  1. Another month down the road and I'm stuck with Spiral this time. Okay, I was on vacation for a week and got sidetracked by Fire Emblem some, but still I think I'll again set up a deadline for this week - or I'll turn down the difficulty next monday! ;)

Unlike e.g. Omega Red is Spiral actually a lot of fun to play, she's just pretty weak and most of her "powers" just feel like gimmicks ;)

  2. I don't know if the Xbox 360 version differs from the originals, but my PSP version of the game has Darius-style level branching. So, while one run of the game is 5 levels long, there are other levels not played in that run. Assuming the 360 version didn't change that, did you make it through every actual level or just one path? I was never able to beat the hardest path's final level. In retrospect, it might be doable for me if I start a new session and play well enough (quitting and restarting levels as necessary) so that I reach that final level with several more lives than in my "current" save. However, that would probably be more quitting and restarting than I could tolerate.

Hm... I'm sorry, I don't think I saw anything that looked like a branching path to me. I think you can get different ranks for each level though, maybe I just wasn't good enough to unlock a different path. Basically I just played the normal game until I got the credits rolling :)

  3. Yes, just like those old PS2 games, Champions and Baldurs Gate. Local couch co-op top down view. Many people bashed this game because it was a mindless hack n slash and loot but I never really grow tired of those especially because they are great games to play with family or the wife. :P

We enjoyed it for the most part. Its not the greatest but for 20 bucks or less its worth it in my opinion and the storyline is way better than those old games which really didn't have much of a storyline. I may actually get the one and only DLC for this so we can continue with our characters.

Thanks, I'll scout for a copy then! :D

  4. What? The Thrawn triology is the best thing to ever happen in Star Wars. The only way I will go see the new movies is if they are the Thrawn trilogy. To me Star Wars starts at episode 1 and ends with the last book in the Thrawn series.

Glad to hear that the books worked for someone. Personally I'll decide whether I want to see Ep. 7 or not based on upcoming trailers though :)

  5. But the Disney version isn't based on the books, or so called Prawn Trillogy, as I have heard.

It's "Thrawn" and this book trilogy was rather lame, so we're quite lucky if they're not using them as base for the third trilogy script. I was referring to the Bounty Hunter Trilogy though, which in most part runs parallel to Ep. 4 - Ep. 6, telling what Boba was doing in the background all the time.

My only and actual point though was that as long as it features a surviving Boba Fett they can do what they want in Ep. 7 :)

  6. If you can beat Super Ghouls n Ghosts the first time around, you should be able to beat it the second time. But having to take out the winged devil guys and the final bosses with the crappy ring weapon is a bitch.

There's lotsa hidden chests in the final section, so at least you can grab it right there. Beware though, there's some climbing part right at the beginning of the final continue spot, where it's better to not(!) open the first hidden chest - just summon it (to advance the content sequence) and then ignore it. It is usually a weapon and you may accidentally drop down later, right onto it, losing the crossbow in case :o

BTW: The game hasn't unlimited continues, after a while the number will drop if you not collect enough gold sacks I think.

Overall still the easiest game in the series though ;)

  7. Phew, seems I finally managed to improve my minimalistic "use only 25% of Omega Reds moveset" fighting style far enough to beat the game once again :lolblue:

Kinda interesting, Omega Red was the only character so far who got some kind of "special" ending sequence on the Playstation. While all the other endings before were basically talk|talk|talk|talk|explosion, he got an additional scene grabbing a carbonadium synthesizer.

Next in line is the Silver Samurai. IMO the weakest character in the hands of the AI, lets hope not in mine as well :ponder:

(Unlike Omega Red he at least has a projectile attack... :))

  8. You don't really have to memorize anything--not in the sense you would, say, the dial-a-combos in Mortal Kombat 3. I suppose what I am saying is, at least learn a couple of "one-two" or "one-two-three" strings. Or a launcher (propels the enemy into the air), then follow it up with a strong hit. You don't have to be godlike about it, just a little something to get you along a bit easier. :P

That's kinda what I meant as well. Usually those kind of things magically just come on their own if I play the same character over and over for a while. I actually know some of those moves that work with Omega Red, albeit so far it doesn't help much. About the only really usable moves he seems to have are Strong Punch, Strong Kick, his Throws and the Omega Destroyer, all his coil moves just feel either 'unreliable' or 'complicated'.

But well, last night I saw Magneto for the second time, so there's still hope :)

  9. Try to be--it will make your life much easier. These games were designed with combos in mind. :)

I know that, but I kinda prefer having a good game with an intuitive playstyle rather than working on / memorizing combos. Yet if I figure something out, like some infinite or near infinite moves to finish the AI, I'll exploit that without regret :lolblue:

  10. Finally finished Mass Effect 3. I did not like the ending. Didn't like the fact you had to buy a separate app for hardware I don't have to change the outcome of the ending.

You can improve the # of ending choices via playing Multiplayer games IIRC, but I got all options through playing the story alone, by gathering *all* races under my command.

  11. That game is by far the hardest Capcom fighter I ever bought. Sill love it, but geez. I like the Saturn version a little better though. I just hate that Ice Man is so weak in this game.

I agree regarding Iceman, but I still managed to beat arcade mode with him by spaming avalanches :D

I forgot, is there a practice mode in this game where you can practice your combos and moves against a dummy opponent? If there is, I would spend time with that. I remember Omega Red being kind of weird with how he attacks, so you will want to practice a bunch of different kind of strings to see what connects well. Then you can take what you learn there into the arcade mode. If the game doesn't have a practice mode, then sort of simulate the same thing by hooking up a second controller and beating up on an absent player 2 repeatedly.

I'll give this a try, although I'm generally not much of a 'combo' player ;)

  12. I couldn't play God of War so far, since my PS2 won't play dual layer games, but ~ a week ago I picked up the God of War Collection from "Essentials" series. And I just finished the first one now.

Quite entertaining I must say, can't wait for the second game :D

  13. Just bought the God of War collection today. The games are probably quite good, but for a false start did the "Plus" code that did come with this "Essential" version not work, which makes me quite angry at the moment - I could've gotten Okami HD for free this month...

I wonder if it'll help calling a Sony Hotline tomorrow or if it's just hopeless when such a code doesn't work... :ponder:
