  1. Strange enough, I have Starcraft and Warcraft 3 originals, but never played them. I think my computer was too slow when I bought Starcraft and then I just forgot about it. And I don't even remember buying Warcraft 3. Maybe I picked it up on a flea market... I must admit that I'm missing a couple of features from later RTS games, like double clicking on a unit to select all of that type or assigning groups to keys. Even just having groups larger than 4 units would actually help it But well, it's not that big a game and I quickly loose control in these games anyways. And RTS games will never get as good as turn based strategy games anyway ========== Okay, of course after a good nights sleep the sixth orc mission was quickly done. Already knowing the map, esp. the mine and bridge locations sure helps a lot The 7th was more of the same and I beat it on my first try, so I guess It's either me improving or an easier mission Mission 8 was yet another one without a base. I don't like those 'special' missions too much, but well, they definitely inject some variety into a campaign. Occasionally some of them are really good, e.g. who doesn't remember the Tanya missions from Red Alert? Well this one was okay. I failed the first try, but then made it through
  2. Oh, and I thought this is an article about Stripped http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y869l-35JLQ
  3. Oha, that sixth orc mission sure is a tough one. I've been playing it for three hours straight tonight, not succeeding thus far. But tomorrow I will, for sure!
  4. Hi there! Interplaying Warcraft - Orcs & Humans (1994): Okay, featuring this one within Interplaying is debatable, but Interplay did publish this one in Germany After a series of SNES games (Lost Vikings, Rock'n'Roll Racing, ...), Blizzards first totally PC centric development helped establishing the RTS genre which was kickstarted by Herzog 2 and further advanced by Dune 2 before. Laying foundation to the fantasy universe that should evolve into "World of Warcraft" a decade down the road, this was the first game playing in the world Azeroth, with players taking part in an epic battle between humans and orcs. It already shares a lot of features with later installments of the series: The game is divided into a human and an orc campaign, you're building settlements in order to feed & train troops and to forge & upgrade weapons, all powered by harvested wood and gold. Even the magic users and their spells are already in the game. I never played this one back in the day, entering the series straight with Warcraft 2, so it's really surprising to see how much of it is already there in Orcs & Humans and how familiar it looks and feels. Mostly the movies are missing and the story is told with plain text briefings between missions. This time I did all technical homework first. I had the game already setup and running when starting tonight, so it's not too surprising that I managed to play the first 5 missions of the Orc campaign in a single session. Four of them were regular base building missions, the other was some kind of vendetta, where I had to locate and kill the rogue daughter of an orc leader. Looking forward to carry on tomorrow! Version Played: Abandonware, from "Abandonia". How to Run: I'm using DOSBox (max speed), for convenience and soundcard support. IP Status: Wholly owned by Blizzard certainly. Greetings, Manuel
  5. Carry on Whining Capcom, I'm not going to buy this one either: http://wiiware.nintendolife.com/reviews/2010/01/phoenix_wright_ace_attorney
  6. Hi there! Just found this one: http://www.interplay.com/about/article.php?id=39 Greetings, Manuel
  7. Is that in the states? In the Uk it's ranked #3 in the preorder chart of play.com: http://www.play.com/Games/Wii/6-/PreOrderChart.html On German Amazon it's #6.
  8. You're sure? I didn't even know that vgchartz was tracking that number. I was actually going by the Wikipedia here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_video_games And they're referencing Nintendo themselves as source for that info. 400 million half a year later sounds totally plausible to me.
  9. Thanks for finally fixing this. This feeling of being lobotomized disappeared and I'm connected to the world again
  10. It's silly yes. Kinda the same with Wii Play. (Albeit where draw the line? What with the games bundled with WM+? Links Crossbow Training? Mario Kart?)
  11. Nonsense. Packed in games aren't counted for this kind of game sales.
  12. This year I've already finished Darkside Chronicles and Dead Space Extraction. Considering that I love Resident Evil and that I'm generally a total Capcomaniac and actually really, really, really hate Electronic Arts - I still must say that Dead Space Extraction is by far a much better game! I'd even go so far and recommend it! :-o
  13. There you go, buy a copy of The Munchables or Tornado Outbreak. And there's more where they come from
  14. People often tend to forget that Nintendo is also the best games developer on the planet. Unlike any other past or present competitor they can carry a console on their own.
  15. They probably will be too busy counting the cash from Street Fighter IV that sold almost 3 million copies at $59.99, if they ever get done counting the cash from the 5+ million copies of Resident Evil 5 that sold. Seeing how Capcoms last two major HD titles apparently are giant, developer killing flops, I think it's proven that the HD fad is finally over. If you deliver a PS3 or X360 with 3 games to gamestop, you can get a Black Wii + Resort Bundle for a symbolic $1 Twilight is brilliant and I'll be first in line to buy the Wii version of "Scene It? Twilight".
  16. I wonder if Capcom will change their hardcore strategy again in 4 weeks, when Dark Void failed even worse than Bionic Commando? Will they blame all the apparently non-gaming HD customers for not buying it? And will Airtight die just like Grin?
  17. LOL I almost stopped reading at this point because I recalled your past comments.... That's my personal view of it, yes. I've always been in a minority with this though, even in that old thread I didn't add Ghostbusters to my shopping list. It got reviewed in "Wii Magazin 7/2009" here, with a score of 78%. The same issue also had Muramasa (88%), Dead Space Extraction (81%) and Rabbids Go Home (84%) and so I added these to my shopping list instead. I bought action games with a less than 80% "Wii Magazin" score before, like Force Unleashed, Death Jr. or Deadly Creatures, but usually got disappointed from these.
  18. Does it make sense when considering that the Wii got the kiddie version of the game, while the others got the real thing? And that Sony bought a timed excluse deal from Atari in Europe? (That's also if you wondered how the PS3 version managed to outsell the 360...) If you're looking at a game that isn't significantly crippled on the Wii and that also got a simultaneous release, like e.g. Mini Ninjas, then the Wii comes out on top. And Bionic Commando could've been the Punch-Out for the PS360? Really, some games just fail. Two of my favourite Wii games from Nintendo(!), Another Code and Disaster, moved ~30K each according to vgchartz. (Okay, they're not tracking the European sales for these.)
  19. Yes Cybergoth, you make an excellent point and I see you are finally understanding. Usually when a unit DOMINATES the market in units sold, it sells significantly more copies of games, the Wii however, does not. Simple as that. Perfect example thanks. Not sure if I'm getting you though, since the PSP has a higher market share than the PS3 or the 360 have.
  20. BTW: Did anyone else notice that GTA Chinatown Wars sold thrice as many copies on the DS than on the PSP? So the DS apparently is the mature handheld and the PSP the kiddie / aunt selma portable of choice?
  21. So your point is it sold like crap because of the low ratings? Bad quality games usually don't sell, yes. That actually sounds pretty good for an M-Rated black & White gorefest. It apparently outsold all of Clovers previous PS2 productions, Viewtiful Joe, God Hand and Okami and that even though the Wii install base is probably still smaller than the PS2s at their heyday. Name just one console based point & click adventure game that sold more copies. This sounds also pretty high for a lightgun game. But well, let's compare. What's the highest selling PS360 lightgun game again? Can't be that many Aunt Selmas and kids amongst them then But seriously, games do flop occasionally, even good ones. Okay, let me see a real big budget AAA game fail on the Wii first. One that's comparable with Fallout 3, Resident Evil 5, Uncharted or Bayonetta. One that gets the full blown advertising campaign, with cinema and TV spots and whatnot. Then you can talk. Because they can't: Neopets, MotoGP and Spybrogs combined didn't sell more copies than Zack & Wiki. With Sonic aside, Segas three bestselling 2009 Wii games actually were Overkill, MadWorld and The Conduit. All their other titles (Virtua Tennis 2009, Daisy Fuentes Pilates, Puyo Puyo 7, Wacky World of Sports, Planet 51) did worse. => Jambo! Safari Animal Rescue sold 20K! Dead Space Extraction actually did better than Littlest Pet Shop: Friends, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, MySims Party, Charm Girls Club: Pajama Party, SimAnimals Africa for Electronic Arts in 2009. None of them ever seriously bothered to try. They're just pissed now that their shovelware doesn't sell anymore. The little Marvellous Entertainment has a better Wii lineup than EA, Ubisoft, Take 2, Atari, THQ, Square and Sega combined, They're just lacking the marketing force to push their gems like Nintendoes.
  22. After being burned 2-3 times by shit video games like Carnival Games, they apparently could care less about buying more shovelware. Instead your not existing Wii video gamers invested into 20 Million copies of Mario Kart and 10 Million copies of NSMBW. Poor 3rd party developers. Their shovelware trash is dying on the shelf. Poor Ubisoft. No Babyz and Petz and Imagine salez. Poor EA. No MySims and Petshop and GI Joe sales. Poor Capcom. No Neopets, MotoGP and Spyborgs sales. And look how good their Dragon Age, Assasins Creed and Resident Evil 5 sell on the HDs. I really wonder why Maybe the Wii audience just isn't that dumb after all? Maybe those company execs didn't notice that the shovelware goldrush is already over? How on earth dare they blaming us customers for not buying their shit?
  23. Hopefully it'll do better than SoulCalibur Legends did for Namco. All those millions of Wii's in consumers living rooms and only 0.16 in sales. SoulCalibur Legends has a Metascore of 54...
  24. That's just your opinion. The bit about the graphics is just my opinion yes (I forgot to say that underneath the different art-style it's (also IMO) just a second rate Zelda clone ), but the control issues should be instantly reproducable by everyone. While I've mastered Wii controls in over 40 titles, Okami is still about the only one where I thought the controls actually ruined the game. (I've seen other silly stuff like the waggle-jump in de Blob, but at least it worked...) I really wanted my money back, but I'm not saying it couldn't be fun for others. If you really think you might like it, you should get it. ( => for the PS2! )
  25. Okami Wii is rushed garbage, I've yet to see a game with worse Wii controls. I found it totally insulting when the controls were actually the only spot they had to put some effort into and none of it worked. I think I once spent 15 minutes just to erase a monster from a list and I don't think a single drawing magic worked on the first try during the 15 hours I sank into it. Add in incredible tiresome waggle combat. That's not even considering the pig-ugly "this is art" graphics, which probably made most gamers avoid it on the PS2 originally...
