I found that an Atari screenshot is missing here: http://josef.havlik.sweb.cz/comparison.htm
It would be nice to honour World Trade centers victims with Atari too.
In fact I think it will suffice to go in edit mode and edit aircraft position.
I will ask to the owner of the page and I will do it.
The emulator should be set to NTSC mode and artifacts should be enabled.
I saw many screenshots and video without artifacts enabled.

Allan
Some days ago I saw ACE-80XL cart on sale, therefore I made some researches and wanted to try that 80 columns solution.
In fact I can confirm that not only you can dedicate an AtariMax cart but you can use a multicart too.
I tested the rom you can find below with AVG Cart.

Regarding 80 columns, what about using ACE80-XL cartridge?
It's very rare but everyone can put the attached rom on a multicart, no additional hardware is needed.
Otherwise there are software solutions, I think slower, like Easy 80 by Antic or Editor 80 by Atari Magazin (attached with instructions).
EDIT Updated ACE-80XL rom. Previous version didn't work on real hardware. The updated version works (tested with AVG Cart).
EDIT 2 Added ACE-80 manual and techical notes by @ClausB and @puppetmark.

I can confirm 1-7 and 11 exist along with Japan & the SF STAR disk. Disk 8 & 10 never made it to the c64 so I would hazard a guess they didn't come to the a8 either.
At Atarionline.pl Online you can find
*SAN FRANCISCO STAR (A more detailed San Francisco disk that is mainly for VFR flying)
*DISK 4 - Seattle / Klamath Falls / Great Falls
*DISK 13 - JAPAN

I found LA-Chicago-NY ATR too.
So, 4 ATR and 8 ATX so far.
Before my first post I read Farb's topic.
It would be nice to complete the collection.

How many scenery disks were released for A8?
I found only four.

I read that Elite is on the Guiness World Records because it has the record of being the most converted space trading videogame (I think official conversions).
I hope one day we'll see an A8 conversion too.

I dowloaded the game and donated as soon as it was released and played on real hardware.
After 72 hours almost 10000 people have downloaded it and £1100 has been raised for UNICEF.
Congratulations!
It would be nice to have an A8 version too.

After P I didn't see EE but Paperboy loads in 4 seconds (after insert game disappears) so I guess I updated.
-
I released L.E.M. for free and a boxed edition for collectors (with royalties devolved to AtariAge).
This is the solution I prefer but obviously not the best option to push sales.
Another solution could be to offer digital download and boxed edition (I prefer carts, especially if saves states or high score saving are added).
Eventually (after some years) the game could be released for free.

I think many people would be interested!
For example, on Facebook Steve spread the news 14 hours ago and a lot of comments and 51 likes appeared...
As MrFish wrote... I smell a final solution...

Big, directed by Penny Marshall (1943-2'18), is the first film directed by a woman to gross more than $100 million at the U.S. box office.

@adam1977, apart 16-directions movement, I think there aren't problems.
Service's direction and speed (5 options: inner/center/outer/hard/soft) could be based on stick's position. Better than Intellivision indeed.
Hard and soft swings could be based on stick's position (left/right) when fire button is pressed.
Ball's direction is based on when the ball is hit, so no problem in this respect.

In 2019 I gave a try to convert Intellivision Tennis but a good programmer with ball physics knowledge is necessary.
Intellivision Tennis (1980) by Gavin Claypool is one of the best tennis games of its era: forehand/backhand/ground/lob shots with direction based on when the ball is hit, 16-directions players movement, hard/soft/outer/center/inner services, faults/out of bounds, nets/lets, 3/5 sets with tie-breaks, court change.
Here's a video of 2013 homebrew version, that adds 1-player mode to original two players only version.

Ciao!

Hi!
Here's the short answer, for average users, without special needs or hardware add-ons.
First of all, A8 software is available in those formats:
ATR/ATX: files that are reproductions of floppy disks
XEX/COM: files that are reproductions of single executables
CAR/ROM/BIN: files that are reproductions of cartridges
CAS: files that are reproductions of tapes.
If you are interested in games, almost all are available in XEX/COM format. Some of them are available in ATR format only.
Therefore
- If you need to load ATR only games (download Homesoft collection with "Download all" button to find out which of the best games are ATR only) or applications, buy a SIO device (SIO2PC-USB if you have a nearby PC or an external SIO device if you want a stand-alone solution: SDrive-Max at the moment seems the best solution).
- If games only available on ATR format aren't important for you, if you like fast or instant load, if you like to play some cartridge format games that otherwise would need a memory expansion, buy a multicart (AVGCart at the moment seems the best solution: cheaper, has a limited ATR compatibility and disk swap button - developer is working on adding full ATR compatibility).
Regarding where to download games, the best repository of always updated and cleaned files is Homesoft (click on "Download all" button on the right). If you are interested on infos and manuals, check-out Atarimania.
At the end of point 4 of this topic's first post you can download a good collection of homebrew games.
More infos on points 2, 3 and 4 of this topic's first post.

Benvenuto! Prediligo i forum, meno dispersivi e ripetitivi, ma per le news sul mondo Atari puoi seguire Atari World Italia su Facebook (magari ne fai già parte...).

The 1-10 range in my opinion is a problem of ABBUC Software contest too.
I use the range 4-10 because I don't bash programmers that enters competition for fun. Someone else could be naughty and give 1 to poor games. Someone else could give 10 to his preferred game and 1 to other games to make his vote more "powerful".
I prefer KazKompo voting system, 10 votes to the best game, 9 to second, 8 to third and so on.

I don't think there's a loading device problem because it works with SIO2PC-USB and AVGCart; I could test other loading devices but I think they will surely load the game.
Works on my PAL 800XL (stock and with U1MB) and Jon's PAL 800 (or 800XL?) and 130XE.
At the moment the only real hardware problem reported is Faicuai 800 (I think NTSC) with Incognito.
-
Tested on PAL 800XL+U1MB (stock, 320K, 1088K) with AVGCart and SIO2PC-USB and it works.

SDrive-MAX and U1MB
in Atari 8-Bit Computers

With Lotharek's SIO splitter I connect to my U1MB 800XL RespeQt, disk drives and other devices, using original SIO cables.
I have some problem with one or two of my SDrive-Max because 3d printed SIO plug doesn't fit.
I don't know if SIO splitter is too tight or SIO plug too big.
