Hi there Nuckey! Thanks for your tips! After some more experimenting, I have the game running now - BUT: It only works with "Internal Speaker" as sound option. I tried all sound blaster options and checked for a correct "SET BLASTER" string, but there's no way to get that going with my sound card. Any further ideas to solve that? Greetings, Manuel

Hi there! Maybe a rather strange request, but what I'm looking for is some sort of an emulation of a MS-DOS environment for Windows '98. The problems I have is that I don't get "Battle Bugs", a '94 DOS game running anymore. First it didn't have enough memory, but after discarding the "keyb" from the Autoexec.bat it started. It now freezes after entering the copy protection code. That is in a plain W98 DOS Box. If I boot in MS-DOS right away, the game bails out complaining about finding no mouse driver... Gee. It's been almost a decade that I last dealt with crap like that. How do I get a DOS mouse-driver running when booting W98 in MS-DOS mode? Best would be some MS-DOS emulation, which'd provide lot's of this 640K base mem, and has mouse & sound & vesa & every other driver ready to use... Is there something like that available? Greetings, Manuel

Hi there! I'm wondering wether this is off topic here, since this is about a contest run outside Atari Age, but on the Jumpman Lounge: http://www.classicgaming.com/jlounge/ Here's some details: "Closing date for submitting your user-made Jumpman Lives! level: 31 January 2003 I am thrilled to announce the Jumpman Lives! Hi Albert! They are. They are working on a new Album since 1991 I think. But I don't think they'll ever release it though, they'll just sit back and enjoy their status of being legends. They should already be well in their 60's and the only thing they did release in the last 10 years was a Jingle for the Expo 2000. I think they got paid some $150K for 20 seconds of music And they're doing a live performance every five years or so. I saw them on stage in Karlsruhe in 1997 or 1998 I think. I think the visitors was 1/3 Germans, 1/3 Japanese and 1/3 rest of the world. The show was sold out half a year before it happened and on the evening I was offered $500 for my ticket!! I think they are dead cool. In an interview some time ago they were asked what they are doing all day nowadays and they just replied "We are Kraftwerk" Greetings, Manuel

Hi Ubersaurus! Yes, that makes sense. AA already have the new binaries. I'd like to encourage all CC users, both with NTSC & PAL systems, to give it another playtesting run. Greetings, Manuel -
GBA Developer Crawfish is dead...
Cybergoth replied to Cybergoth's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Hi Moycon! I traced the info from two German GBA pages back to: http://www.gamesindustry.biz/ Here's the complete note: "Crawfish closes its doors Rob Fahey 17:58 15/11/2002 Leading UK GBA developer shuts down, laying off all its staff Crawfish, one of the UK's most prolific developers of Game Boy Advance titles, has closed down, with all of the studios staff being made redundant earlier this week. The reason for the closure has not yet emerged, although it has been widely rumoured that certain financial obligations were not met by one of the publishers the studio did work for. A note of hope has been sounded, however, by suggestions that some of the work in progress at the developer - best known for titles including Ecks Vs Sever, Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Speedball 2 on the GBA - may yet be continued. An official statement from Crawfish is expected early next week." Greetings, Manuel -
Hi there! Believe it or not, but Eckhard Stolberg did a third iteration of this particular game for the 2600 and in his version the cars are colored! Greetings, Manuel
-
Hi there! According to my sources, Crawfish is out of business. This'd be really bad day for all GBA owners, since Crawfish were the guys behind the Cinemaware & Bitmap Brothers GBA remakes and other cool stuff like "Ecks vs. Sever" and "Street Fighter 3 Alpha".... Greetings, Manuel

help (for my german speaking friends)
Cybergoth replied to inextremis staple's topic in International
Hi there! You wouldn't use "bersten" to translate that. "bersten" is not an action performed by a person. In german language only the door can "burst", most likely as reaction to a real explosin or some other force really destroying it. Depending on the overall context, you'd translate that either with: "Er stürmte durch die Tür" as in he "rushed through the door" "Er brach durch die Tür." as in he opened it with brute force. And I think the simple past of "bersten" is "barst", if you're really looking for that. But again, the door can "bersten", not the guy Greetings, Manuel -
Hi Thomas! According to David, Star Fire doesn't work. Maybe the MacStella team didn't update the cpu-instruction files? You know, the macro-generated stuff you once mailed me? Greetings, Manuel

Hi Tim! I was already wondering if I was the only one who feels that way. While clearly supporting all of Thomas actions so far, I just want to understand Randys actions. I decided very early on to say nothing to the whole matter, except if I saw a chance to help ending it in ways most people could live with or if something dead-wrong was said, where I saw a real need of setting things straight. Unfortunately Randy once more totally overreacted and it seems very hard to build a bridge for him to come back without losing his face now. I'm sure if he'd gave in earlier, it would've been for the better for him and the scene as a "whole". Greetings, Manuel

Hi Atarius Maximus! Thanks for your reply! Makes me think. In early November I was talking with Randy over a deal where he would produce me some rare games for the Gunfight royalties he owes me. In particular, on the 7th November I asked him this: "If you do copies of original games, do they come without any label at all or do they have at least some "Hozer White Label" telling the name of it?" To which he replied on the same day: "My wife (and others) are constantly asking me to label the released copies I make. [...] So, yes, I will probably ship them with labels of some sort, fancy and laminated. This will be my new policy I reckon." Phew... Well. You certainly couldn't know. So when Thomas discovered that this "conversion" page was up and told Randy to stop this, you were actually in the middle of the process of creating the labels, right? Well. I know that Thomas explicitely asked Randy to stop producing *all* of his works at least once before all of this. My only idea about how all of the current misery could happen, was that Randy didn't take Thomas request as serious as he should have done. I now it was heated at the time and he probably thought that after stopping the production of Thomas homebrew games it was done for good. Maybe now, when Randy calms down again, he is realizing his misinterpretation of things and after removing all offers of Thomas stuff from his page, he can safely return into business. Greetings, Manuel

Hi there! First want to tell you that I feel really, really sorry for you and all the work you did. I sure hope it'll surface again. To put some more puzzle pieces in place, may I please ask a few more details about your dealings with Randy? You must know, it is particular hard to get a "complete picture", when Thomas and I are actually sitting in Germany and there's only mails passed around, without us knowing anyone from the U.S. we're dealing with in person. There's a few questions I'd like to ask regarding especially the controler hacks and TV format conversions Thomas did: - Did Randy pay you any real $$ for doing labels for these particular cartridges? How much? - When did Randy first ask you to do labels for Thomas stuff? - Which was the last of these labels you delivered and when exactly did that happen? Greetings, Manuel

Hi Thomas! Are you sure that the changes Eckhard did for us made it into an officiall Z26 release yet Greetings, Manuel

Ah, I see. So you don't need 16 Bit sprites -> Cool There should be several early experimental Gunfight Kernels (+ source!) in the archive which do exactly that. I remeber spending a lot of time on such a flat sprite+missile approach, before I gave in and switched to the more isometric approach. For Gunfight I had to, in order to gain time for displaying the obstacle in the middle, but for Dog Patch it should do fine. Good beginners project I'd say! Greetings, Manuel
