konami characters. Higemaru Makaijima is like Zelda, but more arcade-like and just as fun. Like Zelda meets Popeye. Don Doko Don 2 is a fun playformer. Kid Dracula is good but tough and the quiz part is lame though. Quarth is an interesting puzzle/shooter game. Grand Master is worth playing although you might pull your hair out at times. Shufflepuck Cafe. Plasma ball is kinda interesting. I definitely second the Japanese port of Rampart Those are my favorites anyways. They all either have translations available or can be played without one. For FDS: Druid Lutter Knight Move Super Lode Runner II Fire Bam Vs. Excite Bike Otocky Famicom Grand Prix
  19. Maneged to find a few good ones. Tekkyu Fight! Great Battle Gaiden and After Burst are the best ones I found so far. The first is a platformer where you switch between a gundam robot, ultraman and masked rider. The second is a pretty fun puzzle/shooter hybrid that is strangely addicting.
  20. I was looking for some recommendations for some good/interesting Gameboy and/or Gameboy Color games that were only released in Japan but are easily playable without translation or have some sort of guide available on the internet to help someone play who doesn't read Japanese. I've tried a couple like Dokapon Millenium Quest which is pretty cool, but heavy on text and hard to fully understand. Dungeon Land was another that was interesting and fairly easy to play without translation but still has quite a few menus that I can't figure out. Thanks for any good recommendations.
  21. Wow. That is an interesting example. There is only one I can't figure out. Fry, bender, leela, zoidberg, ?, hermies, proffessor, zap, and kiff? Edit** wait, is that scruffy on the bottom left?
  22. Cool. Glad you found it. I'll check it out and give it a try myself. Unfortunately it looks like the site is down all of a sudden.
  23. I still need the name of the game, though. I know you need the name, but your description isn't a whole lot to work with unfortunately. It more or less sounds like quite a few nes rpg's. Japan got more rpg's than the states anyway. If you search the database, you can filter by system (nes/famicom) and genre (rpg). At that point you can look at the result list and hopefully see something that looks familiar or you're just going to have to open the page for each result and read the game description and look at the screenshots. Good luck. Was it a traditional rpg or like an action rpg? Any memorable characters or distinctive mechanics in the game that might make it easier to identify? Maybe an idea of what the title screen looked like? Any specific colors or a specific image like a sword, dragon, armor, beast, etc. Top down, isometric, or side view? Remember what the main character looked like? Did you have a party of characters or just a single character? Here's a link to the translation database http://www.romhackin...t/translations/
