  1. Hi Rob! I've given some thought to this and I'm certain that it can be done - with compromises. Having the three guys on one horizontal line is just too much. You'd have to move the guy in the middle either up or down or discard him completely. Drawing the players with 8 pixel resolution will look very crappy - I know becuse I tried that for Gunfight. To get the required 16 pixel resolution you either have to get something going like the Galaxian trick with two sprites at once (might be doable, since they're not moving around), or you'd have to flicker both cowboys, which'd certainly be waaaay easier to programm, but you'd have contant 30Hz flicker on the main players. Anyway, if anyone wants to give it a uhm... *shot* feel free to base it on the Gunfight source, which might be a good start Greetings, Manuel
  2. Hi there! I just thought to give you a pointer to this really cool Asteroids remake called Disasteroids: http://www.lmnopc.com/disasteroids3d/ I like it a lot. I have even installed the source and have it compiling, so I probably might start to add/tweak/mess features some day Greetings, Manuel
  3. Hi there! Can't really speak for the others (I think there might be one in the pipe for Robot City), but the Star Fire label is already in the works by David. I was (and still am) so happy with the Gunfight label, that I promised him that one back then and I'm certainly sticking to my word, I hope you don't mind. Greetings, Manuel
  4. Hi there! I prefer the green one. It looks so cool like the 80's neon-style The rainbow colored "collection" looks rather disturbing I think. Greetings, Manuel
  5. Certainly. There's "Robot City" in the works from Thomas, Paul just announced his return to the VCS, Christopher already started a new project as well, I will deliver "Star Fire" some day (Not in time for X-Mas as announced before though, I'm sorry ) and we'll be talking with some other guys too... (if we haven't already! ) I'd say there'll be at least 4 new Xype games coming in 2003! Greetings, Manuel
  6. Hi there! Uhm... what's wrong with the programm code as is? Is there any significant difference between Surround and how a Light Cycle game should be? Greetings, Manuel
  7. Huhu! Kein Problem Von Star Trash habe ich nur die C64 version. Hab' nie kapiert, worum es in dem Spiel ging... hatte aber schöne Musik, wie alle RA Spiele Grüße, Manuel
  8. Billy Eno did an excellent homebrew version called "Warring Worms". Great fun with tons of new ideas. And there's "Surround" in the original library... Greetings, Manuel
  9. Hi Paul! This is a brill idea! I would contribute a better mockup screen for Sea Wolf 2 and probably one for Dog Patch if I may? Greetings, Manuel
  10. Huhu! Uih... welches denn?
  13. Day 3 / Max score: 40950 / Best first life: 22K That's a good one. Being cold-blooded seems to be the perfect strategy. I try to completely(!) eliminate maybe 1-2 Asteroids early in a wave and for the others I'm trying to wait until their last pass before collision Precisely aimed quick blasts are another important thing, yes There's very very rare occasions when I move. Actually when there was enough time to turn your ship and fly away, then there was enough time for blasting the thing as well! Only when there's two deadly things closing in from two sides at once, I move. Or when I just lost a ship and for the new one somethings closing in from the bottom. 2.1. If you ignored 2. - make sure that you're stopped & back in the center before finishing the wave Greetings, Manuel
  14. Hi Aaron! Uhm... what about using [stella] as mailing list? I don't think I'm gonna start reading mailing lists for single games Greetings, Manuel
  15. Day 2 / Max score: 32950 / Best first life: 18K Cool! It's just for a fun challenge and good for exchanging Asteroids strategies I already have a good one: 1. Crack up only as few of the big Asteroids as necessary. Greetings, Manuel
  16. Day 1 / Max score: 23.000 -> 23% Maybe I should describe the hardware first for this. It's all PAL and stock versions: - Heavy 6er - CX2649P color label with 1981 copyright. - Jr. Joystick ->no auto fire! - 15" color TV - Sony VHS VCR I'm getting a brilliant picture on this tried & tested setup. I've been playing Astreroids regularly for some 3 months now. I played only the B variants, as Thomas said for eliminating the "Luck" factor. I don't know wether 32A or 32B would be easier, it's just my personal taste. I started yesterday with 3 one hour sessions to get *warm* with this variant. 4 times I reached over 20K points, the best try was exactly 23.000 points. The best first life was some 13.XXX points. Well, my first impression is that it's doable with enough training. But I think it's more a matter of brain surgery like concentration then of a quick firing thumb and reflexes only I haven't yet started to tape the sessions, I think I'll do once I managed to clear 50.000 for the first time... Thanks for showing interest and feel free to join in Greetings, Manuel
  17. Huhu! (kein Bausatz!) Planlose Grüße, Manuel
  18. 30.11.2002: - The idea is born. Greetings, Manuel
  19. Hi there! I'd love to see a VCS port of Dog Patch too Greetings, Manuel
  20. Hi there! Yes, go for it! This was the sort of silly idea I was looking for when the 1K game programming contest was held this year Greetings, Manuel
  21. Hi Paul! Glad to hear you're coming back on track There's another RPG attempt in the [stella] archives. Unlike Erik Mooneys try, the one from David Schweinsberg was way closer to Ultima. You could already roam around on some sort of a map. Looked very promising: http://www.biglist.com/lists/stella/archiv...6/msg00093.html This is only the start of it, I think there is a later version where you could already move. Greetings, Manuel
  22. Hi there! Once you actually start programming anything, you'll quickly realize how perfectly Pong would translate to the VCS. Whatever you get out of it beyond that is just limited by your time, dedication & imagination. For the VCS you get to hear "impossible" all day and actually that is the challenge. All things you listed are impossible on the VCS. Prove me wrong Greetings, Manuel
  23. Hi there! 2600: Asteroids (Still trying to roll 4B ) GBA: Breath of Fire (Beat it yesterday!) / Harry Potter & the Sorcerers Stone PC: Technomage Greetings, Manuel
