I could use a PAL converter but I hear that sometimes the signal can be sketchy depending on the quality of the unit. The Spectrum 128 has an RGB port so I was thinking of connecting it to a Amiga monitor or getting a RGB -> VGA cable. As far as cost, my main concern is reliability, compatibility, and the sound chip. Thats it!

Which one would you purchase? Would you need a step down converter? If so can you recommend one? Wiki baffles me on which system to buy. It seems like the later models were the most reliable, yet least compatible. Ideally I'd like to shoot for something that is super reliable but also mostly compatible with everything.

I've noticed that the Spectrum (speccy) seems to be more popular in Russia. While the Atari 8 bit is popular in Poland. The C64 / Amiga seem to be popular (for obvious reasons) in Germany. Where are you from in the world and what is the most popular (classic) computer in your country? Why do you think this is so?

Could any of you compare/contrast Protector SE with Data Storm (Amiga)?

Another place that might suit your fancy is Aladins castle at Gurnee Mills. Granted, not much old stuff. But it has 10+ games (the most I've seen at any one time in recent memory.) Once in a while I get the "itch" to open an arcade but there is a reason why they are nearly extinct :-(
