    2600 Music

Hi there! Hehe, then I'm working on the 4th way My idea was to create one single giant BIN file that contains all original 2600 music ever made. Since I already managed to squeeze almost all music from Parker games into one 4K binary, I assume that one 32K cartridge would be enough for the classic stuff. 95% of Atari games don't have any real music at all. I'm working on this occasionally. If anyone is wanting to submit some music rips to this project, feel free to contact me Greetings, Manuel
  3. Hi there! Yesterday I noticed to my surprise, that the GBA version of "V-Rally 3" boots with an Atari logo! Greetings, Manuel
  4. Hi Scooterb23! Thanks for this excellent review! Greetings, Manuel
  5. Hi there! Cool stuff! Some friendly Commodore soul scanned every single Epyx advertisment that was ever released in any Compute! magazine! So I just uploaded 21 brandnew advertisment pages for Epyx games. If you have any old mags with more Epyx adds I don't have, please contact me. Did Epyx buy pages in the ANTIC mag for example? Currently I'd be most interested in advertisments for the "Star Fire / Fire One" and "Gun Fight / Sea Wolf 2" releases from Epyx. Anyway, enjoy what's offered right now. I bet the advertisment for "Dragonriders of Pern" is one of the coolest you've ever seen! Greetings, Manuel
  6. Pretty close then. Ya know, there's a board called 'Classic Gaming' on this page, too. Might be a good compromise between here and Off Topic Greetings, Manuel
  7. Ah, no problem. Please consider my post just a bug-report, not an attack I'm currently in the process of recreating the Scores page on the Epyx Shrine. due the lack of score submissions I decided to give-up on recording them on my own, but rather just sort of mirror the current TG scores for the Epyx games and send people your way. The only thing I'm currently concerned about his how I can keep my page updated without checking the complete TG database every week... You don't offer customized displays or something like that, which people could merge into their hompages? Greetings, Manuel
  8. First, there is 6 disciplines listed, when the game only has 4. Then, both the disciplines "Footbag" & "Hacky Sack", which in my eyes should refer to one and the same discipline, feature each a high score from Ron Corcoran. Now, if that wasn't strange enough having two different names for the same discipline, how can one and the same guy submit scores for each? Different scores BTW... ?!? Greetings, Manuel
  9. Hi there! It's getting really odd now. I just checked the scores for Pitstop on the Coleco: Pitstop Grand/Pro / Coleco 1. 318,000 Alan Hewston Pitstop Grand/Rookie / Coleco 1. 318,000 James Carter 2. 53,000 Stephen Knox Pitstop Grand/Semi-Pro / Coleco 1. 318,000 Alan Hewston 2. 267,000 Stephen Knox 3. 53,000 Ron Corcoran :ponder: [email protected] / [email protected]? Greetings, Manuel
  10. Huhu!
  11. Hi there! Try this: Go to the scoreboard search-engine and do a query for California Games with 2600 filter. Huh ?!? Greetings, Manuel
  12. Maybe that's too easy a solution, but how about Search & Replace "LF" with "LD" in one of the files for example? Greetings, Manuel
  13. Hi there! I just noticed that this is already released in the U.S. Can anyone comment on it and/or compare it to the old Amiga version? Greetings, Manuel
  14. Hm.... I jut checked screenshots... Star Wars - disqualified The Empire Strikes Back - disqualified Return of the Jedi - disqualified Tunnel Hunt - promising Tailgunner - disqualified Star Hawk - disqualified Space Seeker - uncertain Buck Rogers: Planet of Zoom - disqualified Gravitar - disqualified Liberator - promising Star Trek - disqualified Tac/Scan - disqualified Ambush - uncertain Blaster - uncertain Exerion - uncertain Star Luster - promising Time to fire up MAME again... Greetings, Manuel
  15. Hi Zero! Oh, you're right. But then I normally don't count SC games as valid 2600 games You're right about Elite. And with Rescue on Fractalus you're traveling in an earth bound vehicle, or? Disqualifies as space game then On MAME.DK I just found a list of recommandations for Star Fire players: Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back Return of the Jedi Tunnel Hunt Tailgunner Star Hawk Space Seeker Buck Rogers: Planet of Zoom Gravitar Liberator Star Trek Tac/Scan Ambush Blaster Exerion Star Luster Seems like Im gonna check these out next, one by one... Greetings, Manuel
  16. Hi Finguzz! Well, unlike all those big companies keep pretending, the bit # doesn't really matter for the graphics quality. Consider that even the original PC-Engine is runned by an 8-Bit processor. Responsible for the graphics quality is mostly the graphics chip. And here, the 2600 has one of the weakest available Greetings, Manuel
  17. All that is true for Starmaster as well. Except it didn't utilize the the pads, but the console switches. Maybe this helps: Star Raiders: Starmaster: I'd almost guess Starmaster. Star Raiders sucks! Greetings, Manuel
  18. Hi there! I've just beaten Crash Bandicoot XS. It's really ok. If you liked Warioland 4, you should definetely give Crash a try, too! If you don't count Castlevania as pure Jump'n'Run, then Crash is the best J'n'R I played on the GBA so far. Greetings, Manuel
  19. Solaris? (But that's a bit younger )
  20. What, no contest? Hehe Can't wait to see what cool designs Christiana will submit for the Robot City contest Greetings, Manuel
  21. Hi there! For research purposes regarding improvements of my Star Fire game, I'm researching all about this type of game. Especially I'm looking for other *comparable* games for 8-Bit machines. So far I've completed the research on the VCS and the C64 on my own, here's the resulting Top 5s! : Atari 2600: Starmaster Star Raiders Star Ship Star Voyager Star Wars C64: Fire Storm Sky Fox 2 Star Fox Space Hunter Quest for the Space Beagle For the Atari 8 bitters I got a few suggestions already, but there might be better ones: Star Fire, Star Raiders, Star Wars, Star Raiders 2 & Star Riders Ok, what I'm looking for is this: 1st person cockpit view space shooters in arcade style, done with sprite graphics, not vectors. I'm looking for more suggestions on the Atari 8-Bit computers, as well as any other 8-Bit computer or cosole, plus early - let's say pre '86 arcades, with that certain kind of gameplay. Greetings, Manuel
  22. Hi Avram! Thanks for sugesting these! I just finished checking them all. The top 5 Atari 8-Bit Star Fire lookalikes so far are: Star Fire Star Raiders Star Wars Star Raiders 2 Star Riders I especially liked the 'firing' animation in Star Raiders. Hm... are there tools available that allow ripping sprite graphics on the 8 bitters? I think I'll continue the research part in the classic forum now... Greetings, Manuel
  23. Yes. Erik was still working on it. With this current version he decided it's time for the feature-stop. From now on, he'll only bugfix the game, so he's waiting for feedback regarding that. He's especially looking for feedback how the PAL version is looking/working on the real thing, since he can't test this on his own. Since YOU are the the beta testers it'll depend on YOUR feedback/bugtracking when the game will be done, so the more you support Erik in the process, the quicker you get the game BTW: Can't wait to see the label artwork, as I'm expecting a masterpiece here Greetings, Manuel
  24. Hi Thomas! If the game is still Greetings, Manuel
  25. Hehe, it's optimal to have it compile. But it doesn't work As far as I can see it, either LOCATE, PRINT or the second FOR destroys the outer FOR...NEXT loop? Uhm... how would I safely work with nested loops? Hey, to me it's fun to toy around with 5200BAS, even though it's giving me a hard time! Greetings, Manuel
