  1. New and sealed Ms. Pac-Man, Pengo, Pitfall and Solo Flight from Venezuela. Nice stamps! Luckily customs hasn't opened boxes.
  2. Ah, that's why my player0 continually changes colors when player1 moves vertically!
  3. Another easy way to use the new std_kernel.asm is to just copy it in the same directory as your .bas file. bB will use asm files in this directory before the official ones. I prefer this method, as it keeps the official bB dir clean. Exactly what I have done, thanks to your previous teachings (if this kernel solves my priority problem, I need an updated version to fix bB PAL50 "less than 312 scanlines bug"!). The problem is that I don't know what to change exactly in my program. I don't undertand perfectly Michael's words: If you define a constant named player0colors, the player1color table will be used for player0 instead of for player1. If you're also using the playercolors option, player0's color will be used for player1. In other words, the color control for player0 and player1 will be swapped.
  4. Thanks Michael. I hope Fred will add to next bB's version the option to have a multicolor player0. Regarding your workarounds, the first one is too complicated and with the second I lose another missile. The third one could be a good solution but I need more explanations. I understood that I have to use your updated kernel. But exactly what do I have to change in my program? I have the kernel option player1colors.
  5. Is it possible to have player0 behind player1? It seems a stupid question, but in bB if you want only one multicolor sprite, this sprite is player1. I need the multicolor sprite in front of the other singlecolor sprite.
  6. If you like Atari 8-bit computers and you know Italian: www.santellocco.com/atari
  7. Short Circuit... ehm... Robix is my preferred game too. I gave it a 10. Now that coders don't have deadlines, the game could be improved (title screen, empty sky...).
  8. I've just received it. As written before, I think this easy to install, small (it is smaller than it seems in photos) and cheap expansion will greatly increase Atari 320KB users base. High-end software productions can take advantage of this.
  9. Hey, your 800XL has a black scratch on the bottom! Clean it now!
  10. I attach a .zip file with Turbo-Basic XL v1.5 and docs. Turbo Basic XL 1.5.zip
  11. My cousin drew a Renault 5 GT turbo (my car at the time) in 1989, pixel by pixel, on Amiga. Would someone like to convert it to Amiga's father?
  12. Is it normal that when I turn on my 800XL (I added Basic rev. C and wired 2 pins to have s-video output) the screen is red for less than a second? The computer seems to work perfectly.
  13. I have just received Retrogamer Videogames Hardware Handbook Vol. 2: https://www.imagineshop.co.uk/bookazines/videogames-and-retro/videogames-hardware-handbook-vol-2.html If you remember, Vol. 1 was highly criticized because Atari 8-bit computers (milestones in 1979) and other important computers and consoles were missing. In fact these bookazines are compilations of previous issues of Retrogamer magazine so, after other Retrogamer magazine hardware articles, we have now another book that completes the first one. I think these two books are worth their price (250 pages, £9.99).
  14. Regarding voting fairness, I don't know how other people vote. The range is from 1 to 10. I always use a range from 6 (to appreciate programmers work) to 10 but someone could for example give 1s and 10s to make his vote count more. Perhaps it would be better to give 10 to the preferred program, 9 to the second and so on. I don't know. Anyway, long life to beautiful ABBUC's contest!
  15. Very nice game, Jason. Your programming's skill has improved very much. I think it didn't deserve last position. Now that you don't have deadlines, perhaps you could refine it (f.e. improve character's graphics and death sequence). PS In your website, use this link to Altirra'a emulator: http://www.virtualdub.org/altirra.html instead of linking an old AA thread.
  16. I love Corina cart, especially save-state and real time clock features.
  17. Best Electronics sells reconditioned 1050 disk drives: Tandon and World storage versions. Differences? Which one should you buy?
  18. As sloopy wrote, 800XL and 130XE are either good machines. My two cents: Cart port position: 800XL Design: 800XL and 130XE are both beautiful and original, it's a matter of taste. Keyboard: it's a matter of taste but you must consider that 5 kind of keyboards exists for 800XL (in only three years lifespan!) and, if I am not wrong, at least 2 kinds for 130XE. Memory: 130XE has 128KB instead of 64KB, usuful for few games (but now AA user ctirad sells an external 320KB low cost memory expansion for 800XL) Video ouput: 130XE has also s-video (but with a simple jumper 800XL can have s-video too, but with a bit lower quality) Quality: 800XL has a better building quality. Moreover, some XL's have all ICs socketed, so they are easier to repair and upgrade. Basic: 130XE has bug free Basic rev. C (but you can replace 800XL Basic rev. B IC with a rev. C - anyway, if you like Basic programming, nowadays everyone uses the fast, compatible and compilable Turbo-Basic XL so Basic's revision is unimportant).
  19. Nice intros Heaven. #38 (Atari bus) is nice too.
  20. I have just received an email from him because I want to buy another SIO2SD. 40 euro unassembled without SIO port (he doesn't have them but you can buy them from Best Electronics, $5). I don't know the actual price of an assembled unit (was $50 when I bought it years ago).
  21. True, although that's something of a plus for some people who need a deadline or they'll never get something done [points to self =-] True, however, look at Crownland in 2007. AFAIK they said it has so few levels and this and that because of the deadline. And if i wouldhave something ready in January I couldn't wait. Would feel the urge to show it to people. But this is all good and fine. We can't change it and it shouldn't be changed. If there would be two competitions a year, each would have only 1 good game and the price money would have to be halfed as well. I think ABBUC contest cannot be different. Programs are previously released to members, so a deadline is necessary. However, programs can always be updated after ABBUC's release. For example, wonderful Yoomp! has been upgraded to v1.1 after 2007 ABBUC contest. Another 2007 ABBUC contest entry, Crownland (awesome), can be updated without problems, if coders want.
  22. Add SIO2SD http://marcinprusisz.pl/ (AtariAge user Pigula, $50 without case) SIO2USB http://home.arcor.de/grasel/sio2usb_e.htm (130-150 euro, I don't know if it is still available)
  23. Hi Diggerbonk. Glad you joined us! Thanks for your work. I bought Droid2600 and I have Droid800. Unfortunately these apps (and others emulators too) need high-end devices to run at full speed.
