  1. Good idea. Here is what I do. With BBK Artist, I load an Antic 4 font found in Touch Edit II or another one found in Atari 8-bit forever site, I write the text, I save a screenshot with Atari800WinPlus, I load it in PS, I halve horizontal size, I copy and past the text into my 160x192 picture.
  2. If you mean how to have 2 pixel wide brush, you have to go in the Image/Pixel something (I don't know the exact words because I use Italian version) menu and set a factor of 2. My problem is that I can use many Windows standard fonts but it is impossible to use little sizes because of the 2 pixel wide pixels.
  3. I draw graphics 15 screens with Photoshop and I convert them to Atari .mic format with G2F. Does someone have a Windows font (or a tip) to insert little letters (Atari standard font or similar) in this 2 pixel wide graphic mode? Now I draw them pixel by pixel!
  4. The song is "Forest.cmc", present on the CMC disk; I am not an expert but it seems to use all voices. Yes and yes (but there are not many words to translate).
  5. With your changes the routine works very well in TBXL! The routine works also with the PMG ML routine I use and with GR.15 screen mode. I also have found that it works with my SOUND 0 sound effects; I don't have to stop music when I want to make a sound effect. Strange but perfect. Do you know why? And now... the second big question. Perhaps you know that I have made Cookie Monster, a simple educational game for my daughter: http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=123634 Can you write a background music for it? I think this one, or something that children could appreciate, would be perfect: P.S. I hope you will not play Blip! with your kid too soon, it's hypnotic!
  6. I lived this moment nine months ago! Good luck!
  7. This post have given me the inspiration to try to add music to my games. As Marius said, it is possible to insert Chaos Music Composer music in Basic (and also in TBXL). You have only to insert this code found in the CMC disk: 6000 BGET=ADR("hÿÿ Á—©R¥ÔiT¥Õi U©X© Y¢ Vä0) ±ÔTHȱÔU…Õh…Ô© X©àY¢ VäÀˆð ˜© …Ô…Õ`Ì") 6010 DIM F$(20) 6020 F$="D:FOREST.CMC":GOSUB 6130 6030 CMC=A:IF CMC=0 THEN STOP 6040 F$="D:MUSIC.REP":GOSUB 6130 6050 REP=A:IF REP=0 THEN STOP 6060 A=USR(REP,1,CMC) 6080 IF PEEK(764)=255 THEN 6080 6090 POKE 764,255 6100 A=USR(REP) 6110 END 6130 POKE 764,32:OPEN #1,4,128,F$ 6140 A=USR(BGET) 6150 POKE 764,255:CLOSE #1 6160 RETURN Here are my questions: - what is the code in line 6000 and is it possible to replace it with a TBXL command (perhaps BLOAD or BGET)? - how do I stop/pause/restart music? - "forest.cmc" is the music, what is "music.rep"? - what's the purpose of lines 6030,6050,6080?
  8. Thanks but I am in good physical shape. Yesterday I have played a football match scoring an header's goal! Before 1541 Ultimate, I was interested in 1541-III. Unfortunately at the time it was impossible to buy it because the author had no time to build more units after the first orders. Now I read that he will build again units for those who are unable to build one themselves. Have you tested this device? Compatibility level?
  9. Awesome work! Yes, Holmes site is not working: http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?s...4&hl=holmes Here are Holmes CDs: http://mega-mania.org/holmes/
  10. I haven't tested 1941 Ultimate but yes, I think we can say that now it's just as easy to transfer files for either machines but for the C64 you have to spend near 4 times more.
  11. I would have written: Resolution: max 320x192 Palette: 256 colors It is important to mention palette because many computers of the time were monochromatic or with a small palette (for example C64, 1982, had only a 16 colors palette).
  12. i never said he should did i, in fact i never even said he should get a C64 either - you seem to be confusing me with someone else. It's just everso slightly annoying that now theres a solution for the C64 that can actually match the Atari devices it just seems like people here are jumping on any reason to give it a kicking; it comes across as very insecure. And if you're going to write off a solution purely because it's more expensive (especially when that solution does so much more for that price that anyone, noob or otherwise, can use) then the Sinclair Spectrum was cheaper than the C64 or Atari 8-bit so perhaps he should get one of those instead. I am not confusing you with someone else; you never said the topic starter should buy a C64 and I never said that. I have said it is easier to transfer files to Atari and you have replied that three devices do pretty much the same thing. As I have explained, the first 2 devices you have mentioned don't do the same thing. The third device do the same things and others but it is not cheap. That's all. I think it's you that are confusing me with someone else. I like 1941 Ultimate, I have waited for a similar solution for many years (I have bought MMC64 and 64HDD), when I have known about it I have posted a message in an Italian C64 forum, in the future perhaps I'll buy it; I don't give it a kick at all!
  13. TMR, it is a fact that if you want to perfectly simulate C64's disk drive you have to spend €119; moreover 1541 Ultimate is a product released only few months ago. Yes, you are right, the question was about accessibility rather than cost but I don't think the topic starter ("a super noob like me") would love to spend this amount of money just to play all beautiful C64 games. 1541 Ultimate has many interesting features but C64 doesn't have simple and cheap devices like Atari.
  14. MMC2IEC Limitations: No fast loader support. None of the Commodore DOS functions beside LOAD and SAVE works. Few, if any, D64 games with loaders work. 1541 Ultimate Price: €119 64TPC If you are talking about 64HDD, I have it: awful compared to SIO2PC (also usb, nice GUI, Vista compatible) SIO2PC and SIO2SD cost around $50 and have no limitations.
  15. I agree with Oswald that, if you are interested in games, C64 has the larger library. Regarding accessibility, Atari computers have many games on cartridges and it is easier to transfer programs from PC (SIO2PC also USB and Vista compatible) or use a stand-alone solution (SIO2SD).
  16. Right. For me 128KB and s-video quality are important so... I vote for 130XE. As storage device, I use SIO2PC (usb version) and SIO2SD (a stand-alone solution that replaces floppy disks with an SD card).
  17. Thank you very much. Having seen your hard work in the last months (years), having seen the beautiful artwork done by various artists, I am sure your game will be wonderful. Moreover, I think that your engine could be used to make other games. Perhaps not Robotron, but if it will be fast enough not only RPG could be done.
  18. Excellent and faaaaaaaaaaaaaaast! With your engine you can program many games!
  19. I remember an Apple II clone called Lemon...
  20. Excellent! Is it possible to insert CMC songs in Turbo-Basic XL? In the Holmes files I have found various versions: 2.0, 2.0s, 2.0+, 3.0; what are the differences?
  21. If someone want to make a t-shirt like mine, here is Atari logo and here is font (SF Atarian System Bold). I can also send the Photoshop file. Nowadays there are many shops able to print perfectly our t-shirts. Tezz's t-shirt is beautiful; with that t-shirt you can recognize and meet AA users. Everyone of us should wear it!
  22. I am going on holidays and I have designed a simple t-shirt to wear with pride!
  23. No, it's an advanced flight simulator. The screenshot is taken a frame before crashing so the texture is zoomed.
