Hi there! I'm totally surprised by myself. Amazing learning curve here, I went from 100K to almost 150K from one game to another. Almost like if my body memorized all the correct movements over night... Greetings, Manuel

Hi there! First game today and a new personal best: 149730 (First magic fish as well! Heya here I come!) Greetings, Manuel

Hi there! That would require not too much work I think. First you'd probably have to switch it to Joystick control, so you can add shifting gears and brakes. Then adding the guy giving you the starting flag would also be a cool touch. Greetings, Manuel

Hi there! Small improvement to 99.300. Phew... guess I started playing much too late for a good position... Greetings, Manuel

Hi there! This time I picked the oldest bunch of Midway Arcade games that never officially made it to the 2600. And the question is again: Which of these is the most desired for the Atari 2600? Greetings, Manuel

Games with original source code available?
Cybergoth replied to Bruce Tomlin's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Hi there! I have the original Apple 2 sources for the Epyx Games Impossible Mission 2 and Spider Bot available for download on my Epyx Shrine. Greetings, Manuel -
Hi there! No clue about the NES, but the 7800 definitely not. MARIA is the most ugly chip to work with I've ever seen Hm... I thought there's libraries out to programm the Colecovision in turbo-c, so maybe that was a nice environment for such a project. It has simple character mode backgrounds, real sprites, a neat soundchip, a well documented CPU - my suggestion! Greetings, Manuel

Hi there! Here's the definite Colecovision info you're looking for: http://grblitz.overclocked.org/colex1.htm The views of the guy are spot on IMHO in most cases. Only thing coming close for the Intellivision is http://www.videogamecritic.net/intel.htm It's also pretty good, but not as accurate as a reference, since the vgc generally has a tendency to rate simpler action/sport games higher than complexer strategy/rpg games. (Also his review record isn't complete, but he should have all "essentials".) Greetings, Manuel

Hi there! I think you got me Now, weren't Enduro and Activisions Tennis just the "tennis game" and the "racing game" of their time (as I'd put it) or are these really considered "classics"? Greetings, Manuel

Hi there! Just curious wether people would consider any 2600 games of generic categories (mainly sports and racing) a classic? I personally think especially those games age really badly and generally prefer playing modern versions of those. I mean, Night Driver for example was pretty good at its time, but there's no real reason in playing it now, when there've been like 200+ better racing games released since then. Greetings, Manuel

Hi there! Ah, silly me... please disregard my score already, I just realized that I played variant 1 instead of 3... Greetings, Manuel

Hi there! I'm in this week, starting slow with 27.220 points. Greetings, Manuel

Hi there! Amazing how the most important part of this project hasn't been discussed yet: Will it feature April or Bonnie in the cut-scenes? When it's April, I'll boycott it. Greetings, Manuel

Anyone get Infrogramme Retro Classics for ds?
Cybergoth replied to legeek's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Hi there! According to Gamerankings, The Atari collection currently sits on the bottom of all DS Games (with 5 or more ratings): 1. Super Mario 64 DS 87.2% 2. WarioWare Touched! 84.1% 3. Feel the Magic: XY/XX 76.8% 4. Zoo Keeper 75.2% 5. Yoshi's Touch & Go 75.1% 6. Polarium 75.0% 7. Mr. Driller Drill Spirits 72.1% 8. The Urbz: Sims in the City 69.8% 9. Madden NFL 2005 68.0% 10. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 68.0% 11. Ridge Racer DS 64.9% 12. Spider-Man 2 64.9% 13. Asphalt: Urban GT 63.0% 14. Sprung 51.2% 15. Pokemon Dash 48.7% 16. Retro Atari Classics 48.6% 17. Ping Pals 24.1% This list also is the reason why I don't own a DS yet. Not a single title worth buying... Greetings, Manuel -
Hi there! No matter what they do, I'll always hate them for killing Bullfrog and Origin. Greetings, Manuel

Hi there! Ah cool. I just thought about the possibility of having you working on something that just won't work out, so still programming it then would waste my time as well I think having the idea discussed first would be best. Then you'll see wether it's doable or not. Hm... we have several possibilities here. I think I can display 4 of those sprites, each 8 pixels wide. The height doesn't really matter, just as high as it needs to be. Color is a thing. I'm not sure wether multicolor would make it easier or harder for you as opposed to monochrome? More or less I think I can adapt to your preference here. (I might be able to do it monochrome with single scanline resolution though, while multicolor definitely requires 2 scanlines. So you might depend your descission also on the vertical resolution.) Another possibility would be having the guns fixed at 90°, if its rotation is the major trouble factor. (The gameplay wouldn't lose too much here, I find I'm not even using the rotation on the arcade. The game seems to work just fine with straight shots) If none of this works out, we could consider having just 2 16 pixel wide sprites (instead of 4 8 pixel wides). This would limit gameplay variants though (No more 2 player co-op, just 1-on-1 duels) Greetings, Manuel

Hi there! What if c would more or less depend on wether the artwork is doable? As in "If you manage to do some good graphics, I'll program it?" I'm asking because I had an idea. I thought about doing a game like Cops'n'Robbers - with cowboys on horseback. So it'd require a vertical riding cowboy on a horse, with his gun pointing at various angles. But I fear that it might be just too complex to be doable, or? Greetings, Manuel

2600 Games in the new Play-It-Now Player (any good?)
Cybergoth replied to Robert M's topic in Atari 2600
Hi there! Learn something new every day Greetings, Manuel -
Hi there! Forgot to mention something obvious (? ): The sunset in Seawolf is the one from Crash Dive. Greetings, Manuel
-
Hi there! Color makes a big difference, indeed. I based some of the sprite shapes one the ones from Seawolf 2. Also the shades of blue and the moving water. The sequel definitely was the one influencing me more. I also used graphics from the A800 version. The Red Cross ships are an element of Broderbunds Seafox game and some things like the refueling pod are just "new" features, either from myself or suggested from [stella] members or in the Homebrew Forum right here. I usually try to create a game as "best of genre", so I'm looking at all similar games I can get my hands on, trying to merge the things I like best into my vision of the game. Greetings, Manuel
