  1. I've been collecting seriously since 2001 which satifies your 4+ year patience principle, but I was still one of the high bidders on the Pepsi game. I guess my approach over this time has been akin to a dollar cost averaging strategy... I'm always buying what I need,,, sometimes I've bought high and sometimes I've bought low, but over the long haul and on average, I'm buying at a fair value... At least that's what I tell myself when I send those big Paypals. Another upside to the patient, long haul approach is that all the money I've spent on Atari 2600 is spread out over so many years that my wife can't trace it and over so many beers that I really can't remember missing it all that much.
  2. Yeah paperwork would be helpful. And since I actually have one that has paperwork and even the letters, I would say that I am not tripping to much over that statement. You do realize though that only four carts actually are known to exist that have the paperwork. Myself, Meanguns, 5thGhost, and some person Wonder007 has had contact with. Those are going to be pretty tricky to come by. I would really be suprised if more than 10 of these ever show up in our lifetime. By the way, I kind of feel sorry for Zeitshabba. That's gotta be huge let down. homerwannabee,,, Hypothetically speaking of course (and if not, please PM me),,, let's say you really needed some cash tomorrow to get a close family member bail money or let's say God spoke to you from a burning bush and told you to sell all your evil Atari 2600 games... How much would it take to separate you from your copy of Atlantis II with the all paperwork? You seem like a very straightforward and honest guy in these threads, so I just thought you might make for a good proxy on a "fair market value".
  3. I love Risk. Always have. Maybe someone could make it into a homebrew Atari 2600 game? That would be sweet.
  4. I just wanted to cross Exus off my list. That's it. And I'm a converted sniper... always will be. I used to bid early, and I lost a lot of money doing that... people I would outbid would just bid again, and again, and again and finally hit their absolute upper limit and still not out bid me... but all those extra bids cost me money. Not anymore !
  5. You guys could just let me buy it, and then I'd have a spare loose one for sale... I just need a box. That said though,,, this game is pretty easy to repro box
  6. I'll second that...I don't invest in collectibles...I just buy what I like. Whether it goes up or down in value doesn't really matter to me because I don't plan to sell the things I collect. I like playing the games, but I also like just admiring them Hmmm... my picture didn't work. Oh well, here's the link... http://www.indianahoosier.com/files/CommaVid.jpg

  8. I'm not sure where I got the Asterix... it was a while ago. But it's NTSC.
  9. I have a complete Mangia set, but the cart is PAL... I still need a loose Mangia NTSC to round it out someday. I noticed that atariage doesn't mention the PAL version game in the database, so I'm not sure how rare it is? They have a couple of entries in the PAL cart database. The Spectravision one is a 8, the Spectravideo one is a 7. http://www.retroreview.com/paldatabase/Sea...amp;SortBy=name Very nice listing of your collection by the way. I like the company logos above each listing, and it is an impressive collection. Are your Bomb carts NTSC? Did you go the usual route and get PAL boxes for some NTSC carts? The NTSC boxes seem hard to find. Bomb carts are scary to spend big bucks on as they seem to die unexpectedly. My Bombs are a mix actually, so I'll have to go back to my inventory page and better reflect what's in there... Now that I have experts looking at my page, it's highlighting some weaknesses in the way I list them... it used to be just for me (my own cheat sheet). I'm going to have to show the PAL/NTSC split more clearly. I've got 5 complete Bombs right now... 2 PAL and 3 NTSC. 1. Great Escape PAL CIB 2. Wall-Defender PAL CIB 1. Assault NTSC CIB 2. Great Escape NTSC CIB 3. Z-Tack NTSC CIB

  11. Sorry Mayhem,,, my site was a little confusing. I'm always trying to make it better, but I had Eli's Ladder with a (just cart) in paranthesis next to it. That was to remind me that as far as I know, the game only comes loose. It wasn't meant to show that I have the cart - I don't. I've since corrected the confusing parentheses. Sorry Homerwannabee,,, I also added a comment that I only have the original Video Life cart and instructions... the box I have is only a reproduction albeit a nice one that looks awesome on my shelf rounding out my Commavids... not even a notorious over-paying neophyte like me could part with $5,000 for the Video Life Complete I saw floating around... although I have to admit to edman87k5 that I have seriously thought about it. When it's the last game I need in a set of games from a cool manufacturer, and it is something for which I've been searching for years... logic and economics aren't always what makes the decision... I think that's the collector's disease in me talking, but I doubt I'm alone... edman87k5,,, The best way I can describe it is akin to Mountain Climbing... which I also enjoy but have a hard time explaining with logic and reason. There's just an enormous rush and satisfaction that comes with completing a tough collecting goal (or summit goal) that can't be explained by money or words.
  12. Homerwannabe,,, thanks for the kind words. Mayhem,,, you must have read my page wrong or are just messing with the new guy... if it has red font, I want it... I don't have an Eli's Ladder yet. If you want to part with a spare copy, please, just let me know. I'd take a music machine as well if you're feeling generous.
  13. Hello everyone. This is General Hellfire... yes, the same guy on eBay. Apologies for competing with any of you on auctions in the past... It's a privilege and an honor to join your forum. Re: this thread... I know most of you think I spent too much for pepsi invaders. My apologies for that, but for me, Atari 2600 is love... or at least obsession,,, and it's hard to put a price on either. Re: me... I do have a few games collected, but I only started around 2001 after the famous Antiques Roadshow segment on Pacman and Quadrun (I have this on mpeg file), only with 2600, and only with complete games. I'm not someone who has any rare games that I personally acquired back in the day. The only original purchases I have in my collection are all ones I bought from my paper route money and are just loose, rarity 1, and in terrible shape from me and my brother wearing them out... BUT, needless to say, these are my favorites. I did put my inventory link in the signature section if anyone wants to have a look at what I've got and what I'm still looking for. This is probably a violation of yor forum etiquette?, but I'd welcome any offers to fill any of my gaps... As you can see from this auction - I like to fill gaps! My current quest is trying to add a complete Polo... I just can't find one anywhere. Anyway,,, again... it's a privilege and an honor, and I look forward to learning from you guys in the future.
