  1. Which Atari Home Video Game Console System is Your Favorite, 1st to Last? My First Favorite is the Atari 2600 VCS Wood Grain 4 Switch from 1980- 1982, 2nd is the Atari 7800 Pro System, 3rd is the Atari 5200 Super System, 4th I the Atari Jaguar from 1993. Things are always the BEST when they are brand new. Back in the day when Atari was the king of video game industry, many years ago When I was 9 yrs. old & first introduced to the Atari 2600 VCS, The Intellivision & then the Colecovision home video game systems it was a BLAST back in the video game boom o 1982. I can say today that I am very glad that I was brought up in the 80's. Things were really cool then. There were a lot of things that were new in the tech industry, like Laser Video Discs, Tape Decks, CD players & of course the VCR. Things just aren't the same today. They're are a lot of new things today & tech moves a lot quicker today then it did back in the 1980's. I hope you enjoy my post :0)...
  2. My favorite NES Super Mario Bros. Game would be Super Mario Bros. 3. I just love when Mario becomes the raccoon & hits everything with his tail. I love all of them. They are my most favorite 3 Mario Bros. Games...1,2, & 3...
  3. 3D is a nice concept but I'll stick to 2D & HD. It just bugs out my eyes. untitled.bmp
  4. Besides Video Games I collect music, CD's, Cassettes, Vinyl, Digital Music, Antique Radios, DVD's, VHS Tapes, HD Blu Ray Disc's & Magazines. That's about it...
  5. 1 Atari 2600 4 Switch Woodgrain With Composite Mod 1 Atari 2600 Jr Rainbow 1 Atari Lynx ll Total: 3
  6. I did'nt mean to put this in this remark. I wanted to post it alone. Sorry. My mistake :0).
  7. I haven't seen this. IIRC the Vanguard graphics are in the ROM (it's been a long time since I've looked at it) but I didn't see a way to trigger them. They look like garbage data. As a side note I think Galaxian graphics are in the Centipede ROM. Amazing. Proof at last that an urban legend I heard back in 84 does indeed have some truth behind it. Thank you. I love Ms. Pac-Man. It's my favorite classic video game...
  8. The formats that I watch on my HDTV are: Upconvert 1080p DVD VHS DivX Mpeg4 Video CD Super Video CD I really wish I kind of had a CED Video Disc Player from RCA like back in the day. I was going to get one off Ebay but I thought that the Video Discs would just be too heavy. Heavier than records. That's just too much with todays technology. You can also find most of the movies that were available on CED Video Disc back from 1981 to 1983 on DVD. I have my favorite old movies from then stored on my PC hooked up to my HDTV in HD 720p. That's cool with me. I still think of the RCA Video Disc Player from time to time though. I have no more room for more things in my entertainment center. It's filled to the max. This was a good post. I found it very interesting because I like older things from the past such as 45's, 33's, 78's, Classic Video Games & RCA Video Disc Players :0)...
  9. Have'nt we done this before? I guess history does repeat itself. Lol...

  11. I don't watch a lot of TV. I play a lot of my 2600 & Xbox 360 when I have free time. I listen to a lot of music. Always have. I leave the music on in the background & surf the net occationally...
  12. I got my first DVD player in at the end of 2000. It was a RCA DVD player that had coaxial out for the video that I thought was cool because I did'nt have A/V jacks on my TV. My first DVD was The Andy Kaulfman Show. The DVD is hysterical. If you remember Andy Kaufman for the early SNL years, he was hysterical in a wierd way. I still have the DVD plus about 200 DVD's. I gave the old RCA DVD player to my Little Brother & he got a better one & threw it in his closet. I have about four DVD players now. My favorite on is my Pionner DVD player. It comes in in 1080p through HDMI. It's cool. What I did'nt like about DVD players when they first came out was they did'nt play the cd's made off the PC. Now they play everything, DVD+-R, CD-R, CD-RW, Mp3 & .avi. I also like my RCA 5 Disc DVD 5.1 Pro Logic Surround System alot too. The DVD's on that come in progressive 480p. I would like to get a Blu Ray Disc player soon because the price on those is coming down too.
  13. I would have to say the Nintendo Wii has the best dl'ed content in the classic sense. They are all good but the Wii has dl's for the NES, SNES, & Turbo Graphix 16. The others, such as the Xbox 360 & PS3 have arcade dl's. The Xbox 360 has some Xbox games & the PS3 has some PSone games.
  14. Atari 2600 VCS Namco- America- Ms. Pac- Man Intellivision- Astrosmash Colecovision- Donkey Kong
  15. No... I never completed Raiders of the Lost Ark but I would like to beat Ms. Pac- Man. I have the instructions to beat it but am too lazy to. Too many hours involved. I play for the fun of it all :0)...
  16. I'm paying four of my credit cards off as of right now & am saving the fifth for a rainy day. I pay $250.00 a month in credit card bills. It has to come to an end eventually. I would rather use cash for my major expences & just keep the $300.00 card for a rainy day for small expences ...
  17. That's funny :0). I was too busy playing my Nelson Pac- Man watch & Donkey Kong Jr. by Nintendo that I just sold a year ago & got no money for it :0(. I was deprived. I did'nt have an Atari 2600 VCS or 5200 Supersystem because my parents were too affraid I was gunna fight with my Brother & Sister. We sure did when the NES came out & it got put in the attick & we could never figure out the R.O.B robot, for the love of God, haha... Now back to my new PS3. HD is the best...
  18. i dont believe the colecovision was the reason atari ditched the 5200. much of the money went already to the oversaturated 2600 market.....atari even tried to bring back the 2600 later after the life of the 5200 too. had the 5200 been stock 2600 compatible from the beginning, people that had 2600 systems would have upgraded (gameboys and ps systems have proven records later the importance of backward compatibilty). colecovision had great graphics for its time too but the atari 5200 was right there in the same league. as far as the joystick, the biggest problem was the reliabilty. coleco and intellivision had terrible controllers too but their reliabilty was much better overall. there were many joysticks made (pc's, x-arcade) even after the 7800....today's thumbsticks on the ps systems or xbox systems are all modern day little joysticks. I believe mainly Atari ditched the 5200 because of the saturated marked of all the mass produced games for the Atari 2600 VCS. This was also the begining of the video game market from 1971- 1984. The video game industry was new & young. I appreciate your point of view because you are correct about this aspect. We could go on & on. There are many points of view.
  19. I believe Atari ditched the Atari 5200 Supersystem because of the success of the Colecovision in 1982. The Colecovision had stunning graphics of that time. It was made for competition with the Intellivision & the Colecovision. There were'nt a lot of third parties making games for the 5200. Atari did'nt like the idea of third parties making money off their systems but there was nothing they could do about this which led to The Great Crash of Video Games in 1984 because of all the surpluss that was being made for a lot of poor games & the need to get them out to make money. Also becuase the controllers were so bad, they sucked. Atari believed all their systems needed a joystick. In 1984 the Atari 7800 Prosystem was made & not released until 1986 because of Jack Tremiel, new owner of Atari Co. in 1984. He was the owner of Commodore & just belived in home computers becoming the new hardware for video games & home computing as well as business computing in the 80's. The 7800 Supersystem used joystick controllers as well as the European controller that gives you an option to take off the joystick & just use it as a touch pad controller. This was the end of the joysticks after the European controller was made but was'nt availible in the States during this time. The Atari 5200 Prosystem was made because of Atari's need for money & competition with more superior systems such as the Colecovision & Intellivision. There was to much production & the need for money for third company parties to survive. Atari managed to survive after The Great Crash of 1984 but was'nt present at the 1985 Video Game Expo becuase of Atari's decreasing sales & the ability to make money. Atari Co. as well as Sega is just a software company today because they were'nt able to keep up with the demand of money & technology because of money these companies have lost through the years. There is a lot of factors involved.
  20. I mostly by my video games used. Especially the classics unless they're boxed & wrapped then I guess you can say they're like new becuase of not being used but then they're dated so they are not new. If it's a new racing game I buy it new. I love racing games on such systems as the 360 because they look so real.
  21. No, I don't have any kids but I have a 9 year old nephew that likes to play his PSP & DS I just bought him last week :0)...
  22. I don't play games on line. I'm strictly retro even with my newer stuff. I like racing games a lot, especially the graphics on the cars & how they shine & how real they look :0)... I wish I had that. I want one!!!
  23. Phoenix is an arcade port. (I'd even say Enduro is a borderline Turbo clone... but it's not quite.) Only Tennis is original to the 2600. The rest are all ports from arcade games, except Astroblast (Astrosmash - Intellivision), and Dark Chambers (Dandy - Atari 8-bit). This thread is about games that originated on the 2600. If you're looking to discuss the best 2600 games in general, try this thread. I know. I'm sorry. I realized after I typed it in. I got too excited to say what my favorites are. My mistake. I did that thread too. I Did'nt pay close attention.
