  1. Hey Tom. It will work pretty much the same way either way. If you try to play a NTSC on a PAL system and TV, it will cause it roll and have a "wierd" color scheme just as if you tried to play a PAL on a NTSC system and TV. If their PAL tv has a vertical hold, fine tuning that should take care of the rolling problem, but still facing the "wierd" coloring. I don't think anything can be done for this, but maybe someone else here would know that.

  2. I believe that this post is in the right forum. Marketplace is for keeping transactions "personal" or between people on the boards without listing them on eBay. I have quite a few there and responded to a few myself. The eBay forum is for listing all things relating to eBay, including personal auctions, warning board members about fraudulant activity on eBay, and just mentioning other auctions. Even the McDonalds proto thread is on this board. If I had auctions on eBay, I would list them here, not in the marketplace.

This is just the way I intrepret the boards. Not trying to make any wars here, but just giving my point of view.

  3. >LOOK

You are standing in a vast hall. At the end of the hall you can see a heavily barred wooden door with a small panel in it. About five feet before the door, on either side of the hallway, are two identical stone statues. Each statue is holding a Crossbow cartridge and poised as if ready to strike. You can see a dusty, but readable, sign on one wall.

    >READ SIGN

Welcome Adventurer. Before you stands the mighty Guardians of Atari; Al 1 and Al 2. Beyond the statues lies untold wealth beyond your mightiest imagination. But be forwarned of the mighty gaze of the Al's.

    >OPEN PANEL

As you reach to open the panel, the Al's raise the carts and aim them in your direction. Their fingers about ready to push a before unnoticed button on the carts.

    >DIVE TOWARD DOOR

As you dive out of the crossfire of the Al's, they push their buttons and the carts spring open. Out of the carts come a barrage of tiny arrows just missing your head. Safely past the Guardians, you now stand in front of the door. On the door is a small sign.

    >READ SIGN

The sign clearly states "Welcome Footpad"

    >OPEN PANEL

As you open the panel, the mighty door creakily slides open. You are momentairly blinded by the flash of light.

    >ENTER DOOR

You pass through the door. Upon examining the room, you discover piles upon piles of extremely rare carts. You decide to take a closer look at the carts. You jump back, horrified, that all the carts are pirated Pac-Man carts with Waterworld, Quadrun, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Crazy Climber labels carelessly glued on top. As you notice this, the might door slams shut behind you and just before all goes black, you can barely make out a sinister laugh.

Congratulations, you have scored a -1 out of a possible 100 in 1,998,876,489,001 moves. This gives you the rank of Atari Landfill.

Will you (u)ndo last move, ®estore, or (q)uit?

  4. I have the following Colecovision games that I would like to trade for Atari 2600 games. If you want any of these let me know by either posting here or e-mailing me. I've had previous transactions on here and would rather trade here than list them on eBay. :)

    Here are the carts:

    1) Venture

    2) Subroc

    3) Donkey Kong

    4) Donkey Kong Jr.

    5) Cosmic Avenger

    6) Mr. Do!

  5. Mine would have to be Pitfall 2. Even though I completed the game numerous times, I never seem to mind re-playing it. The only problem: I don't own the cart, I can only play it on an emulator. I'm still trying to get the actual cart, but alas, to no avail.

  6. I think releasing the binary is a good idea. I'm not sure if it's possible, or legal, for someone to complete the game or not; but if the new buyer has no programing ability at all, maybe someone who has the ability can freely get the code and finish it. I don't think that making something that is normally unattainable attainable could in any way depreciate the "value" of the original proto. I would love to own a proto, but alas, I can't afford to. At least, if the binary is released, or finished, I'll be able to play a game that I could only dream of playing. Imagine taking all the one-of-a-kind paintings in the world and hoarding them in a safe so no-one, except the owner, could look at them. What if you wanted to look at one, but the owner states that you need to buy it but not let anyone else ever look at it. I'm not sure if I'm making any sense or not, but I believe that games like this one shouldn't only be available to the "filthy rich", but available to everyone that would like to enjoy it.

    Just my opinion.

  7. I never heard anything about any copper wire. But, generally the problems are:

    1) the game is dirty; use rubbing alcohol to clean it.

    2) the 72-pin connector is dirty; open the NES and clean it. (look at link)

    3) the 72-pin connector is bent; you can try to rebend the connectors, but I never tried this. I just replaced the connector. (look at link)

Generally, it's one of the 3 above. If not, maybe someone else would know.

Here is the site you can use:

  8. Well, I actually e-mailed this "character" too, and I asked him the following:

"Forgive me for asking, but I was wondering why you were asking a buy it now price of $100 for a common cartridge? I'm just curious."

And then I get a response as follows:

"just to make you ask me that question hahaha"

So we have a real comedian here who is trying to b/s and swindle someone and gives everyone a different answer if asked almost the same question. Obviously this bidder can do better (even in the wild), and I almost can't sit by and watch this happen, but I wonder what can be done? Seeing this done to someone really blows my top. :x

  9. I wonder if I should e-mail the seller and ask if he would post an auction for my extra copy I got from Salvation Army for $0.89???? Well, I have 2 copies, room34 has 1, and Lemmi has 1; that only leaves 44 copies left in circulation!
