The lock-out chip??? I never thought of that. But if it was that, wouldn't the game not work at all? I again tried other games and they work without a hitch. I tried cleaning this board, yet again, with alcohol, eraser, etc, everything short of acid, and it still has the same problem. I'm starting to think if one of the chips is going bad.

The contacts are cleaner than the pic looks. They're actually more of a gold color than silver as shown. But, I tried the eraser method too and till no luck.

Ok, I got the case open and here's a pic of the board. I'm not sure if it's eproms or roms as I'm not really sure of the difference, but you can also see that the contacts are very clean. Hopefully this pic will help me get an answer.

I tried to open it (it has standard screws) but there must be a fifth screw under the label and I'm not sure how to get to it without destroying the label. I tried a hairdryer, but that didn't work.

Ok, here's the deal and it's stumping me. All my games work fine on my toaster after cleaning and re-aligning the pins on the connector. Except, my Spiritual Warfare keeps giving me trouble. The screen flashes the standard 6 or 7 times until the game really starts (which I understand is common for Wisdom Tree and it also states this on the cart). But when it does start, the power light is dim (but stays bright for all other games) and then after about 5-10 minutes of playing, the power light goes out and the game stops. I know it's not the power supply or the deck as every other game works fine, just this particular game. I cleaned the contacts and they are very shiny and everything I clean it with comes out clean, so I know it's not dirty. Could it be inside the cart itself, or something else that I'm missing? Any help is appreciated.

Ok, let's not start another console war. I still wonder if SK will still be making the sequel to Eternal Darkness, for I actually liked, no enjoyed, playing the original. And I wouldn't exactly call this game a "children's title" by no means. I haven't played the Metal Gear game, but I have an idea of what it's about. Again I'm not trying to start or promote a console war, I'm just showing the point of view that rarely gets used anymore, not that of only a gamer, but also a parent.

Wow. I just read this thread for the first time. Because of all this, my account was accidently banned because I use PTD (or Prolog Tele Data) for my ISP. Al was kind enough to re-establish my account after going the whole weekend without being able to log on. And what scares me the most, is that this could be right around the corner from me. I'm not far from Wilkes-Barre myself. Hopefully this comes to an end without anymore people getting threatened or hurt.

That's right. You get a "main screen" and then when you press a key, you get a programs menu to choose from.

I have the following SMS games for trade. Let me know what game you have. I'm currently collecting TI 99/4A, NES, SNES, N64, and Gamecube. You'll see pics attached and if interested, shoot me a pm or post here. I'd offer these for sale, but I don't take paypal, so if you want to buy them, we can work something out, just let me know. I'm pretty easy to work with. Thanks Bomber Raid - Activision version, loose Hang On/Safari Hunt - cased with instructions Pro Wrestling - cased with instructions Thunder Blade - cased with instructions Reggie Jackson Baseball - cased no instructions but has poster After Burner - cased with instructions

And don't forget that most things don't work with model 3; like the cd unit, the 32X, and I think a few games as well, but not entirely sure on the games. I remember these selling for $19.99 at Walmart awhile ago. I passed when I found out that you can't expand the system.

Good game. Some were pretty hard, but I eventually got em all.

Eternal Darkness - Vanquished
lonesome_pa replied to lonesome_pa's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Yes, I did. I played the game with the green artifact and actually acquired all the spells, a level 3, 5, and 7 power, and a green, red, blue, and purple rune. -
Some Super Nintendo games for trade
lonesome_pa replied to JerseyDevil's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Some games didn't come with a label. Apparently what I heard is that they are overruns and labels were never attached. I've seen a Scooby Doo one like that. -
After about a month of losing my sanity, hearing all the things going bump in the night, and the Horrors, oh the Horrors, I have finally FINISHED Eternal Darkness Sanity's Requim in 14 hours, 19 minutes, and 23 seconds. Saying this game is creepy is putting it mildly. I would recommend this game to anyone. It's like no other and probably will never be. I might go back and pick another artifact to try another path, but I'm just happy to finish it.

I'm looking here to see if anyone has an extra they can part with. I would prefer an official one, but will resort to using a multi-one if need be. Let me know if you do and I'm sure we can work something out.

Well, taking my weekly trek to the 2 local Salvs and the local "antiques store", as the owner would like to call it, I came across these finds: NES games: Cybernoid Double Dare Rock 'n Ball Spiritual Warfare and 2 semi-working NES decks with attachments. Semi-working meaning they both need a 72 pin connector (can't be easily repaired as a few pins are actually missing) and on one deck, it needs a new tray. I might be able to superglue it as it is cracked from front to back but not completly apart. Mostle likely, I'll just replace it as there will always be a weak spot and it will probably break again just from normal use. But all this for the heafty price of $5.00; I couldn't pass it up even thought I need a few parts.

That's why I would like to try the mod. I have been looking here and here to do this mod. It does look easy, but I just wasn't sure if it really works and if so, it can't be that hard to do, right?
-
I thought of doing that, the Replay will override the lock-out chip (where a Game Genie will not) but everytime and everywhere I look it's big bucks. This mod looks fairly simple to do and is almost dirt cheap.
-
Anybody try to mod their SNES to switch between the 60hz/50hz so imported PAL games can play at normal speed on an NTSC system? I "modified" mine so far to accept Japanese imports and play them, but I want to try to do this mod but was wondering if anybody had any suggestions or experience from doing/trying it.
-
DOH! So those systems I threw out WERE working afterall???? I could have sold them there.
-
I only owned and played one game: Zaxxon. Unfortunatly, I don't have it anymore and never had the chance to play any of the others.
-
I've notice that this does happen, not only on NES carts, but any carts with gold connectors. It's almost as if the eraser is too abrasive and scratches off the connectors. But yet, I haven't seen alcohol take the coating off.

Anybody play Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem?
lonesome_pa replied to lonesome_pa's topic in Modern Console Discussion
This game is the shiznit! I have been playing it for almost a week straight and have a hard time putting it down. It's very creepy when you're playing in the dark and you lose your sanity. The screen goes crazy, the volume goes up and down, you get error messages about your memory card, etc. I'm about half way through and I'm already wishing they are making a sequel. -
Wanted: Gamecube, and/or Mario Kart, and Need for speed
lonesome_pa replied to IceCold's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
I agree 100%. I wouldn't give mine up for anything. I love the games too much Good luck on your search though.... -
I thought he just meant the cord itself, not the switchbox. I should have been a little clearer on that.
