  1. PM and Email sent to Phantom.

    pm sent!

UMM TOO LATE. I suggest you respect when an item is spoken for.

Well i don't know who you think you are or who you think your talking to but you should keep quiet if you have nothing good to say. For one, jboy already told me it was gone and two, i don't see anywhere in this post where it say's "taken" or "spoken for". Have some respect yourself and keep out of things :x

  2. LOOKIN GOOD man!

I used to use an exacto blade knife strapped to a pencil with packaging tape as a guide then cut a straight line where the control panel overlay "bends" and chips off. That way I could make a clean cut on the bottom edge and touch it up with black enamel paint. I had a Galaga that looked factory fit that way (of course if you knew the game had a one piece overlay then it didn't but it was clean and true).

Glass looks great. Seems its really coming along nicely! Way to go! The pics are great.

Update: Well, Yall saw what it looked like before, heres what it looks like so far as of today. Finally got my bezel glass and my control panel thanks to QuarterArcade.com. I'll eventuallyget this done. At least i can't tell it was converted into a golf game anymore. :)

VERY nice work!!! You took a hunk of shit and made it beautiful agian! You can tell from the quality and time you put in your enjoying this project and it looks great.

Thanks guys. I'm trying. Looks like i might have to wait a couple of months on the boards but i'll post here when there's an update.

  4. Ah i see. I never played the arcade version. Wonder why people don't down the 2600 version of pac-man. It looks nothing like the arcade version or even the 5200.

    ????

    They do! :)

Ok. Just never heard anyone comment on it, except for a friend.

you need to check out the 2600 thread...lots of Pac Man bashing :)

  6. Congo Bongo 5200 is a horrible translation of the coin-op. Garish colors, loose controls, only 2 levels. The 5200 deserved better.

  7. I have a 2 port 5200 and a 4 port 5200. The 2 port model works fine but is missing the plastic piece that fits over the joystick ports. I tried removing that same piece from my 4 port model. My idea was to see if it would be possible to find a junk 2 port guy that I could salvage the piece from. I was able to remove the piece but now I can't seem to get it to fit snugly back on my 4 port guy. Is there a trick to this? It does not appear that it was glued or that I broke any pieces removing it. I can certainly glue it back on but I was hoping it would simply snap back into place. Does anyone have any experience with this?

    Thanks,

    tjb

EDIT... wait... are you talking about where the sticks connect at the front of the console, or the joystick storage area at the back of the console? My reply below was based on me thinking you were talking about the storage area.

The door doesn't snap or glue into place. It just sits there and is held in place when the upper and lower case halves are put together.

And AFAIK the piece should be completely interchangeable between the 2 and 4 port systems. Can't think of any reason they'd be different.

I was referring to the piece that fits over the joystick ports.

    Thanks,

    tjb

Should fit fine. Only difference is, if you put the 4 port front end on a 2. you'll have your 2 regular ports and 2 spots where the other were in the middle for the 4 port.

  8. Well, good thing i followed my instincts. Here lately, i haven't really been going to yard sales like i normally do and should do. A few days ago, a sign was posted where i work. It was a multi-family yardsale on a whole block. What caught my eye of course was the fact that it said "video games". Hmmm. well my job had me working 8 to 4 which was the exact running time for the yard sales. I figured, "something tells me not to miss this one". I asked my wife to go in place ofme and see what was out there. Heres what i ended up with: Playstation 2 complete system for $10, Playstation system complete for $5, Rocky box set movies for $4, 22 PS1 games in binder all with books for $2, Gremlins vhs for $1, Nice Sony VCR complete with remote for $10, and The Goonies vhs for .25 cents. I wish every weekend was like this. :)

    Not bad at all.

If you would like to trade the VHS tapes for some loose Atari 2600 games shoot me a PM, I am interested in all of them :)

Thanks for the offer. If they were anything else, i might have traded but these were hand picked for my collection. I usually don't buy what i don't need. Usually.

  9. I'd much rather have one of the 50 "regular" ones as well. lol

Are the 50 regular ones better?

I figured the limited edition ones would be the special ones

There'd be 5 times as many limited edition carts as regular ones.

You have a point there. I just like the idea of have a box and book with it as well as maybe something xtra. I'll take what i can get.

  10. 22 PS1 games for $2? What the deuce??? That's insane... guess it's a good thing SOME people don't know about ebay.

No way in Hell my wife would ever go to a yard sale for me. Not a stinking chance.... :(

    otherwise, she's pretty cool....

Probably best that those who don't knowabout ebay continue notto know. :)

My wife actually says YES instead of NO. She says, ever since we got together, she's learned what to look for now and looks every time she's out. She knows what i'm into from Atari to Sony. :)

  11. Nice. Today I scored an original Playstation with three games but no power cable (argh), a joystick for a Sega Saturn, Rampage for NES, Super Mario World for SNES, a Gameboy Color with Donkey Kong Land, a video cable for PS1/PS2 and a video cable for SNES/N64/Gamecube (I always grab loose cables when I see them). And I scored a CD, punrockacademyfightsong by Down By Law, that has a hilarious punk rock cover of "500 Miles," the hit by the Proclaimers.

I passed on a few loose Genesis carts (all either sports titles or super common) and some badly scratched Dreamcast discs. Sometimes I wonder what it is that people do with their discs to scratch them up so badly? Drag them behind their car?

I had a good Saturday too, though not quite as good as yours. :) I've seen PS2s priced at $10 at yard sales before, but someone has always beat me to them.

    Congratulations on your find.

  12. I don't mind useful mods (makeing AV out for Atari, or mod chips for whatever) But I'm totally against just gutting the thing for some bullshit mod like an actual toaster in the toaster NES  Of course, there's like 20 million of them, or something, so...eh...

I suppose if the hardware is already dead (no, the crappy zif in the NES doesn't count as "dead") But eh...save the parts anyways, someone might could use some of them.

Oh...but I wouldn't mind a 2600 portable. What does getting one of those cost? Who's this guy that makes them, and does he still work on them? That would be friggin sweet to walk into GameStop or something sporting one of those, playing skeleton, pissing people off with it's coolness :D

As far as i know, he still does.

  14. [Here in the USA, at least where I live, older CRT TV's are a dime a dozen. People are buying newer TV's with digital tuners and also those old floor consoles I've been finding things like this since i first started looking in 89'. Back in april, I found a 32" widescreen high def sony and it still works. Gave it to my wifes sister because it was so damn HEAVY!! I already have a 32 and a 46. This console is extra forolder things like the 2600.

Did there happen to be a moving van parked in the driveway?

    ;)

LMAO :lolblue: No. What it is, is every year about twice a year, some cities have what they call "cleanup day" basically, they clean out garages, attics, basements , and closets. Whatever they don't use or want goes right to the curb and its usually almost every house you come to for blocks. Many streets. People driving aroundin trucks vans and whatever scavengering. I got so much stuff, i'm running out of room. computers game systems tv's stereos dvd players board games puzzles books vcr's. u name it
