Allergy Attack of 2010
Cybergoth commented on Random Terrain's blog entry in Random Terrain's Tetraternarium
The problem with most anti-allergic medicine, especially histamine blockers, is that they make you even more tired. A new tactic I've been trying lately is taking them before I go to sleep anyway, but I'm uncertain of the result as of yet -
Of course, cities 4 and 5 had dungeons as well. Still, within 5 days I only managed to beat the first two quests, so basically 99% of the time I spent with the game were character management and over 200 random encounters. That's fun for a while, but overall I've really been missing a good story. Like with the first game of the series, I think I only scratched the surface, seeing less than a tenth of the games content. So maybe the main storyline would unfold later in the game, while I've just been stuck in an enhanced game mechanics tutorial Some future day the "Playing..." series may see its sequel "Might & Magic III", but first it'll continue with something else.

Beyond awesome! ;) So it's really going to be at least a trilogy I think, since all the footage in that trailer seem to be based on "water". (The bad news about that is that we won't get to see Toph this time )
-
True. Your argument of Nintendo having a "historic hostility toward the RPG genre" doesn't make much sense either though, considering that Nintendo created some of the best RPG series of all time, be it Fire Emblem, Mother, Paper Mario, Mario & Luigi or Golden Sun.

Hehe While I'm having your attention, did you see "How to Train your Dragon" already? I really enjoyed it. I'd even go so far to think it's been the best Animation I've seen since The Incredibles

Whoa! I was only browsing for upcoming Wii games, when I saw a title "The Last Airbender" listed on play.com. Could this really mean...?!? Some quick check vs. YouTube revealed the absolute sensation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9W1dhqc-JBs I'm hyped as hell now. Is it the beginning of a trilogy? Who'll play Toph? They better not make her any less awesome than this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xm4vHqK3N-Y Greetings, Manuel

The makers of Disaster can do no wrong on the Wii. This'll be a blind buy for me once it arrives in the west

When visiting the third city tonight, I was already expecting yet another dungeon underneath There's been some very tough battles in the previous dungeon which I had no chance in succeeding - my whole party got slaughtered before I even had a turn I'm not sure if I'm just too weak for these right now, or if I'm missing something essential for the moment.
-
Continuing after a day off, tonight I completed the first dungeon. It's right under the city where you start. In the city you also get your first two quests, which both send you into this dungeon, nothing special. After that I teleported to the next city. It seems there's a dungeon underneath as well. Overall it's starting to get a bit repetitive, especially when there's little to no story happening and 80% of the time are battle encounters. They are fun, but well, repetitive.

No matter how often I click it away, the calendar will return after a while. Right now it won't go away at all...

I reworked my wishlist once again, thinning it out a bit. It's been motivated by the announcement of Captivate 2010 and their unannounced Wii titles in the works: 1. A new game playing in the G'n'G universe, be it a 20th anniversary sequel to Super Ghouls'n'Ghosts or a sequel to Demon's Crest. 2. Breath of Fire VI. Please, this great series can impossibly end with the weird Dragon Quarter spin-off. I want a regular JRPG styled sequel to the marvellous 4th part of the series. Turn Based! 3. Resident Evil 5. Still a must, really! I can play all 6 major games on my Wii and I want to play 5 as well dammit! Just port it into the RE4 engine, that's still better than most other Wii games anyway. 4. Zack & Wiki 2. I sooo loved the first one, pleeease make a sequel Capcom! Utilizing WM+ certainly! 5. Onimusha 5. My favourite game series from Capcom. Oh how I want a sequel to Onimusha 3, with Samonosuke and Jean Reno.

Hi there! This is looking great: Greetings, Manuel

It just happened again. Maybe I shouldn't post new entries on the odd numbered days of the month?
-
I just checked my GameStar mags. It entered their reader Top 20 on #7 and stayed for 8 months in there, albeit mostly residing below the Top 10. I think that's a yes then, it was somewhat popular here. I've never played one myself, but I know that my wife loved the first, I think she's still playing it occasionally. BTW: Marc Oberhäuser was part of the development team of the series

Hi there! Since the last report I saw quite a few high profile games, so let's jump into the action quickly! The list of games I'm done with: Zelda TP, Excite Truck, Metal Slug Anthology, Geometry Wars, Bully , Zack & Wiki , SMG, Disaster , MP 3 , Fire Emblem , de Blob, Lego Indiana Jones, No More Heros , MadWorld, Wario Land, RE4, RE:UC, Another Code , Cursed Mountain , MP Trilogy, RE: DC, Firefighter, Dead Space , Muramasa, TvsC New entries in my Wii collection: Silent Hill - Shattered Memories => A good game with very good graphics and controls and even better audio. The story left me mostly in the cold though, even though the ending did surprise me. A keeper, but no must have. FFCC: The Crystal Bearers => The game is ruined by one of the worst combat systems I've seen on the Wii. I hope I'll never have to fight with telekinesis ever again. Too bad for the otherwize very high production values - I really wanted to like this one. Little Kings Story => This was fun in small doses. Most days I put it onto the "for sale" stack after playing, only to insert it back into the Wii the next day. After 14 days and as many hours the stack won though Red Steel 2 => Good graphics, great audio, great scenery, good action so far. I'm 3 hours into the campaign and like what I see. A word of warning though, which I didn't see in any review so far: The game has no option to swap hands for left-handed players. It is playable with the sword in the left hand, but some moves, e.g. like the overhead block for "red" attacks don't work for me ========================================== My current shopping list: Overlord Dark Legend => Ah well, still waiting for the price to drop. I've all the time in the world... Fragile Dreams => This looks like having outstanding storytelling and a unique atmosphere. An absolute must have for me! Sin & Punishment 2 => The only addition this time. It looks brilliant and I've been a Treasure fan for ages now ========================================== My future Hopelist: Samurai Heroes 3 => Hehe, Thank heavens Capcom Japan starts delivering again, putting an end to all the trash releases that the hopeless American office was cranking out... Tales of Graces => Being a mothership title of a major series, this should finally end the RPG draught on the Wii, shouldn't it? Metroid Other M => All I've seen or heard from this game so far was great, I can't wait to play this sure-fire masterpiece. Enclave => Okay so it's another XBOX conversion. Here's hope it'll become a very good one though The Tower of Shadow => Could this be a really good game or is it just some more gimmicky toying with a physics engine? No More Heroes 2 => I really should've listed this one earlier, but it's such an obivous choice Greetings, Manuel

Call me weird, but I just decided to not buy Monster Hunter. I'm just not interested in Online gaming. Man vs. Machine - that's me!

The Hardy Boys and Calling came out here by now, so I added them as new poll choices. (Fragile ended straight on my shopping list already )

Why is here a scrollbar, comments should by default fit automatically I think:
-
Why is the image here resized to 94% when it would easily fit?
-
Phew... while the graphics were changed in this sequel, the insane difficulty level of the predecessor wasn't. So while playing over three hours tonight, I was only able to examine about one third of the first dungeon I must admit that it was still fun though

I really don't know where to start. It begins that when you just open my blog overview there's at least 3-4 broken images on every single page of it and ends with missing alt attributes in the editor, so that for most of the buttons there I don't even know what they're doing. Inbetween are the functions where I have an idea how they should work, but usually do something else, e.g. the old "sort by last activity" problem. There's other stuff like the layout being all over the place, which may be due to the 1024*768 resolution or using Opera, whatever. Plus all the stuff I already reported before. Instead of having us file tons of bug reports, how if the programmers would test their software for an hour or two themselves before delivering it? Most of the stuff is totally obvious. How can't 95% of the damn thing not just plain and simple work exactly like the entire rest of their software?!? E.g. right here I don't need to extra enable smilies every time I edit something, the sorting is perfect, when I pin something it goes to the top, etc... Add in other stupidity like the forced "uncategorized" category for every entry I don't categorize (not to mention the unwanted category to tag merger which I corrected manually by now.), non-removable tags, the odd name-disappearing bug that Nathan posted a screenshot of and a lot of other things I'm just forgetting because I'm probably slowly getting used to them. In summary, the blog module from 2 versions before was still much better than the current one.

Hi there! Ah, this sure looks miles better than the first Might & Magic: Good to see that New World computing did their homeworks in the art department. There's only one year between the first two games of the series, but the difference is amazing. This entry in the "Playing..." series nails another two firsts: This is not only the first time ever I'm playing a real sequel to a game featured previously, but it's also the first Super Nintendo game. I've been jumping a bit into the cold water with this one, since unlike usually with such complex RPGs, I did not read the manual first. I thought after playing the first game already and with the controller being limited to just four buttons I should be able to handle it on my own So far this first night has been good. Just as with the first game, I expectedly spent the time almost exclusively with "staying alive" and levelling up my characters, so now they can move some squares around without dying. The graphics are superb and so is the audio. The controls are smooth and not overly complex or tedious, so I think it's safe to say that trying the SNES version was a very good idea. In case you've been wondering about the screenshot above, yes, there's indeed a german translation available Wish me luck when I'm descending into the first dungeon tomorrow... Greetings, Manuel
