  1. A system like that with all hookups, plus one more controller, PLUS about 10-12 games brings in about $20-$25. I don't think you'll get any bites with that price. Sorry, but just being honest with ya.
  2. The cord isn't really "permanant". If you open the system of the original 2600, you'll see that it connects to the main board using a shortend pin RCA. I believe that the JR's are the same way, but don't recall. I was able to replace quite a few of those cords over the years.
  3. First, is there a link to the auction? Also depends if the auction listed a shipping price specifically or if it states that "buyer pays for all shipping". If it's stated specifically, I'm sorry to say, but tough luck. By bidding on it, you agreed to the terms. And as was stated above, if it's Priority it would cost more, but I can't see it costing that much. If you have the sellers zip code, plug the info into www.usps.com postage calculator and see what you get. My best suggestion, which might not be the best answer, is to haggle with him/her. If they won't budge on the shipping amount (again assuming it wasn't stated in the auction), I would tell the seller which level to go to and risk the negative. Be sure to leave factual, not retalitory, feedback for them as well stating the overinflated shipping. Receiving a negative in this case just might outweigh the out of pocket cost to you. But, in the end, take the decision that lets you sleep better at night.
  4. RF swithces are good to use. They can be acquired from your local electronics store (Radio Shack). Of, you want better picture and sound, try one of these which can be purchased at most electronics stores as well. They are so much better. I use one of these hooked up to an A/B switch and pretty much have sworn off RF switches. Either one of these are also availabe through the on-line store here as well. Hope this helps.
  5. Well, I think it's going to snow today. I received my game from Mr. Rodd. Well, it was actually mailed by the police officer, but still the game I was SUPPOSED to get from him. The label is a bit tattered, but what am I gonna do? He claimed that "the game works, and it has a nice label too". Why doesn't this surprise me?? This is just more reason to believe that everybody else should be receiving their games. Happy days are here again! P.S. Remember, keep me posted as to whether you get your games. Mr. Rodd has 2 weeks to send them. I e-mailed the officer the list on the 25th so I would assume that 2 weeks starts running from the 26th. So if you don't receive anything by September 9, let me know.
  6. Again, no "reward" or anything is needed except one thing: Just let me know that you did receive your games. That's all I ask. I only did what had to be done.
  7. Exactly. And it does appear that that was what he was doing. The officer told me that she can confirm that he has internet access because he was on it several of the times she paid him a visit. I don't really think he tried to stick it to us, but I think he got in way over his head on this and "other stuff" and made the wrong decision on how to handle it. But, in the end, since it has been almost 5 months, it is quite clear that he didn't want to make good on it or he would have by now. Even if he send out a package a week, I would understand that, but this? No, there is no excuse for this. The least he could have done was given updates now and then, but since he didn't give the curtosedy of that, I offer no curtosedy to him. I just hope that this ordeal doesn't leave the sour taste in our mouths and hinder any possible trades with honest "newbies" .
  8. Well, if you want a slap, ask her "Do you want to play a quick game of Thrust?" You better duck fast. Sorry, I couldn't resist that one. But, seriously my fiancee likes Breakout/Super Breakout or Eggomania. Notice the comparision??
  9. AFAIK, the post office only accepts cash for money orders, not credit cards. But there are ways around this. For instance, I accept and use Bidpay.com. Through them you purchase a Western Union money order with a credit card, so you still have the protection of using a credit card, but the convienance of a money order. I'm sure there are other companies that do this, but this is the only one I know.
  10. Well, now don't thank me yet. First, I only did what needed to be done: inform the local authorities of the incident and get them the list of names and games. They did the "dirty work", not that I would have minded doing it myself, mind you. And second, as me mudder taught me, "don't count your chickens until they hatch". I'll never fully 100% believe it until I hold the game in my grubby little hands and I hope that you all do to. But, in the end, I think it's pretty safe to assume that the officer will follow through. I mean, if she went this far, why not finish it through. But I'm just glad that justice has been served.
  11. Another point the officer made. It doesn't matter if it was $5 or $500. People paid for something and didn't receive it. Theft of services or goods is what she called it. Theft is theft and until the law changes, theft is breaking the law.
  12. The officer's point exactly. That's why she is fed up with him, along with other incidents that I can't disclose. But she made it clear that if he doesn't send them, she will.
  13. I don't know who actually sent them; I suspect Pooyan, but I'll never know. They came from yahoo and hotmail accounts.
  14. Good news!!! Good news!!!! I have heard back from the Officer tonight. She is completely fed up with Mr. Rodd at this point. So far, she has confirmed that she mailed out my game today. She has also confirmed the following: 1 - He still has the games. They are packaged up and ready to be shipped. His excuse: he can't afford to ship them. She informed him that he has 2 weeks to ship them to the involved parties or suffer reprocussions. 2 - If you do not receive your games within 2 weeks, contact me via pm. At that point, the officer will seize the games and ship them out herself. Either way you WILL, yes WILL get your games. It just might take 3 weeks, but you will get them. 3 - Mr. Rodd is not happy with us, or more me, right now, but he broke the law. That's what the officer was trying to inform him. He claims that "how can a person get pissed over a $5 game". Her reponse? "Take that $5 game and times it by how many people and games they were supposed to get. It adds up to more than $5." I know that I have pissed off quite a few people doing this. How do I know you ask?? I received the hate mail. That's why I haven't been on in a while. But regardless, this wrong will soon be righted, and I can sleep a little better knowing that I have done the right thing. As was stated above, here's one for the good guys!!
  15. Well, that's his problem if he has done that. He has to make good on it one way or another. If he no longer has the items, he has to return payment. I asked this very same question to the Sargeant and that is what he informed me.
  16. OK, I searched the forums and only came up with 7 people (including myself) and have pm'd them. For some reason, I thought that there were more people than that involved. If there is someone that I missed, please let me know as I have to get the list to the Sargeant by Monday. Thanks.
  17. Well, I have heard back from the Littleton Police Sargent tonight. They have located and cornered Mr. Rodd at his residence. The sargent asked me to get a laundry list of what people are expecting. Once he has this list, he will confront Mr. Rodd with it and ask him to make good on it. So, if you are looking for your games, get me your list as this may be your only chance of getting them. Also, apparently, Mr Rodd does have internet access as he was on it when the police showed up at his door. Interesting. So, either e-mail or pm me the following info: 1) Your Name 2) What games you were supposed to get and for what system (example: Atari 2600 Pac-Man) He asked for this info in a timely manner as he doesn't want this to slip through the cracks. He couldn't guarantee that you'll get the games, but he will try his best. He also stated that he wasn't sure whether Mr. Rodd or the police department would ship them out, but he'll work on it. And, yes, I have been off for awhile but I wanted to let the involved people know this outcome. Thanks.
  18. When you changed your e-mail address, did you confirm your password? I believe you need to supply your password when you change ID's and/or e-mail addy's.
  19. You might also want to try VintageGamer.com as it deals primarily with Nintendo.
  20. I assume the lady you talked to on the phone was the same one I did. She was able to give me his cell phone in Atlanta. That's the number I have been calling for about a month now and still nothing; no call back, no e-mail, no package, nada. I know it's his cell phone because he gives his name on the voicemail message. But, we'll see if it shows up. I'm not going to hold my breath though.
  21. I thought about his account being stolen. It was one of the first thoughts that came to mind. But, on the auction I won, there were 10 winners. Why did some of them get their item and some did not?? Even if his account was stolen, he still has/had e-mail/telephone. He could have returned my NUMEROUS e-mails/telephone calls and explained that.
  22. As a buyer: 1 (thrower99) As a seller: 3 deadbeat bidders and 1 bidder who after 1 week of no e-mails, finally e-mailed me back and stated that he misread the auction and wasn't going to buy it. The nerve! And don't even get me started on Pooyan........
  23. The difference I noticed was look at the O and the C in the words "Loaner Cartridge". On the fake, the letters are thicker; on the real, the letters are skinnier.
  24. BUMP Just wanted to update this thread. I noticed this morning that he has been NARU'd and I still haven't received my item. I have been in friendly constant contact with the other buyers on the auction that we won and most of them have received their item. Weird indeed.
