  1. Hi there!

If I understood what you said, then even though any NDA probably expired years ago, the source might still be copyrighted, thus making it available to the public would violate this copyright.

Ok, so I'm gonna speak with the copyright holder.

BTW: Epyx is owned by a company called "Alpha Omega Publications", not Infrogrames.

    Greetings,

    Manuel

  2. Hi there!

Please help me with these questions:

Assuming I was offered the original source of an Epyx game, could publishing this online possibly cause any severe legal troubles for me or the author?

How long is an NDA valid?

Is an NDA still valid, after the company who requested it was bought by another comapny?

Are there exceptions like publishing 15+ year old sources for "studying purposes" only?

    Greetings,

    Manuel

  3. I still hate country.

Phew... even if you hate it, you should at least try Johnny Cash or one of the Hank Williams. Maybe it's just the goth side in me liking songs like "You'll never get out of this world alive", but that's damned cool stuff :)

Uhm... back to the subject, does anyone know, while the C64 version was called "Burning Rubber"?

    Greetings,

    Manuel

  4. Hi there!

Sorry, but I always thought that "Herzog Zwei" sucked just like "Z" from the Bitmap Brothers.

You conquer a base, the enemy conquers this base back, you conquer it again, the enemy conquers it again... go on like that for hours. Total crap.

I don't think "Herzog Zwei" is the godfather of RTS either. Actually I rather a wonder why Blizzard and Westwood carried on doing such a game after seeing that crap.

All other Tecnosoft games are far superior, think the Thunderforce series, think Elemental Master.

Or try Warcraft or Dune 2 if it must be RTS.

Or if it must be a strategy game Genesis conversion, how about War Song? General Chaos? Cannon Fodder? Actraiser?

Almost any game is better than "Herzog Zwei", even Kemcos crappy GBA RTS "Mech Platoon" is already better than that...

    Greetings,

    Manuel

  5. Hi there!

I need some advice playing A-Team. What I don't get is which of the guys I should shoot and which not. Or in other words, what is my goal in here?

Prevent building the rocket or speed it up?

    Which sprites should I shoot:

[ ] The guy on top

[ ] The guy in the black dress

[ ] The guys building the rocket

[ ] The guys desrtoying the rocket

And does anyone have any clues about what the other two scenes are all about? I mean, I know how to play them, but are there any special goals?

And what am I doing there?

    Questions, questions...

    Anyway, excellent & fun game.

    Greetings,

    Manuel

  6. Hi Stan!

"I applied alcohol to the contacts several times, but it just wouldn't work," Stan told reporters.  Pencil erasers were also used in trying to make the Activision classic play again, but finally, at 6:07 PM this evening, the Sky Jinks cart was pronounced dead.

So, if all this already failed, give it one last try by soldering thin shiny lines over all the contacts (Beware of Short-circuits!). Chances normally are 50:50, but especially with Activision cartridges this seems to work more often.

    Greetings,

    Manuel

  7. Hi there!

In order for the score to be verified' date=' a videotape of the entire game would need to be provided to TG. Alternatively' date=' a Twin Galaxies official, such as myself, would need to witness the entire game. Videotape is the preferred method, as gamplay can be more closely observed via videotape.[/quote'']

We've been discussing to set up a new 2600 record on the 8-Bit meeting in Frankfurt/Main in November. Could you possibly send a referee? :D

Ok, without kidding, assuming we had a bunch of regulars from the board here (Probably Marc, Marco, Fish, Thomas, me & more or others) as eye-witnesses, plus, let's say a shot from a digital-cam straight from a real TV from a game where the score does _not_ roll, would that be Ok, or do we still need to tape (on PAL VHS?) it?

    Greetings,

    Manuel

  8. It's the game where you're like a westerner and you shoot at the other westerner.  It was very cool, and only $15, but StanJR recommened Marble Craze, so that's what I got, and I'm very happy with it.

I got that right, Stan owes me a beer now? ;)

    Greetings,

    Manuel

    7. Donkey Kong

    8. Karate

    9. Star Wars : Jedi Arena

    Greetings,

    Manuel

  10. Huhu!

    Manuel

  11. Hi there!

It's been almost half a year, so I'm updating my GBA top 5:

    1. Castlevania 2

    2. Mario Kart

    3. Advance Wars

    4. Golden Sun

    5. X-Men Reign Of The Apocalypse

Not too much changes, I hope X-Mas will finally see some more really excellent releases...

    Greetings,

    Manuel

  12. Hi Z28in82!

Every FAQ I have seen recommends using a DSS combo that I don't have and can't seem to beat this boss any advice or suggeestions would be apperiated.

While I can't remember any special strategy, I can probably help you finding the DSS cards. I have a list where they are located. Just tell me which you are missing.

Other than that, Matty is right, just try to level-up Simon a little. Observe what the enemy is doing, maybe there are safe-spots, or attack schemes you can easily avoid.

BTW: I'm just playing the sequel, it's sooooo cool! Finally closing the GBA-Crap-Gap!

    Greetings,

    Manuel

  13. I initially wanted to get a copy of Marble Craze (played it at CGE and it rocks!), but now i am curious as to what else you folks would recommend.

Well, if you're already in the catalog section where Marble Craze is displayed, you can't do any wrong there, I'd say... |:)

    Greetings,

    Manuel

  14. @Albert:

The article was in the german Computer Game magazine PC Action. More details will come tomorrow, because it is 01.22 am now(Monday!!!) where I'm from and I need to go to bed immediately!!!

I think Simon said ( :D ) he's working on scans of this article himself, as well as another article about homebrews in "Maniac!", where MK was mentioned too.

    Greetings,

    Manuel

  15. Congrats on defeating Megamania.  Now, send in your score to Twin Galaxies and get published in the Book of World Records!  :)

I just had a crazy idea. Totally Off Topic but here it goes:

On Mario Kart on the GBA, you can transfer Your "ghosts" for the Time Trials via the link cable.

Now, my idea was - instead of transfering the data from GBA to GBA, one should find a solution to transfer it to a PC and back!

    Consider this:

    GBA PC Twingalaxies

Hey, this'd be the coolest thing on earth! You could just download the current world record "ghost" to your GBA, beat it and pass it back. All 100% valid, no cheating possible!

    Phew... sooooo cool!

    Greetings,

    Manuel

  16. Hmmmmmmmm, this sounds like a good way to get my feet wet in 2600 programming!  :D  Maybe we should make a list of candidate games that have some type of musical score or tunes that would be worth ripping?

So far I made these criteria:

    - The jingle/tune should be longer than 5 seconds (You'll be surprised how much stuff drops out here :) )

    - One jingle/tune per game

If you take a look at all 20+ games beginning with 'A' for example, you'll quickly realize that there's only "Acid Drop" & "A-Team" worth ripping.

It's really less than 10% of the complete library that has tunes worth ripping.

If you really want to give it a try, I'd suggest starting with a 4K game :)

I can post you my current framework for this project in case, if you like. The graphic display is reduced to a minimum, so one can concentrate on the tunes. :-)

    Greetings,

    Manuel
