  1. Just curious, why the driving controller instead of the paddle controller? I haven't had a chance to check out the new version yet, so I don't know if it's for gameplay reasons or not, but judging from the last version of Bifrost I played, I think a paddle would work fine. I also think more people would be likely to have a set of paddles than the driving controller. I think so anyways. I know I on;y have paddles and no driving controller. A paddle version would be nice.
  2. Just beat soul reaver. Looking to tackle Undying as soon as I can figure out what I did with the disk.
  3. I know the Haunted Adventure Trilogy Rom still hasn't been released. The first two are available in the forums, but not the whole thing. I'm really looking forward to whenever The final version of the trilogy gets dumped. I want to try part 3.
  4. Right on. Hope you can find one and your dad enjoys it if you decide to get it. I really enjoy it and always take it on trips and play it when I'm waiting to play a show.
  5. I highly recommend Radica ultimate pinball handheld. I've never seen it in stores, but I got mine in on ebay. http://www.radicagames.com/pinball.php It has 3 tables and a tilt feature that you use by tapping the side. It also has a plunger, good sound, lights, and fluid graphics despite being lcd. The only real disadvantage is not being able to play in the dark.
  6. I also recomend JoyToKey. It works great and is free. I I haven't tried x mapper only because it's not free.
  7. The who, Thin Lizzy, Alice Cooper, W.A.S.P., GN'R, BLS
  8. the gravity walk thing is a little hard getting used to. Especially trying to go up and down when I want. The collecting money to pay the gods is kinda a pain. The ckeeky monkeys, spear chucking ewoks, and bats are a pain in the butt. I managed to find the first heart. Took a minute to find the hidden door. The little enemies are a pain, but the bosses all seem pretty easy except the medusa thing. Kinda jacked up that the gods charge for their help. What do they need olives for? lol. Wish they had at least a way to earn more than one at a time.
  9. I try not to use guides as much as possible unless I'm ridiculously stuck. I play a LOT of adventure type games. Lots of interactive fiction too. I'm used to those types of puzzles so I always try everything in a room. Mostly pc. I have played the windows version of shadowgate years ago. Didn't get all the way through though. I remembered a couple things from back then, so that helped. Plus constant saving. I did die quite a few times. I also played it continuously straight for the 2 1/2 hours (give or take)
  10. Started playing battle of olympus. Really fun game, but hard as hell. Not so much the puzzles, but the enemies are just ridiculously hard and respawn way too fast. So far, I've gotten the staff (with fire), the shield, the harp, sword, and hermes boots. I'm trying to avoid walkthroughs and staying good so far. I'm switching it up between battle of olympus and golden ax warrior for sega master system. It's really fun even though it is extremely similar to zelda. It still has its own flavor and differences/improvements.
  11. Just finished Shadowgate for nes. Only took about 2 1/2 hours. Pretty fun, but way too short adventure game.
  12. Arcus Odyssey last night. Took 3 nights and I used the character with the chain weapon.
  13. I looked at Battle for Olympus and Faxanadu. Both seem cool, but man are those enemies annoying. I also found this game for pc called Dracula's Shadow. It's like a revamped version of Simon's Quest. http://horrorquest.altervista.org/ Also found an interesting game for the famicom called getsufuu maden by konami. It seems really cool too. You have to find a translation patch on romhacking.net and a faq to figure out what you're doing though. I also remember one action rpg game I loved when I was younger was Popful Mail for Sega CD. I highly recommend it to anyone who has a sega cd.
  14. wow. That looks awesome. I love Knightmare and I'd love to try it on 2600. Anyone know if there is somewhere to find the rom? It looks a little easy though. The enemies should move a little faster I think. I think Knightmare would also be awesome as an nes game.
  15. I posed this question in another thread already, but it was kinda off topic and I didn't want to throw off the main topic of the thread so I'm posting it here. I recently finished Zelda II: Adventure of Link and Castlevania II: Simon's Quest. I love both those games and really enjoy the hybrid style of action/adventure/rpg feel they have. I was wondering if anyone out there has any suggestions for other similar type games that I could check out. The main systems I play are 2600, NES, Sega Genesis/Sega CD, SNES, PC, Sega Master System, Game Gear, and Gameboy/color/advance. Thanks.
  16. I was looking at that one. It looks interesting. Any others? The only systems I play regularly are 2600, nes, gameboy/advance, snes, and genesis/segacd.
  17. Sounds cool. I like Duck attack, but it would still be cool to see the fire, shield, and torch added in Adventure. Think that will ever surface?
  18. Zelda II Links Adventure Legend of Zelda Bubble Bobble (2 players) Contra (2 players with Konami code) Link's Awakening Bionic Commando New Super Mario Bros. Wii (2 players and collected all coins) Just finished Castlevania II: Simon's Quest. Can anyone suggest another game similar to Zelda II or Simon's Quest?
  19. Here's a few links for GemVenture http://tinycartridge...zle-quest-clone http://www.offworld....zzle-quest.html http://www.pdroms.de/files/2172/
  20. www.romhacking.net is a great resource for hacks and translations. It is frequently updated as well. Also try Zophars domain and eaon genesis. If you are looking for a good homebrew, I highly recommend Gemventure. The author is still planning an updated version in the future and it is currently very playable.
  21. Anyone else try this nes homebrew or know if it's still being worked on? It's a great and addicting game. I think it could even ported to 2600. http://tinycartridge.com/post/120722738/gemventure-nes-puzzle-quest-clone http://www.offworld.com/2009/06/gemventure-8-bit-puzzle-quest.html http://www.pdroms.de/files/2172/
  22. Golden Axe Warrior is similar to zelda, but not exactly a clone. There are some substantial differences and Golden Axe Warrior is a good bit harder too.
  23. I checked out a video of the ds version. It looks like it still has the same physics problems as the original and the ball is still going through the paddle at times. Although it looks cool that you can angle the paddle diagonally now.
